X-Factor 2010: Eliminations (Week 4)

Published: Sunday 31st Oct 2010 by Sam

The X-Factor 2010 saw its fourth set of eliminations tonight. Find out who’s heading home this week…

{For those unfamiliar with The X Factor, the show is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. Now in it’s seventh season, the show is responsible for birthing the careers of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, and JLS. It’s US version is set to launch in 2011}.

After registering the lowest public vote of the contestants, Belle Amie and Katie were two acts put on the chopping block.

The weekly sing-off proceeded with Belle Amie taking on Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Breakaway’, while Katie sung Etta James ‘Trust In Me’.

In the end, it was Katie who was granted a pass onto next week’s show, after the judges became tied on who to save. The act’s fate was then reverted back to the public vote – which revealed Belle Amie to have the lowest support – ultimately sending them home.

The X Factor continues on ITV1 next Saturday.

i think its time someone told cher lloyd that there is already a cheryl coal and she should be herself and not a clone of cheryl i’m sure i’m not the only 1 who can see this girl needs help with her addiction to cheryl for goodness sake she has the same hair colour and length, and a tattoo on her hand!!!! please someone help cher . i know lots of celebrities are adored by millions but this is uncomfortable to watch, she has a lovely voice but the need for her to copy cheryl really is sad

am i the only person who finds katie’s voice terrible? maybe i shouldn’t compare her to the original or other covers of the songs she sings? i mean, is she hearing a different melody when she is singing? Or do people vote for who they like the most of the bottom two rather than who sounds the best? I knew that Belle Amie wouldn’t have been staying. They don’t have that vocal cohesiveness of a real girl band.

It would be very tough to vote as all contestants are still green and missing something. Gets confusing. It isn’t just a singing contest as they are expected to entertain and have style. Matt succeeds 100% at making songs unique and modern. However, the last song Bleeding Love would have been better in my opinion if he performed it like he did the Amy Winehouse song at his audition. I liked him the way he was – down to earth – with that bit of Irish Brogue in his voice. I think Rebecca succeeds 100% with her voice but I am getting bored with her just standing there every week. She needs to show she has a bit of rhythm and/or can entertain the odd time. Any movement would help. Cher is an entertainer 100% but I’m not sure about her music style (if I would buy it). I thought her last performance was a bit shaky at the end and I thought she had trouble reaching the high notes – but we will never know because she was emotional. I think I would go to a concert of Matt’s and enjoy every musical moment and not be bored.

changed my mind. If I had to vote on the last performance it would be for Rebecca as her song choice and voice gave me chills. But I still don’t like her just standing there every week.
