Manager: “Christina Aguilera Will Tour In 2011”

Published: Saturday 2nd Oct 2010 by Sam

Despite a commercially unsuccessful 2010, it looks like Christina Aguilera will be heading out on tour next year.

Full report below…

The news comes via Aguilera’s manager Irving Azoff, who also heads up concert-powerhouse Live Nation. During a recent interview with USA Today, Azoff cited Aguilera’s upcoming tour as one of those he anticipates will help business ‘pick up’ in 2011:

Next year may improve, he said, as hitmakers who sat on the sidelines in 2010 plan major tours. He’s especially optimistic that the cast of the TV show Glee, Van Halen, Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, and Fleetwood Mac will fill arenas and ampitheaters. {Source}

Riddle me this: ‘Bionic’ has sold approximately 240,000 copies – to date. If folk weren’t willing to buy the album, will they really be rushing to buy tickets to a tour? A tour featuring songs they’ve probably never heard before, at that?

Coming off not only the biggest flop of her career, but also one of the biggest flops of the year, Aguilera may need to re-think any plans of embarking on an arena trek. It’d only cause further embarrassment. While I’d much prefer she work on her likeability and the establishment of a sound she can call her own; if a tour is what she desires, then a small-scale / theatre-based trek may work – from both a business and fan-(re)building standpoint.

Say what we will about Xtina (much of it deserved), it can’t be denied that she remains one of the most gifted in the game. One can only hope she’s able to bounce back soon.

A tour is what she needs to reestablish her world wide image…there will be new and old songs so it can appeal many people…at least much more than those who disliked Bionic!!really hope they hype it as much as possible and I also think that Burlesque will be very very important for her coz if it flops too…it’ll be even worse for her to go on tour and fill stadiums!!She’s one of the most talented in music I just want her to bounce back!

  2. Alex October 2, 2010

Why Are they being so oblivious to the record sales! They need to release woohoo, i am, desnudate n s** for breakfast they r so f****** lazy like at least TRY

  3. Chris October 2, 2010

Well I hope she releases some good songs & videos to help promote the tour! 🙂

  4. Becca October 2, 2010

she may have flopped but she still has a massive fanbase. Her last tour grossed almost $90 million. I’m sure she’ll be fine.

  5. sugarwalls October 2, 2010

I hope her movie will be a hit… Otherwise, a concert will be a silly thing to do

  6. GangsterA October 2, 2010

honstley theres no point doin a tour but i may go shes so talnted and i love her i think she should release a new album next year in april then do a tour in july good luck anyways

  7. KAT DELUNA FAN October 2, 2010

  8. Baleia October 2, 2010

  9. phil October 2, 2010

I’ll definately go and see her! I’ve been to her last concert here in the UK and she was amazing!

  10. Xisme October 2, 2010

thats a good review and crit about the tour.. theres no hate theres just facts. but with burlesque due out next month i can see her status picking up and her sales rising, regardless of the bionic mess that she even said is over after just 1 official worldwide single. Burlesque is the key to her future and i think the style of the music within burlesque and her voice that matches that style people will want to hear and see her once again. lets just hope Sony advertise it well so far so good.

Bionic has sold more than 240, 000 albums, despite what you may think America isn’t the centre of everything! Since the release of Bionic her album sales went from 30 million to 42 million, so go eat your words.

Second point: Even if she did only sell 240,000 albums, if ever person who purchased a copy also paid $90 to see her concert she’d make over two million dollars! More than what you make writing your bias soaked blogs.

  12. stan October 2, 2010

she’ll probably do mid-size venues. she’ll be fine

  13. Kevin October 2, 2010

    this is a bad call.

forget bionic, hope you do better with Burlesque. and get some new material with a more sophisticated image. she is extremely fortunate to be working with Cher on this…because Cher is a universally popular figure.

if she comes back she needs to do something a tad different and regain her footing in pop music. perform the s*** out of songs and be everywhere..ppl forgot abotu xtina because of her 4 year wait, and ppl are only willing to let you back if you have a good song that you perform a LOT.

  14. YEETRASH October 2, 2010

If the public refused to pay $0.90-$10 for her album, what makes her think that they’ll pay $5 to go to her concert? LMFAO! This will be yet ANOTHER embarrassment on TRASHtina’s hands!
She should just stick to singing (or yelling, screaming) at 2-year-olds’ birthday parties, so they can yell and scream with her!

  15. Sarah October 2, 2010

People aren’t even buying her album and her management are still banking on a 2011 tour? Wow.

I guess they expect Burlesque to be successful for they can try to pick up sales for Bionic.

If Burlesque does happen to be a success, it would be thanks to Cher.

  16. Sarah October 2, 2010

And didn’t Christina recently release a statement saying that she’s over Bionic and the process was fun while it lasted? So why would she tour for the album? I’m not buying into anything her management says about Bionic.

  17. KOLFAN October 2, 2010

there is no way her tour will sell in 2011. It won’t sell b/c her most recent album was terrible. Forget sales of the album for a minute. The album was terrible. It lacked any orginality and was just not organic. People like her for her vocal ability and her ability to use her vocals to deliver uplifting and inspiring songs. That did not happen with Bionic. It is for those reasons that the album is a commercial failure. “Burlesque” will not help promote the tour. If anything that movie won’t do that well in terms of reviews and at the box office. The plot seems very unoriginal. The soundtrack album comes out on November 16th. That is the same day that the Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, Rihanna, Rascal Flatts, Nelly and Lee Dwyze release their albums. The soundtrack will be competeing against six other albums that will outsell it for that week. This means that the best the soundtrack will do is debuting at #7. I think it will be lower than that b/c there are other major releases in preceeding weeks such as Kings of Leon, Sugarland, Taylor swift etc. Those are album that can easily hold on in the top ten.

The only way her tour will do well is if she releases a new album of quality material. 240,000 albums sold in the US since June is really bad. Back To Basics sold more albums in its first week than Bionic has sold in four months. She needs good material. Plain and simple.

  18. iLoveXtina October 2, 2010

I’m ecstatic & worried. I hate to say this but everything Trent said is true. They need to release Prima Donna, Desnudate, Stronger Than Ever or Vanity (what I think will be good commercial singles). If her movie AND tour flops then the haters will have massive amounts of ammo against her -_-

  19. iLoveXtina October 2, 2010

@KOLFAN I agree w/ EVERYTHING you stated. I wished there were more song like Lift Me Up on the album, leave the sexual material out, & just do what you do best. Her voice is her only instrument so why not use it?

  20. theman1 October 2, 2010

Bionic is a great album. NMT’ was’nt bad bur rhe Gaga comparisons and bad attitude did it for that, let alone the fact that it was good but regular. She has a huge fanbase, so she’ll be good.

  21. Julie October 2, 2010

Looks like Irving Azoff is getting old and delusional as fans. Look at the artist he said will be big all flops. Avril? really since he works for avril he would say that. Floptina doesn’t even have interest for her movie let a lone for a tour. Look at recent press on new trailer for her new movie zip. google about 18 press talking about it. Not enough buzz for a holiday movie and against harry potter and such. they are stupid to think releasing on holiday will get the numbers. a flop movie like this better off releasing on a non holiday with no competition.

  22. LTM41 October 2, 2010

Im very disappointed with the way her team is handling Bionic. Why would they release a ballad like You Lost Me during the summer?! People want to listen to a fun song during the summer, not a sad one that will make them cry. She should have saved that song for the winter, and made WooHoo an official release. She needs to release positive songs that radio will play like Lift Me Up, and she defiantly needs to wash away her bitchie image for good.

She should defiantly focus on promoting her new movie and save the tour until shes gets her team together

  23. True Blue October 2, 2010

It’s completely pointless to tour for an album that everyone has forgotten about & moved on from. Take a year off, go make a REAL album, then come back.

And Sam, as for your assertion that your constant shades about Christina are “much deserved”, I have to say, no they’re not. Why does she deserve to be constantly reminded that her album flopped? Why does she deserve to be reminded that Lady Gaga is huge right now, as if that is somehow supposed to be a threat to her career? Most of your criticisms of X-Tina are personal and immature. If you think she deserves that, then I wonder what that says about you.

  24. Antom October 2, 2010

Haha I know it :)) xtinas no only sold more than 46.000.000albums but also 3sold out world tours 46.000.000 )(115.000.000)(94.000.000)(plus BIONIC TOUR is coming up 2011 haters F*** YOU ALL!!!!! Talent always will be sussces . I’m soo happy I cant wait to see queen xtina live in concert in the USA onemore time XTINA I love uuu 4ever girl!!

  25. Antom October 2, 2010

I don’t give a f*** about the tickets price$$for my QUEEN XTINA I will pay $$$$$$$werever just to see her ONEMORE TIME:))

  26. MARIAH CAREY October 3, 2010

Please support me and not Christina Aguilera.

  27. ??/ October 3, 2010

There are other artists who flopped harder than CA and are still on tour trying to promote their flop of an album in the US & UK!

  28. Jerome October 3, 2010

Let’s drop it and admit that no matter what the performance of Burlesque in the box office will be, Christina would still be on the hating end of it. If it flops, it will be entirely her fault. If it sells, Cher is the star. So let’s stop pretending that we’re analyzing it.

I have high hopes for Christina. I agree with Sam though. As much as how Bionic is a good album, I don’t see any reason why she would go on a tour. But if artists like Kylie can go at great lengths to show love to their fans by performing at small venues, I see no reason why she can’t.

Burlesque is getting quite the attention as of now. This could be her chance (or only chance) to pull herself back.

  29. Burrlesque/Bionicc October 3, 2010

Well people I will be there. The concert in 2006 was awesome. This concert will be even better because BIONIC is one of my favorite Christina Albums. So if you don’t go so what. I will be their and that is all that matters to me……….. see you soon Christina………..

  30. Robert October 3, 2010

If she does venues about 5-10k she’d be ok and there’s a lot of people who don’t pay for music but would happpily pay to see Christina live (most of my friends would pay to see her but don’t/very rarely pay for music). Also many fans might not have liked this album but want to see her live not to mention bf’s/gf’s, parents taking there kids ect will pay for tickets so I think she will do fine. Also the 250k that did buy her album are very dedicated fans so will be happy to see her live. Also if she gets a decent support act-some people will go just to see them.

  31. Greg October 3, 2010

“Bionic” is my favorite Christina album to date. The reason it was a flop was because she had a flop of a single (“Not Myself Tonight”) and after that, radio’s didn’t want to play her second single (“You Lost Me”) even though it is a GOOD SONG! Christina waited to long to release a new album and she expected her fans to still be beside her. I am still in love with Christina, but she needs to do something amazing for the new generation to like her and drop thew “I’m better than everyone” attitude.

  32. Brian October 9, 2010

Has anyone listed to Bionic??? It is a great album and you’ve lost out if you have not listed to it in its fullest

  33. KERRI November 13, 2010

I think she should start her tour in australia, her album went gold there….it will be good advertisement for the US and europe. Her most loyal or as she calls us ‘hard core’ fans are in aussie…bionic is a great album, but the wrong singles were released…’i am’ is better than beautiful, i agree with others, ‘prima donna’ and ‘vanity’ should have been released, even ‘monday morning’. Well, we will get burlesque numbers and lets not forget her new album she is recording NOW…I just wish she would release dates already arg!

  34. ol December 7, 2010

Christina Aguilera can do it , i recon a huge tour with a perfect sound and performance like never with her best hits as well some shows from BURLESQUE as well a video from show me how you Burlesque a chameleon tour xxxx love she is the best

  35. misterpibb December 22, 2010

I honestly think a 2011 tour for Christina Aguilera would be a great idea… maybe even her own venue in Las Vegas like Cher…. ugh hem… just a thought!!! Christina is such an amazing live performer with great vocals and dancing ability that i think is better than Britney, Gaga and even Madonna… I’m not into Britney or Gaga but I love Madonna and honestly at this point I would pay big bucks to see Christina at a fabulous venue in Las Vegas or other cities for that matter over going to a Madonna tour. I’m not being biased here or anything but I know Madonna is known for her big theatrical tours but I was very underwhelmed, disappointed and not really impressed with Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour… her last 2 tours were amazing, but on her Sticky and Sweet tour you could tell that Madonna’s age was starting to slow her down a bit plus the music from Hard Candy sucked anyway… My point here though is that I would rather pay big bucks to see an over the top Live performance from Christina Aguilera and maybe download a hot dance track from Madonna…. so who wins here? Christina and she keeps gettin better….
