‘I Ain’t Thru’, the 1st single from Keyshia Cole’s 4th studio album has been released. The song features Nicki Minaj and will be available on Cole’s new LP which hits stores in December. Give it a listen below:
I am frankly unimpressed by this song. The beat and the melody sound like most other R&B tracks on the radio today. Furthermore, Cole’s vocal performance was far from exciting. In fact, her voice sounded huskier than usual and she seemed to have problems singing on key.
This record sounded so messy that I thought that it was unmastered. Cole can (and has done) a lot better than this.
Sidebar: When exactly was this recorded? Minaj’s flow on her verse sounds a lot like her work from late 2009/early 2010.

Um…I am a huge Keyshia Cole fan! She is my gurl and I have all of her albums and thoroughly enjoy all of them (well the first two, the last one was just ok) Nicki is starting to grow on me, somewhat, but I must say I am greatly disappointed with this track. It is just so…blah!
Her vocals are not on point, she sounds hoarse and off key..basically everything Trent said! Just an overall disappointing track.
Nicki delivers her usual nursery school raps, but it wasn’t enough to save the track. *shrugs* it sounds more like an intro or simple album filler. I really hope she isn’t planning on releasing this as her first single.
It sucks cause I was really wanted to like it, but sadly I just can’t!
Plus I am beyond sick of everybody and their mama working with Nicki just to get a hit!

As far as the song goes. It sounds like something off of Keyshia’s old disk. I can listen to it but I know she comes harder. The beat is mediocre. Maybe I have to hear it more.

I actually though, enjoyed her last album, I think people just weren’t expecting her to do a complete 360 like that, from all the male bashing, to the high spirited stuff. It was just the wrong singles were picked, and she could have very well picked them herself now that you think about it. “Make Me Over,” “This Is Us,” and “Where This Love Could End Up,” would have kept that album on the charts and gave her Grammy nods, so believe me when I say I was disappointed too. And the pregnancy card can’t be used as an excuse, because Alicia is still promoting her s*** and she bout to pop any day now. Well the fact that Nicki has been on the scene for all of 3 mins and has 7 songs (features or not) to hit top 100 is a great accomplishment.
I doubt she will break any records with her album sells…..but this is her first album. Nicki has room to grow. Where as someone who has been in the game ..ummm lets say 15 years, probably has grown stale and would struggle to try and keep up.
Now K.C…..sounds atrocious. But in my opinion she doesn’t have a good voice. Some songs go with her voice, but not this one. And when she performs live, I have to “mute” my television.

I love Keyshia – have since her debut . If I had to rate her albums I’d give her debut an 8.5/10, her second a 9/10 and her third an 8.5/10.
The third needed to grow on me and after many listens I think it’s a good album BUT it seemed to be too drastic a change for her die-hard fans – it seemed like she was abandoning r&b for a smoother pop sound but anyway this track is just very ok.
Nikki doesn’t really add any oomph to it & the lyrics are just not something I want to hear from Keyshia at this point in her career. Hopefully this is just a “soft” release and she and her label will rethink it.
I’m not writing her off yet but after such a long hiatus she really needs to come harder to re-establish herself & regain her fan base.

At first, I didn’t like the song. As time went on, the song grew on me also. It was nice to hear Keyshia singing about something else other than breaking up for a change. It will take some time, but “I Ain’t Thru” will grow on other individuals too.
