Christina Aguilera appears to making moves to pick up the broken pieces of her once flourishing music career; and is reportedly looking to hitmaker David Guetta to help her out.

According to Record, Guetta has been in negotiation with Aguilera’s camp for some time about a collaboration – which would feature on his forthcoming LP, due next Summer. With both parties expressing a keenness to collaborate, reliable word has it that it’s more a case of finalising the legalities (which would green-light the feature), more than anything else.
Other artists reportedly set to appear on the album (which currently has 9 completed tracks) include Usher, Kelly Rowland, and will.i.am.

While I’m sure many will scoff at Aguilera seemingly hopping on the Guetta-bandwagon, it may just be one step she needs to take to re-establish herself (after all, he is the ‘it’ guy of the moment). Although, I’m hoping it’s more a side-project, as opposed a full-embrace of the Electo/Euro-Pop craze. As history (and sales) have shown, Christina is at her best when simply doing her, instead of chasing trends.
In any case, it’ll be very interesting to see how she plans on putting her career back together in the coming months and year. As the ‘Bionic’ episode underscored, you simply can not disappear for 4 years and think your audience will still be intact upon your return (unless of course you’re an MJ – RIP – or Sade, for instance). Ms. Aguilera will therefore need to make movements, and fast, if she’s to salvage her ship.
Good for her! Christina needs to get with the moment and record hits again. This is a step in the right direction.

Am I the only one who actually thinks Bionic is up there with Stripped? The ballads were exceptional, the arrangements were amazing (for her standards) and she kept the vocal flourishes under wraps. Elastic Love and Bionic were other standouts, but I guess her claiming that her album was “fresh” and “organic” turned people off, especially when those said songs sounded like every track that came out beforehand.
I don’t like David Guetta and his recycled beats, so I won’t be checking for this.

Well, people seem to forget that “Stripped” and “Back To Basics” were four years apart and the latter certainly wasn’t a flop. Maybe that’s because B2B was actually a good album that suited her style far better. “Bionic” was a disaster in every sense of the word. With the exception of a few songs, the album sucked. The video for the lead single “Not Myself Tonight” sucked & looked desperate. At this point, people were expecting for Christina to PROgress, not REgress. Anyone who has listened to her first three albums in chronological order knows that. Maybe if electro-pop hadn’t already been an overdone craze by the time “Bionic” came out, it would have fared better, but it could’ve been released a year after B2B, and I would still hate it. I hope I hear guitars on Christina’s next album.

Christina is a far better than vocalist than Beyonce’. Thats what she’s known for her vocals. Bionic’ is a great album. She was digressing, and during different things with her voice. Every song does’nt have to be a damn power ballad. Thats the problem with people they think that every artist with a great voice has to sing power ballads.

I agree that going in the musical direction she went in when everybody else was doing was a HUGE mistake, and mainly why she flopped. The timing of the album was very poor. If “Bionic” had been released a couple years earlier, it might’ve yielded better results commercially. However, taking four years off in of itself isn’t what killed the album. The sound, timing, & promotion of the album is what killed it. “Bionic” is the one album that I would say where Christina sounds like she’s trying to be something she’s not, and obviously a lot of fans sensed that. But I fail to see where “Stripped” & “Back To Basics” were “following trends”, I didn’t find mainstream albums that sounded just like those.

Yes, Christina was blessed with the equipment, but unfortunately she misuses that gift a lot of the time. Someone like her shouldn’t have a hard time at all singing a John Lennon song without f****** it up, yet she managed to do so. Bey has a great voice and great techniques to compliment it. There is nothing screechy about it, and I don’t know how you could even think her voice approaches anything that sounds screechy. It’s clear that you know NOTHING about vocal ability! I in no way think Beyonce is the greatest voice of all time, however, she is miles ahead of a whole lot of singers, especially Christina, honey. You actually have it mixed up in thinking that Beyonce screeches, yodels, SCREAMS, or howls because Christina is the one those characteristics apply to. Beyonce is WAY more subtle than Christina who sometimes completely takes a perfectly great song and ruins it with her overdone runs, riffs, and SCREAMS! Christina’s vocals are wildly OVERRATED! She’s just extremely loud and people mistake her loudness for amazing vocals. That woman’s technique sucks major ass. She actually has so much potential but she needs a vocal coach, and clearly it’s too late for that now considering she destroyed most of what she had to offer because of her lack of technique and SCREAMING. She has/had the pipes but she doesn’t know how to use them.

That was dreadful and she sounds like this 98% of the time. Beyonce on the other hand is flawless. Her technique is near perfect, she has an amazing blend, she NEVER strains or is off-key, she can access her entire range effortlessly and her musicality is the best of this generation.

And the sad thing about that is, some of her stans actually think something like that is ‘amazing’ or better than Beyonce. Beyonce is pitch-PERFECT! You’re exactly right, she possesses the best musicality which results in her ability to not have to strain to hit a note because she KNOWS her limits. but truth is
Christina can never be powerful because she sings in the throat. A constricted, closed throat inhibits the sound from being released. Beyonce’s much better placement makes her voice 10 times more powerful.
I honestly used to think Christina was the best. But after listening to more different singers and more styles I began to notice how overbearing her flaws are. Her high notes are so obviously strained and pinched. You can hear her voice crackle on every note above c#5 . It may impress, but it is bad technique. She also distorts her “powerful” mid range to the point that she sings with an underbite and distorts words. I just can’t “unhear” the flaws now.

Beyoncé doesn’t have soul in her voice, she can train and train again, she’ll never got it. That’s not something you can buy.

Exactly. It is NOT her voice that sucks, it is her TECHNIQUE. S*** saying that her voice sucks and that Riyodel in the studio sounds better than Christina live is a wild exaggeration. Of course Riyodel can sound good in the studio; after all, that’s what Auto-Tune is for. Sounding good in the studio may have once been something worth bragging about, but not anymore. Anyone can sound good in the studio thanks to technology.

Strangely enough, it wasn’t listening to other singers that made me realize how bad her technique is. It was listening to hours of her performances on YouTube, where I noticed a lot of those performances were oddly irritating to me, and I couldn’t quite figure out why. Then I listened to her cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, and having listened to the original version sung by Judy Garland and comparing the two, I finally put my finger on it. Judy has a similar voice (in terms of tone), but she never overdid it. She had perfect control of her voice. Honestly, Christina should have never needed a vocal coach in the first place, I mean how hard is it to not oversing a song?
And don’t anyone go accusing me of jumping on the “X-Tina hate bandwagon”, I know how some of you stans think. Just because I like an artist doesn’t mean I’m gonna pretend that they’re perfect when I know they’re not. Christina does’nt struggle to hit anything. She also has grit to her voice, whether it be throat singing or power singing. Beyonce’s technique is nothing special, using falsetto to trick people into believing she has power. She is 1 dimensional. I did’nt mention anything about favorites. When i hear the two of them singing Christina has the better voice by far. She has ton of song where she isn’t going full throttle. Beyonce screeched and hollered all over Bday. That was very poor technique. Listen was forced, and she hollered her way thru that song. I heard no range sorry. I don’t speak to ignorant people. Cursing does’nt get my attention. Just singing and using falsetto is not depth, you can hear and see when Beyonce is forcing her singing as well. She has a decent voice at best. But she is nowhere near great.

You people fail to realize is that vocal training doesn’t give you TALENT. Beyonce already knew how to sing, but I remember watching an interview on MTV where the first guy who signed her thought she needed vocal training to work on her breath control and stamina.

If you speak to any real vocal coach/trainer, I can almost guarantee that they all will agree that Beyonce is the better vocalist. I’ve noticed that most individuals that slam Aguilera’s “Bionic” have never even heard it. Speaking as someone who has heard the album, it is one of the best pop albums of the year (and Billboard agrees with me). It’s eclectic, organic and diverse on many levels from electro-pop (Bionic) to POP/R&B (Prima Donna, WooHoo) to adult contemporary ballads (You Lost Me, Lift Me Up, I Am, Stronger Than Ever).
Did someone say that “Rated R” and “I Am Sasha Fierce” were great albums? That in itself is laughable….try “The Velvet Rope” and “The MisEducation of Lauryn Hill” and “Baduizm” hell even “Stripped”….those are real albums with depth that goes beyond the transparency of conforming to short attention spans of today’s music market.
Lastly, Christina Aguilera is largely considered both the greatest vocalist of this generation as well as one of the greatest vocalists of all time. She is vocally superior to Beyonce and will always be. This does undermine nor understand the vocal ability of Knowles. It’s just how it is. Beyonce Knowles is not on Aguilera’s level vocally.
She has the talent to bounce back…with that being said I look forward to her collaboration with Guetta.

@Nemra exactly. Most people in the industry know what great voices and, and they have made it known that Christina fits the billing. Beyonce isn’t known for her vocals sorry. Resentment to me was one of Beyonce’s best vocals, but she almost had to turn herself into someone else to accomplish that, but guess what that song still does’nt stand a chance against Christina’s ballads and yes from a technical standpoint. So i’m staying put Christina is by far the greater vocalist. She has it all. I hear lots of variation in her singing, something Mrs.Knowles lacks. All of her vocals same the exact same.
Beyonce’s head voice is average. I just don’t hear much sould in her voice may’be sometimes but not overall. Christina’s vocals have so much more passion,power,emotion and depth. She’s the epitome of a vocalist. She’s doing something right because she has become a staple for her Vocals. So YEAH !!!
