New Song: Melody Thornton – ‘Love Gun’

Published: Friday 10th Sep 2010 by Trent

A new song from Melody Thornton surfaced today. The track, entitled ‘Love Gun’, was written and produced by Cee-Lo Green and was recorded during the studio sessions for her upcoming solo album. Give it a listen below:

Although the tone of Thornton’s voice on the verses was somewhat irritating, her vocals on the chorus were quite impressive. She has a very powerful upper register and a lot of control over her range. It’s great to see her getting some shine as a solo artist. After all that time being blocked by Nicole Scherzinger’s ponytail weave she is finally getting to express herself. Good stuff.

SANG HONEY! She better werk it! Cee-lo killed this track. U can tell he wrote and produced it. So proud of Melody! U should NEVER have to stand in someone else’s shadow! She is so much better than a glorified background singer!

i LOVE…great job melody!! fingers crossed this song won’t be received with a collective public side b/c it isn’t the same ol’ same ol’ #popshit….

@that nicole shade, i didn’t really like the PCD onewomanshow dynamic, but still, you kind of understand why nicole was front and center…she had the look, an okay voice, and stage presence more than any of the others…sure she couldn’t dance as well as kimberly or the other blonde or sing better than jessica or melody but hey, she was a decent package for what it was worth..

@aryo “stole it” is a bit strong…i’m thinking more that since the dolls didn’t use the producer just kept it and now sold it to mel who’s actually going to use it…gotta get the money’s worth outta the song…tis all

  23. BENJAMIN September 11, 2010

    It actually sounds kinda cool.

  24. vegasgirl September 11, 2010

This song definetely is Cee- Lo and I LOVE his work, so that being said LOVE this song. Her vocals are a bit grating, I like when a woman sounds lilke a grown woman, not a little girl. Don’t have a problem with higher voices at all but just imagine Melanie Fiona singing this—FIRE!! ( or Fantasia…I would die!!!).

Love this vibe and it’s comforting to see that Melody has good taste.

  25. Simply Phillip Brown September 11, 2010

This is a old song…this isn’t new. This was posted on my blog along time ago.

  28. j September 11, 2010

when listening to this song, that scene in date night with steve carrell and tina fey pop into my head lol…lauren bennetts version sounds a lot better than this one…melody’s voice is pretty annoying in this one!

  29. Xj September 11, 2010

    GO MELODY GO:)

  30. Dan September 12, 2010

    Ugh her voice is annoying!!!

  31. Bri September 13, 2010

Yeah her voice is pretty annoying. I don’t know what everybody else is listening to.

  32. C September 14, 2010

OMG! She butchered this song! It sounds like someone is stepping on a cat. The original verson was actually sung by Cee lo and Lauren Bennett and was in the movie “Date Night”. I have been patiently waiting for Cee lo to release Lady Killers because Lauren Bennett stated they had recorded the song for that LP. I’m sooooo disappointed!
