Jason Derulo made a promotional appearance on ‘Live with Regis & Kelly’ recently. The usually auto-tuned artist performed his new single, ‘What If’, for the studio audience. Check out the performance below:
That was a catastrophe. Derulo was out of breath and literally gasping for air throughout the entire performance. Additionally, he mumbled all of the lyrics to the point that it was almost impossible to understand what he was trying to sing.
Derulo has a bad habit of blaming his horrendous showings on mic problems or simply being overwhelmed by ‘rigorous’ choreography but it’s clear that he is simply a terrible singer. He could barely hold a single note that entire performance! At least when Rihanna is bleating out the words of her songs we could understand what she’s saying (regardless of how painful it is to listen to her voice).
Derulo needs to decide if he wants to be a serious vocalist or just a studio artist. If the latter is the case then he should just dance and lip-sync like Keri Hilson because his live vocals are simply unacceptable.

I saw this yesterday and knew it would be posted heree on TGJ. It was the worst I’ve ever seen from an artist. Why does this man even have a record deal?
I kinda feel bad for the poor guy, because I’m sure this is him giving his ALL, 110% and truthfully it just doesn’t cut it. There are so many things wrong with this performance than I can’t even focus of anything positive.
He needs to lip sync and leave the ballads to Trey and Neyo.

jason is a trained dancer and should have done a fast song with choreography. i think he should avoid the slow songs until he has had time to work on his live vocals.

@Sam please give up aint nothing u can say to make that performance even halfway good the only reason you should be ou of breath while singing a ballad is because you just transitioned from an uptempo song right before this a mess and he needs to do better
Why the F*** does he sing like that? He chooses to sound out of breath because that is his vocal style. From the first note to the last I strongly disliked that and I think the kid has pipes but he chops and screws the vocals up.
And I blame Kara DiaGuardo (formerly of American IDol) for this s*** because she signed him and Iyaz…. I really hate her right now. Note to ALL contemporary singers ( but especially this kid), knowing how to do runs and hit some falsetto notes does not qualify as singing. Why does he make me hate him so much?…I already don’t like his face, now I’m beginning to dislike his voice with every live performance and song on the radio.
He can do better but that was pretty horrible.

After watching this performance I see why ya’ll clown dude so hard. He really is horrible. I am almost starting to feel bad for him cause you can tell he tries so hard. Jason proves he is not worthy if being mentioned in the same sentence of CB everytime he hits the stage.
When CB drops his new material it will seal the lid in Jason’s coffin. His few lil hits wasn’t enough to cement his spot, especially with these horrible ass performances. You can have as many hits as you want but if you can’t back that up with some solid performances then you won’t last long. Especially if you were only getting some shine while someone else was down and out.

I really Like Jason, I believe he really gives his all during his performances but it’s just not working for him. He tries hard and his work ethic is great but the vocals are lacking big time, it’s like he’s forcing himself to sing in a key that’s just not natural to him and it’s to the point were you just STOP the video or turn the channel. At least whenever Rihanna is singing, it’s tolerable & interesting. I really hope he gets Hardcore Vocal Training because I really like him as an artist, he seems like a cool person also and I hate to see him fail.
Derulo cannot sing period. Ok, he has 3 hits, well Taio Cruz has 2 hits and another on the way in the states. In fact, Taio sounds better than him live. For all that radio support in the states, he is not even at 300,000 albums sold. He should have Kesha numbers with all that radio support. Why does she sell singles and albums and he can’t? Kesha can’t sing that well, but she has an image that interests people. Derulo lacks the charisma to make up for his lack of singing talent, and people are not motivated to buy his cd even with all that radio support. He will never be Usher, Timberlake, etc…I wish him the best but a singer he is not.
