Renown director Ray Kay latest video, Willow Smith‘s ‘Whip My Hair’, has been a hot topic since debuting earlier this week. With everyone and their mother having an opinion on the 9 year old’s foray into music, Kay (as seen above) has spoken up on what it was like working with the youngest of the Smith clan, and his views on her future.

“I’m so excited to see all the buzz about this video on the web. Willow really deserves this, she’s a superstar already. The video will surely be considered a classic a few years from now.
I think we managed to create a fresh expression using Willow’s amazing energy, a positive and inspiring concept, and mixing the colors of the sets with Willow’s fashion, which consisted of custom-made clothing and exclusive One Z jumpsuits from California Christiania Republic. She’s a trendsetter already and I’m sure others will be copying her style soon!”

The song is a monster hit its already standing at 18 at billboards ever comparative hiphop rnb chart.based on radio play alone, in 2 weeks it will be top 10 and obviously from there is gonna over take the billboard hot 100. i must say congrats to her, shez defnetly lil rihanna as the critics have dubbed her.
quick question what will Willow do for a second single and what will she do 1 year from now after she loses all this media hype? sorry but this isnt a “classic” and so far the song is flopping on the mainstream charts i guess we will wait until october 25th to see if she can actually get ppl to buy her single (RIhanna, and Kesha are both releasing new singles on the same day and Taylor Swift will have a new promo single (all her promo singles so far have reached number one on the itunes top 100) out around that time and Taylor is releasing her album on the same day) and i have heard willow sing live and lets just say rihanna could out sing her

The thing that I find funny is that a lot of people had said that Willow was inspired by a certain model with a mic from the islands, but I just read in an interview that she was inspired by Lady Gaga, Billy Idol, Beyonce and Jay-Z. And her parents too, but that’s it.
And she sounded pretty intelligent for a 9-year old in the interview too. I need to hear her live though. Hopefully she has talent. 🙂

Its pretty damn obvious who’s shes inspired by…She doesnt have to say it. and quiet frankly i think its smart that she doesnt so she can build a look sound and image on her own instead of being dubbed a lil Rihanna like soooo many critcs are doing….Like its ridiculous.
