Black Eyed Peas leader Will.i.am has spoken out against the release of a new Michael Jackson album in November. The producer, who worked with the King of Pop in 2008, said that Jackson “wouldn’t have wanted it that way”. Check out exactly what he had to say below:
“How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain’t here to bless it?” he told the Associated Press news agency.”He was a perfectionist and he wouldn’t have wanted it that way,” he said of the new album, which Sony is expected to release in November.

As a stan, I agree with everything he is saying and appreciate his own stan-ism when it comes to defending Michael.. but will.i.am urks the fugg outta me & is IRRELEVANT so i kinna brush everything from his mouth past my shoulder.. lemme hear Janet…. or……ummm…JANET.. (lol) say something like this and ill take it seriously…
with that said, though as fans, we would love the fact of hear “un-heard” or “UN-RELEASED” tracks consisting MJ’s vocals (cuz none of this stuff is really “NEW”), the issue at hand is really concerning the respect factor, which no one has had for him in life NOR death. Honestly, if it came down do it, Michael’s historical catalog of music from the past is sufficient enough to last us to inifity & beyond.. so if that means respecting his legacy and wishes by not releasing these “new” tracks, then so be it.. cuz its really just the selfish fans AND money hungry executives that are realy advocating this project.
It is now officially pointless to ever say “R.I.P. MJ” —- because we all know he will NEVER rest in peace .

Will I am agrees with me that is what I said on another post. Michael was a perfectionist he would not want this stuff released. I have been a fan of Michael for 35 yrs and if it wasn’t released before he died it wasn’t going to be released period.

Michaels legacy was secured before this ever came about and nothing will change that fact EVER regardless of circumstance, its set in stone for eternity. Michael WOULD NOT have wanted the music in his vaults released, if he wanted it released it would have already been released before he died period!!
The Jackson estate has brought in 1 billion dollars since Michael died without releasing any of the music in Michael’s vaults so why do they need to, I do not see his children suffering with 1 billion dollars in one year so far not including what keeps coming in as we speak.
Even though I agree with Will I would purchase the album anyway just because its Michael and Sony knows everyone will but the fact remains that if Michael was here this music would not have been approved to be released point blank.

I think it depends on if the songs are complete or if they are going to finish them off after the fact.
As a massive 2pac fan i wanted nothing more than to hear all those unreleased songs he had, but they messed with them, butchered them re used verses in multiple songs and made me change my mind on wanting to hear his unreleased material.
It’s the only thing that convinced me that he didn’t fake his death, as I know he would not have stood by and let them do what they did to his music.

My thoughts exactly as I discussed already, let the man RIP. His legacy was complete long B4 his death. If its not yet another Greatest Hits album its a complete waste of time. If you have old unreleased songs by MJ (most likely Mediocre) that you think his fans should hear, then just leak them like everybody else.
OK – at first i thought this was a good idea, bringing out a new album, but now I’m not so sure – there are pros and cons like the fans get to hear new stuff and his kids get some of the money, but they might f*ck the whole thing up by messing around with the tracks. I think on the whole I’m now beginning to come down on the don’t release it side – but I’ll honestly admit I have absoultely no will power, so even having said what I did I’ll buy it if its released.

I agree with Will.i.am but my excitement for the new album is just taking over. I’m just stoked that MJ fans will be able to hear more songs… Though I do understand other’s points about exploitation, but I’m just overall excited for a new album, anything that Michael touches (or sings) in my opinion is gold.

I don’t think Michael would mind that this music is being released because, for one, the money made off the albums will go to the estate which will benefit Michael’s Mother and children.
Two, because Michael often released his own unreleased material on compilation albums and rereleases. For example, When he rereleased the Thriller Special edition album back in 2000 0r 2001, (not the 25th anniversary edition) it had a few unreleased tracks on it including CAROUSEL (my favorite MJ song of all time). Unfortunately it only had the 1:49 version of the song on it, but I found out the Japanese version had the full song so I had to get that.
Also, on the UltImate Collection, it had a whole bunch of unreleased songs including demos!! Songs that weren’t even finished. I couldn’t get that box set when it came out because it was so dang expensive because it came with so much stuff. Can’t even imagine how much it costs now.
And finally, Michael was talking about how he “out thinked” SONY because they wanted a best of album with two new songs. Michael was bragging about how he has 100’s of unreleased tracks so he just put one of them on the album that became Number One’s. The song was One More Chance (which we would of had a video for if it wasn’t for those stupid allegations).

To say that I’m not looking forward to it would be a lie for me. Funny how you bring up that war with Sony he had a couple of years ago. That was pretty nasty, however, Michael had said not too long before he past that he had stored those unreleased songs up so his children could profit off of them in the future, so they were gonna get released anyway. I just hope they don’t add a whole bunch of rediculous collabos of Will-I-Am and Akon over every track. Just remaster the sound and put them out as they are.

I also rather NOT hear Will’s annoying, wack raps all over the choruses of his songs, as a matter of fact, there shouldn’t be no-collabos what so ever. This is just MJ’s light an no one else’s. I agree with Will on this one. Yea, Will is a jerk at times at times, but he’s right. When I heard that they were going to release MJ’s album, I was like WTF? Diddy did the same thing to Biggie and whatever label 2 Pac was on, they did the same to him. I just hate it when I hear new or unreleased music from someone who died! It doesn’t make any sense. Sony just seems greedy. I mean, I can understand fans wanting to hear his new material, but if that’s the case, they should just release A FREE MIXTAPE like many artists are doing now-a-days AS A SPECIAL GIFT FOR MJ’S FANS!

I can see will.i.am’s side of it. But if they were in acutuality doing music to be released, then MJ obviously wanted his fans to hear it. It’s sad that he didn’t live to see it come to pass, but in all fairness, if he was planning for a new album, he must’ve wanted his fans to hear it. But throwing together some songs just to exploit his legacy, I don’t agree with. A Michael Jackson album would have to be put together by the producers who knew him best and his family so that his TRUE vision can fully be realized.
