X-Factor 2010: Eliminations (Week 1)

Published: Sunday 10th Oct 2010 by Sam

The X-Factor 2010 saw its first eliminations tonight. Find out who’s heading home this week…

{For those unfamiliar with The X Factor, the show is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. Now in it’s seventh season, the show is responsible for birthing the careers of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, and JLS. It’s US version is set to launch in 2011}.

After registering the lowest public vote of the contestants, Nicolo Festa was eliminated first.

Describing how he felt about being the first act sent home, the student said “I feel like crap”.

With group FYD and controversial Katie Waissel remaining as the acts with the lowest public support, the weekly sing-off proceeded with FYD taking on Rihanna’s ‘Don’t Stop The Music’, while Waissel sang Annie Lennox’s ‘Don’t Let Me Down’.

In the end, it was Waissel who was granted a pass onto next week’s show, after all judges (besides FYD’s mentor Simon Cowell) opted to save her.

I love Cher at the end of the day her performance (altho not perfect) was one of the best of the night, she is a star in the making I just wish people would stop believing what they read. At the end of the day she is 17 yrs old for god sake and should be allowed to be young and cocky and make mistakes, we have all been there. She just needs direction and a platform which her time on The X Factor will provide.
She is talented and will get better every week. Katie is S***!!! and needs to go along with some of the other novalty acts who are fun but let’s face would not stand up in the REAL WORLD!!!
Cher, Matt, Treyc and Aiden are the best and most likely to have a career in music.
