Jason Derulo hit the stage at the ‘America’s Got Talent’ semifinals last evening. The Michael Jackson impersonator singer/songwriter performed his hit ‘Ridin’ Solo’. Peep all the action below:
Clearly the crowd was being prompted to cheer on cue because there was absolutely nothing about that performance to scream about. From his tired footwork to the imitation Michael Jackson outfit and laser show, Derulo’s stage presence was far from exciting.
There is no question that Derulo is indeed talented but how he chooses to express that talent is problematic. Maybe he should leave the dancing and theatrics to those who are naturally gifted in those departments – Chris Brown and Usher – and focus on developing his vocal ability. Survey says: fail.

He should just stick to singing don’t dance. He doesn’t have the creativity for stage presence. He needs to quit with all the over doing it. It’s makes it hard on him. Just be yourself Jason. Stop with the over the top stuff. Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake can pull it off because they have stage presence and are creative enough for it and plus they are really damn good at it too.

I went to see him in concert and he was shite. Music too loud, mic too low and he cut his set by 20-25 mins! Not good!

And Chris doesn’t always lip-sync. The thing about Chris is he is an excellent dancer and an okay singer so her has enought to go around. Atleast when chris lip-sync his dancing is on point which people like to see. I only really see him lip-sync during ICTY(the n**** being lazy knowing damn well he can say “I can Transform Ya” and dance at the same time lol. But Jason is another story. He might have it but he doesn’t show it. His singing/dancing is never really on point.

At one point in time, when there was no Chris Brown in site because of his “incident” with Rihanna, and Usher was a distant memory of yesterday’s Confession, Jason DeRulo seemed to be the upcoming new Prince of Pop. Without a doubt the boy can dance. Sure it’s a little Michael Jackson-esque, but many of our male entertainers who dance site Michael for his smooth choreography. Although I don’t believe Jason has much of a voice, he does have a musical format that works out for him: a techno-pop dance track that contains enough Hip-Hop bass to appeal to all. This performance isn’t that bad, with the lasers and the pop-lock freeze movements, this expresses the direction of 21st century Pop-Soul and R&B: a more futuristic sound. At least you know what to expect.

I agree with you but in all honesty Chris Brown does imitate MJ on MANY occasions. His “Gimme Dat” video>>>SMOOTH CRIMINAL, his little *BILLIE JEAN* dance at the ’07 VMAs, his “Wall to Wall” video at the beginning was reminiscent of THRILLER. His spins>> MJ perfected that & made it one of his trademark moves
I know he’s always cited MJ as an influence but even he is guilty of blatantly imitating Michael *on certain occasions*
