Cheryl Cole To ‘Pre-Record’ X Factor Performance

Published: Saturday 23rd Oct 2010 by Sam

With Cheryl Cole‘s much hyped X Factor performance set to air tomorrow, it has today emerged that the Pop starlet will be pre-recording her her ‘live’ showing.

Full story after the jump…

Instead of taking to the stage to perform new single ‘Promise This’ live on tomorrow night’s results show (as initially billed), Cole will film her performance in front of the audience for tonight’s show.

Sources close to the situation cite conflicts with the preparation for the performance and Cole’s judging duties as the reason for the early shooting.

Regardless of the reasoning, the news will no doubt add fuel to the fire that is the raging debut about Cole’s voice/talent (or lack-thereof). For having engaged in similar practice before her big X-Factor performance of ‘Fight For This Love’ last year, and the fact that her mic oft remains off, this latest episode won’t bode well for the Girls Aloud singer. After all, many are already aware that studio wizardry and lip-syncing are a staple feature of her performances. And by the look of things, tomorrow’s looks to follow suit.

Perhaps it’s just me but Cheryl sounds good to me. Her voice isn’t bad at all. She can sing and to me this performance proved it.

I have no words to describe the lack of talent sitting on that stool. I guess everyone likes something different, and people are focused on looks and fashion

I personally think she cannot sing which is why she mimes, uses auto tuning and now goes to the extreme of pre recording her performance which should be live. I think she knows she cannot sing live and it would be embarassing for her during and after the performance. Katy Perry did it, why can’t Cheryl? Sad really.

I myself think Cheryl proved that she CAN sing live during radio one’s live lounge, as shown in the clip. Okay, she is not the BEST singer in the world by any means, but the thing is neither is madonna, fergie, britney spears etc. and you don’t see them getting half as much sh** as Cheryl does! I think today, music is not just about your ability to sing live – it’s personality, originality, style. Cheryl obviously has these things or she wouldn’t be making music. Can you imagine how difficult it must be thinking about mentoring your acts and getting to the right places on time on a live show without having to fit a live performance in on top of that? I think it’s perfectly reasonable to pre-record it, if it was someone else like madonna doing it then people wouldn’t have a problem.
Oh, and anyone who slates Cheryl and says she shouldn’t be a successful artist because she can’t sing live, two words. Katy. Perry.
Just check out her performance on X Factor. I love her music. But my goodness do I wish she had mimed. Awful.
