Album Review: Rihanna – ‘Loud’

Open any dictionary and next to the word ‘loud’ you will find several definitions including ‘noisy’, ‘offensive’ and ‘vulgar’. If these are the type of meanings that Rihanna wants her listeners to derive from her new album then she has effectively achieved her goal.

‘Loud’ is the fifth studio album to be released by the Rihanna in as many years and it features the red haired vixen doing what she does best – attaching herself to the latest trends in Pop music. However, despite being bolstered by tight production and catchy melodies, Rihanna’s blatant lack of vocal skill and originality causes the 11-track LP to be far less impressive than those of her peers.

Like most devastating plane crashes, the album starts off on a high point with the expected third single, ‘S&M’. Vivacious and enticing, Rihanna delivers a respectable vocal performance while allowing her sexuality to be fully liberated over a mix of synths, drums and a foot-stomping beat. In fact, this song may be her most honest record to date as she belts “sticks and stones may break my bones but chains and whips excite me”.

The only other shining moments on ‘Loud’ include the vocally impressive ‘Complicated’ and Country/Alternative ‘California King Bed’. In both instances Rihanna actually challenges herself to open her mouth and sing in ways that she rarely ever dares to perform. Indeed, these tracks provide rare moments in her entire career where listeners might wish that the production was toned down to allow her voice to shine through as she belts and scales to new heights.

Now ‘Loud’ Airlines has begun its descent and things start going horribly wrong. In true Rihanna fashion, the rest of the album proves to be a collection of horrendous vocal performances and nonsensical chanting, proving exactly how limited she truly is as a vocalist.

Songs such as the sickeningly nasal ‘Cheers (Drink To That)’ and the painfully boring ‘Fading’ confirm that even the industry’s most clever producers cannot compensate for Rihanna’s limited ability as a singer. She unsuccessfully tries to force her voice to adapt the melody of the records, resulting in more painful than enjoyable results.

Yet, the carnage does not end there. Songs that Rihanna’s West Indian roots should have given her some advantages prove to be too much for her to handle. She awkwardly channels her fellow Caribbean native Tanya Stephens on the song ‘Man Down’ which, strangely enough, has a striking similarity to the Jamaican’s hit ‘It’s A Pity’. Rihanna is even upstaged by Nicki Minaj on ‘Raining Men’ who sounds more comfortable on the track than her Bajan counterpart.

When the smoke clears and the wreckage of this plane crash are revised, the main weakness of ‘Loud’ is that it is not a cohesive body of work. The album is simply a collection of singles from which Rihanna’s label can choose to service to radio. No wonder they have already chosen all of the future releases from this record to follow ‘What’s My Name? (Ft. Drake)’ and the annoyingly ever-present ‘Only Girl (In The World)’.

The fact that people in her camp had the nerve to compare this album to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ demonstrates that they must think that true music enthusiasts are relics of the past. On the contrary, it does not take a genius to realise that singles artists like Rihanna continue to fail to deliver the ground-breaking material that they promise. Her music might be loud but her blatant lack of artistic ability is even louder.

That Grape Juice Rating: 2/5 Stars

@Question This release was so close to Rated R, and with only a year since, there has been little to no time for growth for her. And with her voice on Complicated and California King Bed, I do see growth.

Anyway, it was not Rihanna’s goal with this album to be some conceptual masterpiece that would go down in history as one of the best pop records ever. OTHER people may have compared it to thriller early on, but I think that was way before anything was recorded and Rihanna had her idea in set. This album was simply to let Rihanna have some fun again. It was meant for her to put back on her smile, get out there and just be herself without all the drama and the darkness that was Rated R continue to be a cloud over her head (even if Rated R was severely underrated and actually a VERY good album, critically and even commercially…. contrary to popular belief.)

  4. Mr.S** November 15, 2010

I wonder where the Rihanna stans are now, since the her singles dramatically fell down on Itunes. Her album pre-orders even stopped. Lol…. Delusional stans got to accept that now.

  5. Heir November 15, 2010

i agree with tis critique. While i do like the songs on the album, they dont flow correctly. There is no growth on this album, but im sure it will do well since its rihanna

    Damn 2/5 though?

  7. Jay Scorpio November 15, 2010

you are a bias reviewer and a lair if you think her vocal ability has not improved within the last year.. Only Girl, Complicated, Fading show that she has been paying attention in vocal class so please stop tryna be messy….

if you gonna do a job please get it right

This whole project has been nothing but hype from her label, as well as her PR team, now it’s being managed by Roc Nation just before it’s release, another form of hype for this project. Now comparing this project to MJ was nothing but crazy. The songs that I’ve heard thus far is so similar to the sound of Kathy Perry’s, and Ke$ha’s songs. I think what her whole team was going for is what is selling and it’s club banger’s. Her music has no dept and it is so juvenile and childish. Williow Smith’s whip my hair sounds better with more catchy beats for a child.

I only come onto this website to read the articles and laugh at all of the crazy people (or “stans”, as they call themselves) argue over their stars in the commets section. But this is just ridiculous.

    -____________-

Come on you guys. My friend is studying journalism with me at Kingston University, and can throw together a more well rounded article / review in 2 and a half minutes. I think you should limit the Rihanna bashing posts (or negative posts period) to maybe once or twice a week – because honestly, when I first found you guys and read the whole “Bajan billy goat thing” I CRACKED UP! And I’m a Rihanna fan! But as the weeks went on, the novelty of it wore off and now it’s just comes across as cruel and petty.

Yes, the negativity and Rihanna posts may help raise site hits, but at the end of the day it lowers your credibility as a professional site. When it comes to journalism you can’t half ass it: you’re either well established or you’re just plain slopyy and messy like Media Take Out. And although M** might be a lot of things, they own up to it. You guys, not so much.

At the end of the day, the amount of interviews that you have on here will no longer be valid and you will no longer be taken seriously. Therefore, I suggest you readjust the tone that you take in some of these articles. Because let’s be real, 200+ comments on a post mean absolutely NOTHING if the article is biased and the bulk of the replies are people that don’t even know eachother ripping their heads off.

And to the “STANS”, come on now you guys. I’m 18, and I have liked Rihanna since she came out in 2005 / 06 with Pon De Replay (13 years old), and I have followed her career. Am I going to get riled up over the internet because someone I don’t know with a celebrity icon for a picture is taunting me? No.

This is the first (and last) time that I have ever made such a comment on a blog before. And I have also learned that everything that you put out into the universe comes back at you one way or another; including negative comments on the net. So I refrain from that.

If you agree with what I have to say, thanks. If you don’t agree, I’m sorry – we’re all entitled to an opinion. But let’s be a little more dignified here, people.

    #iMDONE.

  10. perry November 15, 2010

I actually really like some songs on the album. S&M, What’s My Name, Cheers, and Man Down are all amazing. But still, it’s not like there’s actually any artistic depth whatsoever. We’ve all come to accept that from good old Riri: catchy, generic pop songs, hence all the #1s. There’s no problem with that really. She’s just a singles artist.

I already know that I am not buying it, I just came on to see what you had to say Trent. I actually have to say, that you seem honest (and funny) in your review. I actually do like “California King (Bed).” She really does sound like she can sing on the track. I wonder if that is how she will actually sound live though. *Shrugs shoulders* Anyway, I haven’t listened to “S&M” or “Complicated” yet. I am really not in any rush to listen to these songs though. I will hear them when I hear them. I wonder what the stans (the delusional ones that is) have to say about your review. I guess I will find out tomorrow. Really, later today. I heard “Raining Men” a.k.a. TRASH. Horrible. Nicki Minaj only makes the song sound worse. As I said before, it’s a song for five year olds.

“Her music might be loud but her blatant lack of artistic ability is even louder.” I didn’t even have to hear the album in its entirety to know that Trent. Duh!

  15. BLACK November 15, 2010

GREAT REVIEW…….OMG I agree with every word

  16. LOVE AND PEACE!! November 15, 2010

OH BY THE WAY, I LIKE THE LOUD ALBUM. ITS ACTUALLY NICE AND HER BEST ALBUM VOCALLY! IM NOT BUYING IT BUT I DO LIKE IT!

  17. Chile November 15, 2010

@JayScorpio, now i hate to speak the truth because I AM however purchasing LOUD regardless of anything, but Rihanna’s vocals #CLEARLY have not improved, have you heard her singing Only Girl LIVE??? it’s horrendous. Sorry, it’s only the truth. I love this album, and i will be gettn my fix come tuesday, but with all honesty I have to agree with this review. This album is lackluster, but however because it’s Rihanna nobody is caring for quality. It’s gonna sell, she has a solid fan base. #GetLOUD 11.16.10

  18. the kiddz November 15, 2010

I’ll be purchasing “S&M”, but that’s about it. 2/5 though? Really? The production alone is a solid four. I still think this album is titled wrong. GGGB was “LOUD” this not so much, too many mid-tempos with the exception of Only Girl.

  19. Secret Voice November 15, 2010

LMAO@ people using “growth and Rih-Ho” in the same sentence,PLEEEEEZE!

Growth only comes from REAL artists, not some bad imitation of a lounge singer,I mean lets be real about this “no sanging s****”! I will be waiting for some real singer when my girl Jazmine Sullivan release her new cd! To hell with a sour bird that sounds like a sick goat!

  20. Keesha November 15, 2010

I know I’m not starting any stan “war.” I know idiots will respond to me though, calling me a hater and asking me why posted a comment in this post. My answer: I wanted to read Trent’s review and I wanted to post my thoughts. I am pretty sure me posting my comments on here won’t affect whether or not you buy her album anyway, so why do you even bother responding to me?

    Great answer, don’t you think?

  21. AALIYAH STAN November 15, 2010

I wish this site would stop pretending to be this unbiased, critically fair,truth-speaking know it all.

For one, the album was NEVER compared to Thriller. They said they wanted the album to be an album where every track could be a hit single, LIKE Thriller. Reading is very fundamental.

Secondly, this review is garbage. You guys are obsessed with Rihanna and i’m willing to bet money you’ll have LOUD blasting through your speakers when you buy it.

This website is pathetic and it will be my last time commenting her.

Great album, great vocals, great production, and an overall cohesive album. Well done, Rihanna.

  22. #YeahISaidIt November 15, 2010

Imma hit yall with the truth. Rihanna tracks are just for right now, they dont have longevity power. I know good music when i hear it and on that loud album the only good songs on it are just three. Two excellent and one quite good. Whats my name California king bed then fading are those three while the rest is honestly corny trash. Overrated trash. Love the way you lie screams desperation, did not deserve a recycling at all. All in all its an okay album, like her attempt to bring something different but not good good quality. Most of these songs will touch top 10 no doubt but hitting #1 won’t come easy cos WMN is the rude boy of loud and they obviously know that and rode with that from experience of rr. Fading got me cracking though, was she trying to throw shade? I swear the way the songs are on this album i think her emotions are everywhere, its not consistent but she tried some people will like it but it won’t hit big big big like her delusional ass thinks. I like her songs at first listen but after a while i feel scared to listen to it cause her voice is harsh, repetitive, strong it kinda starts scaring me so i don’t usually mess with her records for too long. Most importantly this is album will make people really give her a second eye because she cant mimick this voice live, its impossible for her to do so cause they are heavily digitally enhanced its actually scary the way and extent they did cause its actually coming back to hunt her. That is all my dears

  23. Keesha November 15, 2010

What is really pathetic is how people complain about how they bash Rihanna on the regular. You know this, so why come to this site if you feel that it is pathetic? I mean, no one is forcing you to visit this site. GOOD BYE.

  24. Chile November 15, 2010

@#YeahISaidIt you spoke the TRUTH. Her songs are becoming to generic, that comment about “what’s my name” was soooooo true, cause I said the same thing. I actually prefer Rated R over LOUD. #Honestly.

  25. Xfile November 15, 2010

    You silly boyz????? 4/5

  26. drfenty November 15, 2010

    @ trent/this site

you were obviously not going to give it a good review. nothing shocking here.

    @DAVID/W

you are completely correct, they took the bashing to a new level and its now just tacky.

i am a stan so i guess my opinion would be biased aswell, i personall think its her SECOND best effort after Rated R (horribly underrated) and slightly better than GGGB (less filler, more banger). I love the music she puts out and its definitley an evolution from her earlier work. to say rihanna hasnt progressed is simply denial of the facts. LOUD sounds nothing like Rated R, AGLM or Music Of the Sun, there may be a few similarities but @ the end of the day it IS a RIHANNA album.

this site will forever be nothing more than a battle ground for stan wars, it can never be credible and reviews will NEVER EVER in a million years be taken seriously.

ill just take this place for what it is and keep on snatching them wigs.

DID ANYONE REALLY THINK THAT THIS BLOG WAS GONNA GIVE A GOOD REVIEW OF THIS ALBUM PLEASE I HAVE TO AGREE WITH DAVIDW ON EVERYTHING HE SAID THIS BLOG ISN’T CREDIBLE YOU HAVE A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO DON’T KNOW ANYONE SAYING THE SAME S*** EVERYDAY THE OWNER REALLY DONT EVEN HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING JUST SHOW RIHANNA’S NAME AND PICTURE AND THE FIGHTING BEGINS
HERE IS A REAL CREDIBLE REVIEW
    this is from Entertainment Weekly

Last year was possibly the nadir of Rihanna’s young life, and it showed all over her aptly titled Rated R a bleak, bullet-cased chronicle of a domestic-violence victim–turned–sonic vigilante.

Loud, the 22-year-old Barbados native’s fifth disc, comes almost a year to the day after R, and only scant traces of that wounded warrior remain. In her place is a rebooted pop vixen, a Caribbean-accented kitten with a whip. What begins with late-night-Cinemax naughtiness (see: explicitly carnal opener ”S&M” and playful Drake collab ”What’s My Name?”) soon yields to the walk-away ballad ”Fading,” a gorgeously synthesized moment of sweet defiance. The Jameson-swilling, TGIF-toasting ”Cheers (Drink to That)” folds a left-field Avril Lavigne sample into a crunked party anthem, while the rum-pa-pum ragga ”Man Down” burrows neck-deep in island rhythms. Lead single ”Only Girl (In the World)” finds her playing the spiraling dance-floor siren, a role she carries through the airy ”Complicated.” Even while telling a recalcitrant man how hard he is to love, she sounds almost buoyant, her newly expanded vocals eager to scale the song’s high-altitude house beat.

At times the album’s lurid sexuality can feel forced: kink as oversold diva commodity. What Loud showcases best, though, is a star undefeated by her worst circumstances — and finding redemption in exactly the kind of pop nirvana that made her famous in the first place. A–

I honestly think that Rihanna’s “Rated R” was like Britney’s “Blackout”…they were both trying to make a comeback and both were amazing cds that never really got the recognition they deserved. And I think that Rihann’s “Loud” can be compared to Britney’s “Circus”…”Circus” was more on the lighter side, full of great, upbeat, fun, club bangers and a couple ballads, and produced singles that were hits and officially gave Miss Spears her comeback, which is what “Loud” is gunna do for Rihanna guaranteed!!

  37. #YeahISaidIt November 15, 2010

Complicated is nothing but screaming. damn, sounds immature the way the song was conveyed. This gal is OVERRATED gosh. She still singing about her ex? Which song on this album is for Matt? Someone tell me cos i don’t understand her emotions on this album. Yall know what kills rihanna fans? Rihanna fans are teenagers but the people who review them for award for recognition are not. They are people who have ears and unbiased opinion about good QUALITY music not a drive through music. The songs on this album are slightly better than rr but this just continues with her still mimicking rr with the message behind the song itself lyrically but just makes it sound different by screaming loudly instead with an upbeat sound. Any mature individual can not put this music on for an emotional boost. Complicated? Really? Wtf was complicated? She need to fire the producer of this record asaf cause it sound stupid and immature. Wmn is the only good s*** in this album the rest should be packed in a blending machine and remade, they sound unfinished, rushed, LOUD, crazy and scary to the ears. Don’t like the album at all but like about 3 songs i can manage to play 3 times in my lifetime btw don’t let us talk about that nicki song. All ill say is that its disappointing. I would give this album c+

  38. Me Damnit! November 15, 2010

Lol @ Trent. You will never let up will you! It gets old but it’s still so funny!

For the most part, I was unimpressed with the album. Just a bunch of hot beats, catchy lyrics and no real substance, the usual from her. But with the state that music is in, I wouldn’t be surprised if it spawned some hits.

‘Man Down’ (I think this one is about Drake) and ‘Raining Men’ are decent. I like it when she sings in here accent, but they get annoying and repetitive after a while.

I do agree that ‘Complicated’ and ‘California King Bed’ show growth and are two the standout tracks on the album. I’m pretty sure she had no part in writing these songs, but they do show growth at least lyrically. We all know (even her stans though they will never admit it) that she could ever sing either of those songs live. You can even hear the auto tune on ‘Complicated’.

In order to see if she really has growth vocally, we will have to hear her sing them live with no autotune. We’ll see if she releases these as singles.

  39. LOVE AND PEACE!! November 15, 2010

@#YeahISaidIt Are you TeamBreezy if so, get off this site and go vote and request!!

I love my Team but damn ya’ll spend too much time bashing someone who just doesnt matter! Rihanna is not going to make Chris #1 he is!

@Thriller Killer You make a valid point. Yes Yeah 3x doesn’t have a lot of views on Vevo. Thats mainly because other videos on youtube have more views. Remember hun, Overseas fans cant watch Vevo. And dont blame the song cause as much as you want to bash Chris you cant deny his talent and say that Yeah 3x sucks. The song unfortunately isnt being promoted and I highly doubt it will be. Oh well! In My Zone 2 coming and then an Album, so we can only wait and see what Chris has planned before you can honestly judge him and his career and say things like its over, and hes a flop.

  40. #YeahISaidIt November 15, 2010

This is why Beyonce has hit it so big . Mature reviewers relate with her song eg irreplaceable, singleladies, dangerously in love, halo, if i were a boy. You can throw these songs in for an emotional boost as a grown woman and your emotions get the kick you need it to. You relate, you feel good. California king bed Yesss that’s her best song that ever came out her mouth meeting a mature persons emotional needs. That producer needs a personal thank you card btw her and her ex need to stop singing about each other they both now sounding stupid but Deuces still slays, that’s a good song that man ever put out

  47. lexus November 15, 2010

Isn’t is painfully obvious how these guys contradict themselves?
You say on tracks like California King Bed and Complicated she shows she’s a good singer and bla bla and you say on the other tracks she shows she can’t sing? Huh? What sort of blatant contradiction is that? Could it be that maybe on the other songs the point is not to show her vocal prowess? And what latest trend has she attached herself to here? I’m not particularly trying to defend her, but she’s always been ahead of the trends musically.
This is pathetic. The hate on this site is….disgusting. Sam is an absolute disgrace to Nigerians. Feeding the stereotype that Nigerian people would stoop to any level for money.
    Karma is a b****. #thatisall.

  48. Mat November 15, 2010

You people are f*cked just cause she isnt like every other pop artist out there that all sound the same and are as boring as one another you think you can try say that Rihanna isnt good well sorry but just cause she sounds different doesnt make her bad it makes her better then any other pop artist around.

As for this album this is just growth and she shows yet again that she can keep doing things differently unlike everyone else that keep bringing albums out that sound just the same as the others.

So all i have to say is your f*cked

  49. Gucci November 15, 2010

    One word: PRESSED.

I’m happy for you. Not many blogs can say that Rihanna’s name and pictures pay for their rent. All of your reviews and all of your shade (the same recycled jokes from 2009) in an attempt to smear the girl….but even non fans can see you all are straight LYING about this album. You even tried miserably to compare a reggae song to another random ass reggae artist for the sake of controversy. All that and still NOTHING worked! People see right through the b*******. You bashed Only Girl to hell and it’s STILL #1 on the world chart. If after this you STILL think people give a f*** about your opinion, you need serious help. No one cares. You have ZERO influence on the buying public. Your posts even make non fans turn into fans. Ironic.

But wait…let’s not even talk about all the people who you give the most positive reviews flopping like a fish out of the ocean. I wonder why. This blog is trash, the owners are trash, and that’s pretty much it.

I am not a Rihanna fan at all yet I always enjoy her music. IMO rated R was a Great album, and Loud is a fun album,I like almost all the songs. her voice on records works for me yet her live ability is eh..yeah we wont go there, although she has her moment haha.

But truthfully,I understand your guys ( trent and sam) annoyance with her but its becoming kind of ridiculous and biased the way you bash her in her every post you write about her -which are a lot of posts- it takes away from your other wise great opinion, in my opinion. its almost like a personal vendetta and its clear that when it comes to your own fav artist ( f.e. mariah for trent or kelly for sam) your opinions are biased and you dont hardly get on them as hard when sometimes deserving. i understand its a blog and thats based on opinions, not research or fact or objectivity, but its just that whenever i see a rihanna post i already know what its gonna say and more importantly, how youre gonna say it. On the other hand I also understand that its business and its probably meant to generate comments and views and Im not trying to tell you by no means how to run your blog -WHICH I LOVE,one of my favs- but just trying to give my two cents.

  58. #YeahISaidIt November 15, 2010

@Tae read the review, kind of resemblance to my opinion on complicated (worst executed song on the album) and a host of other things i pointed out like Nicki’s. The review gave three stars and thats exactly what ill give. Nothing more than that

  59. Lindani November 15, 2010

This album deserves a 4/5 and Sam knows it, the song I like the most amongst all of them is ‘Carlifornia King Bed’…

  60. carl November 15, 2010

    THE ALBUM WAS CRAP!

  61. Robert November 15, 2010

This album is growing on me! I love Only Girl, What’s My Name, Cheers, Fading and Raining Men. I have to give the others a few more spins. Her album Rated R was also a grower but now I love it so much, hopefully the same will happen with Loud! I did expect more variation and depth but overall it’s a fun pop album!

RiRi is so popular here in Europe, I’m so happy people are always so positive about her, nobody is complaining about her voice, at least she sings live, she has her own style! I’ve seen her Last Girl On Earth concert and it was amazing, she will last forever!

  62. MC_BFLY November 15, 2010

Poor riri, if she wants to be taken seriously as an artist she needs to sit down and take creative control of her albums, I am not a riri Stan but I will say that GGGB had more direction than this, in the end it’s not about the hits but the quality as a whole that matters, after all they are calling this an ALBUM right? Yes the singles are somewhat good, but as a whole it really does nothing but fizzle.

  63. almostpia November 15, 2010

I agree with Chrissy about ‘Complicated’, it sounded just loud during the chorus. I heard previews of most of the songs and besides ‘What’s My Name’, nothing catches my ear. I at least like 3-4 songs on Rated R. I predict her first week #s will be 150,000-200,000 units in the US but she will sell high in places outside of the US. Rihanna is better liked outside of the US than in the US as evidence by her US tour cancellations. I wish her well.

  64. gio88 November 15, 2010

    I hope she will flop.

  65. Shakespeare November 15, 2010

  66. GangsterA November 15, 2010

i think the album is soild i really like it california king bed is the best song on the album matter fact i think its the best song by rihanna since russian roulette i don’t like skin too long 4 a s** song it may grow on me but at this point i don’t like it the album gets a 3.9/5

  67. cocololo November 15, 2010

totally agree. I love S&M, Whats My Name and Raining Men..but I got those songs STRAIGHT OFF OF LIMEWIRE.

this talentless h** wont get a DIME of my money. because 3 out of 11 or 12 songs just isnt enough to make me wanna buy your album, unless your name is BEYONCE or KANYE. carry on.

  68. keasyy November 15, 2010

    death

  69. LedaScorpio November 15, 2010

First off I am not a fan. A lot of my friends have tried to turn me on to her. Sorry just can’t. So as someone who isn’t a fan or hates her i’ll tell you this. Good Girl Gone Bad is and seems like it’ll be her shining star I Love the whole album. The problem with loud is just the hype. I’m sorry but you stans need to get a life and stop lying!!! What the hell happened to US!!! We used to demand so much out of music now crap like rihanna is number 1 AGAIN WITH A RUDE BOY REHASH!! Loud is for maybe a teenager or Young Adult 15-20. Who the hell wants to listen to this @ 25 and beyond? I like 3 songs. This reminds me of Bionic!! How people were like it’s a good album went and brought it and promptly gave it to my SUPER GAY BESTFRIEND!!! This Dance/Generic Trend needs to go. Back to the album

Overall: I like 3/11 songs which equals up to about 27% (1.5).
Reasons: Lack Of Vocals. Same Tired Music. No Growth
Plus S*** i’m only feeling 3 songs glad I was in the car with my homie. Now i’m not buying it. Plus we all know Rihanna is an single artist only. It’s a wonder she’s still around

  70. word November 15, 2010

your review is the worst ever, u stupid if u think people care about wat u have 2 say. everyone and their grand mama is gettin the album and thez nothing u can do about dat

  71. residentCritic November 15, 2010

    This was beautifully written #Thatisall

  72. LOVE/HATE November 15, 2010

LOUD IS STILL GONNA OUTSELL ALL YALL FAVES 🙂

  73. iAmCaprikorn November 15, 2010

I love how they use Rihanna to get hits on their website. Without her, That Grape Juice would be That Prune Juice in 2 weeks flat. Anytime they tweet and say “ooooh this is a big traffic week” go and count how many Rihanna posts they have with over 150 comments on them within a 7 day period… Anyhow I hope you haters alike will just go away… clearly this album is not a 2 of 5 because Trent just does as Sam asks. Trash Rihanna in whatever way is possible then put it up on the website. We all know Trent has been voguing DOWN to Only Girl since the day it hit the airwaves. With that being said, make your own opinion of the album. Rihanna is a SINGER and PERFORMER. She doesnt have to get on stage and whip her hair, grind her hips and make her ass clap to turn out a great performance. And as a person who is deep into music I can tell you one thing, If you actually pay attention to her live performances shes in tune about 90% of the time. Her nasally sound is signature to her music since her very first single Pon De Replay. So why hate on it 5 years and 5 albums down the line.

Dont be stupid like these ignorant bloggers on this site. All they know is suck on Mariahs left tit and bash Rihanna for ratings and hits.

  74. zith November 15, 2010

this is the finest R&B album to date by female artist!

I have to say this album proves Rihanna is one of the mainstream artists that everyone should respect.
    Her vocal ability improved,…
    Maturity sounds,…
    Catchy songsss..

I heard Beyonce is now preparing a new direction on her music (more to urban-electro R&B),…so she need to beat with Rihanna obviously!

i’ve bought LOUD yesterday and geust what??? —> i would rate it as ‘A’

  75. zith November 15, 2010

…and im a big fan of Rihanna from Asia!

  76. Vanessa Sanyauke November 15, 2010

I have to agree a bit with David. I am not a huge fan of Rihanna and i do not think she is vocally talented but you can’t keep bashing her down all the time as a blog. This album is one of her best compared to the others. So give credit where it is due. What’s my name is a sick track and the video is just sweet and simple and beautiful cinematography. The album is about a 3.5 stars out of 5 bearing in mind that she has 11 tracks. I have just started blogging and i may not be an expert but i think it is time blogs were honest and unbiased. Rihanna may not be the brightest spark confusing superstitous with superficial and smoking before her concerts but she is a human being at the end of the day and when we judge her album we should forget all that nonsense!!

  77. #YeahISaidIt November 15, 2010

@zith i could tell, that explains your review and giving loud an A you have to be a big fan lol

  78. UGh November 15, 2010

Um, am i the only one that prefers LOUD over Rated R? I thought Rated R was fake as she pretended to a rockstar. oh well.

I love What’s My Name, Complicated, the chorus from S & M and Nicki’s part in Raining Man. I really don’t know about her growing vocally because if you listen to Only Girl on the radio and then listen to it live there’s a HUGE difference. Although i like “complicated” i can’t imagine a good live vocal performance.

Skin is the worst song on the album. It’s boring and i’m tired of her talking about getting f***** 😐

  79. UGh November 15, 2010

    @ DAVIDW

i agree with you. I was expecting an unbiased review. Although i agree with most of what Trent said he just couldn’t help being purposely negative.

  80. S*** November 15, 2010

I absolutely agree with trent’s 2/5 Star Rating. Poor Rihanna (& her producers), She thought she could pull off another B’day or Thriller & it ended up as a complete & total FAIL.

To start with, HALF the songs are STR8 up FILLER. The other half is just DECENT/MEDIOCRE. I feel like this album will deliver the Hits though not because the songs are good but cause they appeal to current Dumbed Down Disposable Fast Food Trends. But it will FLOP, Im almost certain cause the music is just not up to par. The Whole Album sounds like it was RUSHED for one & like she was trying to re-do the likes of PINK, KATTY PERRY, Avril Laven, KE$HA. The only good songs (& I use ‘good’ LIGHTLY) are Man Down, Raining Men, Skin, Cheers, S&M, & Only Girl, These are OKay but the rest is totally FILLER. This will be her DownFall.

Trent & Sam, for once yall are RIGHT.(RARE) 2.5/5

  81. #YeahISaidIt November 15, 2010

When everyone talks about this album thier only strong point is “whats my name is a smash” after that what other record on this album can you say like wmn is a strong smash, honestly? NONE NONE NONE they are all just bunch of songs that she’s screaming on and s*** with a hot beat.and solid autotone. Any unbiased person that listened to every track on this album, knows good music, mature, is not moved by the hype knows very very well this album sucks, just for the fact she put ltwyl2 tells me she’s just desperate for a hit and not QUALITY.

  82. Anna B November 15, 2010

if you noticed that they unpinned this post when it backfired
I remember when Rihanna first came out this blog loved her but they saw the money maker hate on everything she do and her fans and haters will argue
you haters talk about Rihanna being a puppet when fact all of you people who post multiple times are the puppets and the owners of this blog are the puppet masters I hope the fans and haters feel real stupid that you played into this gimmick
you will never see this blog being credible like Concrete Loop because they post what’s real they cant stand this blog they said at the party this weekend this blog is a joke
I really enjoyed Loud I like Rated R much better
Rihanna is very versatile and that will keep her in the game for a while
I’m glad she’s not like beyonce and the others she would get lost in the mix
the best songs to me are
    S&M
    What’s My Name
    Cheers
Raining Men ( and yes her flow was better than Nicki’s)
    Complicated
    Skin
of course the anthem Only Girl
and she sound excellent on Love The Way you Lie Part 2
    I give the album a B

  83. Trucie November 15, 2010

Managed to hear the entire album over the weekend. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to buy my copy tmw. Sam and Trent r biased of course, they hate this girl and so shldnt really give a review on her wrk or anyone elses for that matter. Listen to the album yourself and form ur own opinion. It really is a quality album. Both Rihanna and her team went to work on this one. Anyone who fails to see that obviously can’t see pass their hate to give credit where it’s due.

  84. S*** November 15, 2010

I do have to disagree with Trent about Complicated & California King Bed, I doubt sam would agree either. The word ‘RIHANNA’ & ‘BELT’ should NEVER be used in the same sentence & both these songs suck & she sounded as NASALLY as ever on the so called ‘Belt’. & all these songs on LOUD are extremely REPETITIVE, yet another indication of a RUSHED project. In closing her team could have done much better. Not one song is M**/Ipod Worthy in my opinion.

Seriously WAIT YOUR TURN, Wipe My Hair, Video Phone, Dueces >>> LOUD

  85. S*** November 15, 2010

& Whats my name SUCKS BTW, Is it not close to being the WORSE song??

Why do PPL like it & Why is it #1?, Its the Lamest Rihanna song ever…. 😐

  88. #YeahISaidIt November 15, 2010

Worst part she cant sing none of this songs live excellently. Gosh the music industry is a joke i swear

  89. Mari November 15, 2010

I’m not even bothering to read the review. The comments on the thread say it all. No one actually believes that Sam or Trent can be objective when it comes to Rihanna. Just like I had a good feeling that OG was going to be WW#1, S&M is probably going to notch another #1 on BB Hot 100 for Rihanna.

I don’t know what people are talking about when saying that Rihanna’s singles have tumbled down the itunes charts. WMN is #4 and Only Girl is #7. Who else has two singles in the top ten? WMN wasn’t even #1 on i-tunes when it went to #1 on BB Hot 100. So, who cares if it’s not #1 on US itunes right now? Airplay is exactly where it needs to be to keep the song in the top five when positions are released on Wednesday. It’s also worth mentioning that Only Girl has been in the top ten on US I-tunes for something like two months now, and that flies in the face of the accusation that the singles have no longevity.

I haven’t listened to the whole album, but I’m definitely buying.

  90. Doofus November 15, 2010

love the album and i will be buying it

  91. lexus November 15, 2010

“Singles artist” ? How many singles artists have sold 25 million albums? And to the #YEAHISAIDIMANIDIOT above, what “emotional boost” or vocal prowess am I meant to be taking away from Beyonce’s Diva? And Video Phone? I don’t know why yall even bothered. Only Girl will flop, what’s my name is crap, bla bla bla. Yet she’s number one in both the UK and US now.
    As always you #FAIL.

Loud is trash, junk yard music that ignorant people want to hype up. Beyonce shits on everything rihanna ever thought to do in her 22 year old life and beyond. She a beyonce wanna be but she fails tremendously ha ha ha.

  96. #YeahISaidIt November 15, 2010

Who are rihanna fans? Trash just like her music. Noise aka Loud was made specifically for you guys in mind ha ha ha ha.

  97. Becca November 15, 2010

    @DRFENTY

NO WAY! I too think Rated R is her best effort, but GGGB is definitely better than this. The only real filler on GGGB was “Say It” and “Question Existing”.

“Loud” just isn’t what it was promoted to be, and needs more of the “S&M” and “Only Girl” type tracks.

  98. LORD DANB_OFFICIAL November 15, 2010

geez… that was harsh! hahaha but whatever, i don’t like her so *shrugs* but anyway, i’m not gonna lie… i did like the album a lot. the PRODUCERS and WRITERS did an amaaazinggg job! Cheers and Man Down are my fave<3 and i completely agree with the last paragraph… it wasn't cohesive AT ALL. it was just a bunch of random, potential hits that they just threw together. which proves rihanna doesn't care about substance or artistry at all… just cares about getting another #1 and making money (and yet another reason why i don't like her). smh what a damn shame.

  112. sunny November 15, 2010

Face it. Without Rihanna ThatGrapeJuice.net would be non existent. She keeps the lights on in their neck of the woods.

Secondly, I am so glad I listened to the album before I read this because this review is so biased and contradicting it ain’t funny. I preordered the album a couple weeks ago and I cant wait to get it. DEAD at the haters saying “what do stans have to say after seeing this review?” Ummmm hello???? 117. 7EASTS November 15, 2010

I agree with DAVIDW , STAN , you need to stop the negative post about Rihanna, shes an artist and doing her thing, wether you like her music or not, thats your opinion and shouldnt be talked about on this site.

  118. Linda November 15, 2010

lmao…….the truth hurts sometimes but hey deal with it

  120. Hate Will Get You Nowhere November 15, 2010

This blog is incapable of giving unbiased opinions. This review sounds like some bitter stan who got jilted for an autograph or picture–just like they talk trash about Trey Songz because of the interview they did with him. The album is good and it will sell because while her voice isn’t on the level of say, Mariah and Whitney in their prime, she has commercial appeal. Having Eminem on the album alone is a good look, because we all know Eminem doesn’t just hop on ANYONE’S album. I predict she will sell around 180-200,000 copies 1st week out. “Raining Men”, “Cheers”, and either “Complicated” or “California King Bed” will probably be singles.

  121. truthfully November 15, 2010

…i don’t understand why Rihanna fans/stans come to this site… honestly.

The truth is that sam and trent have a brilliant business plan.

They know that Rihanna is one of the most hated females in the music industry especially after what happened last year. So they write negative posts about her and bash her because they know that the ppl who don’t like her, in most cases the CB fans, will flock to their site and increase their hits. On the flip side, they also know tha Rihanna has a plethora of fans wordlwide, her NAVY as they are called and they will fight for her to the end. So the Navy will also flock to the site and garner more hits for TGJ. Because of this back and forth banter between her fans and her haters, TGJ know that the hits will go throught the roof. Ever notice that a Rihanna post has way more comments than any other post? What Sam and Trent don’t realise is the flaw in the plan but I’ll keep that to myself. Keep those Rihanna posts coming TGJ!!!

    @sunny

    Exactly……they bias …….

  128. truthfully November 15, 2010

i am from the islands…..and i can tell u she doesnt have the voice for a pop singer she is a dj like Lady Saw and Tanya Stephenson that is why she sounds better on songs like “man down” whats my name” and “rude boy” ballads is not fro rihanna….i think she should stick to her roots…

  129. sunny November 15, 2010

    @ Truthfully

EW is biased??????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH ok sweetie, whatever you say.

  130. sunny November 15, 2010

    @ Truthfully

I am from the islands too and while I agree with you somewhat that she sounds good on the West Indian influenced songs, especially Man Down ( that is my songgggg, she KILLED that!!!), I really LOVE the ballads, esp Fading and California King Bed. I have had those on repeat. I just cannot get enough. I also love Skin ( I think it is so sensual) and while I didnt fall in love with Complicated at first it has grown on me tremendously and is also a fave at this point.

  131. Jean alchemist November 15, 2010

No matter what me or sam or trent says about her shes going to end up going double platinum, and her next album is coming out next year, and LOUD will sell like wildfire.nov 16 roll on

  132. Truth Seeker November 15, 2010

Look, the reality is Rihanna sucks as a singer – reality checked peeps will already know this. It’s no secret. However, there are 3-4 easy listening tracks with good melody and production (despite Rihanna’s horrid vocals) that will SELL and get radio AIRPLAY. Rihanna is the queen of electro poptart autotuned lip syncing of this current era. She will sell (the singles at least). Unless this era changes back to real singing, Rihanna will continue to be popular. Nothing you can do about it and tweeners these days have no taste in singing let alone true vocal stylists. They have no sense of musicality and music history. As long as the beats and production is there, vocalizing will be a secondary afterthought. Music producers have already admitted this. So no matter how much the truth is being told the lie will always sell. Only way to stop this madness is dont buy her s*** cd’s, dont request her s*** on radio, etc etc etc. Bitching on a musik blog aint gonna do anything. It has to start from elementary school, srusly…

  133. truthfully November 15, 2010

    @sunny

“complicated” isnt bad but she better not even try to perform that s*** live…..
all her ballad are pretty much machine made and studio edited so she will always have a hard time delivering them live……

  134. Blue Kid November 15, 2010

Def Jem, will be buying up her CD/albums and she will have to tour to pay the money back, that’s the way they do things at Def Jem.

Rihanna will probably buy the first 200,000 units her self.

Good for her it makes good since if you want to keep your status, but it is poor business since.

  135. Blue Kid November 15, 2010

I find it strange that people are already talking like they got the album before it even comes out, what in the hell the use in buying it, if you already down loaded it for free?

I haven’t heard any of her songs and I know I’m not buying the album, what type of fans downloads the album free?

I am a Rihanna fan, but I want be buying or listing to her album “LOUD” for free.

  136. dj dunkonthatbitch November 15, 2010

yalll the biggest bunch of hating c**** in the world. Rihanna is more talented than any of yall f*** heads here at thatgrapejuice.net. Yall try to act like Kelly Rowland has talent but that is a f****** joke she is a no talent ass clown just like yall

  139. Popseeker November 15, 2010

  140. funny people November 15, 2010

  141. drfenty November 15, 2010

    DEAAAAAAAAAAAAD@ beyonce fans !!!

    I CANNOT WITH YALLL

WHy is it that beyonce stans always want to compete with rihanna when they know Beyonces REAL PEERS have out sold her

DEAD @Norah JOnes OUtselling beoynces solo carurr with ONE ALBUM

DEAD @ ALICIA KEYS OUTSELING BEYONCE

    DEAD@ BRANDY OUTSELLING BEYONCE

to compare beyonce to rihanna is the biggest sign of weakness….beyonce came of the back of one of the most succesful group in the world, she had an established fan base and was doing tours/videos/promotion while rihanna was watching her on TV.

beyonce was been trying to get into the industry since she was 4, her father gave her vocal coaching and dance lessons and put herin every competition they could find since B came out of the womb. Along with this obvious advantage @ early exposure , beyonce also rose to stardom @ the expense of losing her closes personal friendships all the way from lataia to even now with Kelly, (you dont see them chill no mo)

rihanna was a simple island gwarl that got a big big break, she used her raw untrained talent to get to where she is today where as it is more than safe to say beyonce is a manufactured product of her stage father.

to compare rihannato beyonce simply illustrates the insecurity of beyonce fans who arent even supposed to like rihanna

its always the beyonce fans in her yelling about what songs they like of LOUD, bishes are u CRAZY?

im not here for that hypocritical mess.

  142. sunny November 15, 2010

    @ Blue Kid

I Don’t know if your comment was directed at me but i listened to the songs on youtube and I am still gonna buy her album. I preordered the album before I even heard the songs. I was just truly in great anticipation and couldn’t wait to hear the tracks. Just saying.

  143. sunny November 15, 2010

    @ Blue Kid
And the most important thing is that I have bought it. It’s not like I downloaded it for free and Im not gonna buy it. I just listened to the tracks on youtube. Rih is still gonna get my money!

  144. okkk November 15, 2010

Its catchy pop music, love it or hate it. Rated R > Loud; but I feels its one of the best cds this year.

  145. Gilberto November 15, 2010

I have listened “Only Girl” and “WMN”. I didn’t like both songs so I won’t waste my time listening to Loud. I won’t buy it (and I never would), ’cause I know it’s merely another Def Jam’s overproduced product with bad vocals and good beats to distract people from her lack of talent. Maybe I’ll give it a try after its re-releases, ’cause I know they’ll do it several times to get back all the money they have lost with “Rated R”. Or I’ll give Rihanna another chance with her next album, which is coming soon. As always.

P.S. Rihanna’s deluded stans don’t bring Beyoncé’s name up here ’cause you know she shits all over Rihanna’s big forehead. Rihanna isn’t even on Cassie level.

  146. getalifetrent November 15, 2010

Not for nothing, but your hatred for Rihanna is getting old. The fact of the matter is that she is what’s hot right now. Your biased opinion in this album review is making this website look like a tabloid rag as opposed to a music blog. Take a page out of Concrete Loop’s playbook, and support the artists that are doing their thing right now. The negativity on this site is making you look bad. Look at the reader’s comments. Everyone’s sick of the hate. Check yourself my friend.

  147. RosaRubbel November 15, 2010

    Rosa’s Review:

‘Loud’ is not an artistic valuable album, it’s just a simple fun album and no doubt it’s full of highlights and hits. I have to admit I was shocked when I caught myself listening to songs like ‘S&M’, ‘Raining Men’ a.k.a ‘Video Phone 5.0’ and ‘Complicated’ over and over again because they are very very generic, but there is less dance/pop I actually expected. Even though these songs are forgettable, I can’t deny they are very catchy, energetic and banging. Na na na Come On I like it! (‘S&M’). Oh oh oh yeah yeah (‘Raining Men’). It’s stuck in my head. All day, all night.
The loyal readers of you know I love ballads, that’s why I’m a big fan of ‘California King Bed’ and especially my favourite ‘Fading’. ‘California’ has a great guitar in it, which makes the whole song for me. I have to admit I cried to it the last few days. I know a lot of people hate ‘Fading’, because they think it’s boring. I don’t think so. The song starts with a beautiful sample & the whole melody is just like a fairytale. I was a little disappointed because the song is very short & the end could’ve been a little bit longer. Also a lot of fans dislike ‘Cheers’, which is one of my favourites too, I know y’all expected a HUGE club banger, but to me it’s just a great pub anthem. Just imagine you are at a party and this song will be played! ‘Man Down’ is definitely the fan favourite, maybe because it’s ‘Loud’s
‘Rude Boy’ in a way. ‘Skin’ is cute though, but it takes ages till the song actually takes off.
I can’t say if it’s better than ‘Rated R’ or not, I think my iPod will tell it in a few days/weeks!

    Rosa’s Top 5:
    1 Fading
    2 California King Bed
    3 Cheers
    4 Raining Men
    5 S&M

    Verdict: 3.25/5

    Love, Rosa.

  148. C November 15, 2010

heyyyyy I like Fading…they need to put more songs on the damn album

  149. Blue Kid November 15, 2010

    @ sunny

No! My comment was not directed at you, but was directed at the ones who are so call hard core fans that are illegally downloading her album, because you know, like I know it has leaked, “the entire album has leaked”!

I’m a fan of a different shade, I’m not buying her music because she only has good tracks Rihanna yodeling is another thing and I can’t handle her yodeling. If I could get the tracks with out her voice I would be very happy.

Rihanna is just another tool to keep the sheeple dumb down!

I cannot, I will not listen to a devil worshiper “none stop”!

You really sound dumb. You saying by Beyonce getting Vocal Lessons, before hand she already had a voice… or dance lessons like that’s a bad lol. Yeah Beyonce had a Vocal Coach like ALL the great singers had. You Always wanna be on top of ur caft. To where Rihanna thinks Smoking helps her voice which is the DUMBEST thing I ever heard what an idiot! If had an Vocal Coach she would know that and she wouldn’t sing through her nose lol.

  151. Blue Kid November 15, 2010

    Rihanna fans/stans need to know this, and fans of another shade need to know this! I don’t hate Rihanna, I’m not trying to shade her, Rihanna is shading herself! Rihanna has become the harlot and you that follower her are blind, like sheep to the slaughter being dumb down, for what???? {shaking head}

  153. drfenty November 15, 2010

    @BLASIAN

    did u read my post?

im talking about the time advantage beyonce had over rihanna

    n**** u blind?

beyonce had and still has the following advantages over rihanna

she has had longer years in the industry over 15+ years> rihanna had 5 years
beyonces parents supported her in her craft since she was 4> rihannas father was a crack head and her mother was a single parent
beyonce has Destinys Chils> rihanna had a fluke audition with a music exec on holiday
beyonce is MARRIED to Jay Z> rihanna introduced to him for an audition
beyonce was born into a relatively wealthy family> rihanna was not

why dont we compare beyonce with someone that has been around he late mid 90’s or someone he age?

    britney> beyonce
    alicia> beyonce
brandy> beyonce (maybe not so much now but beyonce has NOT outsold her)

rihanna can be compared to the likes of ciara, teairra , teyana…etc.

  154. funny people November 15, 2010

Like I said b4 if you don’t like the album, no one is forcing you to buy or listen to the songs. She made this album for her fans not for you.Another man’s meat is another man’s poison, so for you to insult her fans for liking her music is pointless and just shows how desperate you are.

  155. Blasian November 15, 2010

    drfenty

Beyonce has outsold Alicia Keys and Brandy in Record sales. And Beyonce has out sold Britney in album sales since she went solo in 2003. Not Only That was Named Female of the Decade with ONLY 3 albums LOL! Try again

  156. Gilberto November 15, 2010

    drfenty,
Britney, Alicia and Brandy are so bigger than Beyoncé, but Beyoncé is the female artist of the last decade. She was the most succesful one.
if you take a look, Britney is done. She isn’t the ‘it’ girl and her world wide success is fading. “I Am… Sasha Fierce” has sold more albums than “Circus” and “Blackout” together. And since Beyoncé’s debut, Beyoncé has sold more albums than Britney. Do I have to say Beyoncé is a better singer and dancer than Britney?
Alicia Keys is really talentend, she’s amazing singer. But she haven’t got any stage presence, she’s always with that piano. YAWN! And she doesn’t have the same world wide appeal than Beyoncé. And also Beyoncé is above her on the most succesful artists of the last decade.
Brandy? LOL. You are trying pretty hard. Brandy is doing “Dancing with the Stars”! Which is a place for C and D celebrities. In other hands, Beyoncé is doing sold out concerts, receiving awards and gaining money.
    YOU FAIL.

    LMAO @ Brandy. I can’t.

  157. Kyle November 15, 2010

I will buy my copy tomorrow. I’ve always been a Rihanna fan and I accept her music for what it is: fun danceable pop/R&B music. I try not to take her too seriously although I thought “Rated R” was a good change for her and showed us some growth. I’ll be interested to see how this album fares on the charts next week with Taylor Swift, Susan Boyle, Rascal Flatts and Kid Rock all having just released new albums.

  158. Secret Voice November 15, 2010

I’m LMAO @ you Rih-Ho Stans. You come here talking about Sam and Trent can’t be unbias which is funny because every blog I see are so bias for that bytch until it’s not even funny.

Sam and Trent keep it 1,000 when it comes to that ho and her non-existent talent. It’s a shame and at the same time funny as hell to see where one fool said that “Rih -Ho has one of the best R&B cd’s coming out”………..I say bytch don’t you even sit on your a** and compare anything that shytty bytch does to R&B.This is why I luv Sam and Trent because they keep it hella real when it comes to that heavily made-up bytch!

You delusional Rih-Ho stans are definitely a reflection of her.You get on blogs and everywhere else trying to bully people into believing what you believe about that thang but those of us with our own thought pattern resist that damn no talent s**** ho that you fools try to pass off as if she is the best talent,I’m like bytches stop being so damn basic! If you Rih stans like that ho then take your azzes to her sites and stop coming here trying to bully people into liking your h***** infested toad because the more you try to push that troll on people that don’t care if she even exist, the more many of us will RESIST THE BYTCH!

  159. Doofus November 15, 2010

TGJ Sam and Trent have lost all credibility. How could anyone with a sain mind expect them to give an honest review of anything that Rihanna does based on their EXPRESSED HATRED FOR and BIAS AGAINST anything and everything RIHANNA. It is truly sad that there are young people who follow this site that think that they Sam and Trent have any say or influence on the careers of stars such as Rihanna. They do not and thank God for that. Silly little boys.

Rihanna continues to shine. Love her or hate her. SO dear Sam and Trent focus on the stars that need your critique…

  160. Jr.Blogger November 15, 2010

I Disagree With Alot Of Stuff You Saying. Considering That She’s trying To Gain Her Good Girl Status Back The Album Was Good. Fading, And Complicated Were 2 Of The Best Songs On The Album. we All Know Rihanna’s Not The Best Of Singers So Why ever Talk About Her Vocals…..

  161. AuntieJackie November 15, 2010

    The production is GREAT
It has a few catchy songs, and on good one (What’s My Name, Raining Men) (LTWYL Pt.2)
Her voice is digitally altered to perfection

I’d say the album is 3/5

It doesn’t flow because it isn’t supposed to. It’s supposed to give her radio hits, which is her strength.

She’s no trying to get a number 1 album…she’s trying to be number 1 on itunes. She’s a new kind of pop-star. The kind with little talent who has their every move managed by her record company.

    Rihanna = Product Placement

That’s how record labels make money now…it’s not about the music…so let’s get that strait and then people would stop complaining….

  162. Mr.S** November 15, 2010

Rihanna’s gonna outsell my Fav’s? Oh please. Kanye West & Nicki Minaj are going to outsell soon. Rihanna won’t flop but she won’t break records either. Weak Live performances & “Oh Na Na” will not save her. Those 5 year old lyrics, “Oh Na Na, Whats My Name?”. If she don’t know , I think there’s a problem. I felt like her English on this album was decimated. Full on Carribean voice, which is nice but she isn’t a female Bob Marley, so I didn’t buy that s*** for a second. The album is ok. But her theme makes no sense, I see No growth. Good songs and decent autotuned voice, but where’s that feeling of satisfaction that I got from “Rated R?”, that was a good album. Loud is just a scheme cooked up by her team to make her more liked by the public & gays. You queens eat anything with dance music on it.

  163. Blue Kid November 15, 2010

  166. Keesha November 15, 2010

I kind of like “Fading” but I the editing of the vocals on the track. Don’t like “Cheers” though. It sucks. I just kind of like “California Kind (Bed)” although I am afraid to hear her try to sing it live and like I said, I kind of like “Fading” minus the vocal editing. It’s sad that some people really believe that this a good album. Overall, it sucks. I’m agreeing with Trent’s review more and more.

  167. Secret Voice November 15, 2010

I remember when Rih-Ho had the nerve to come out talking about “product placement” as if she actually knew what she was talking about ,LMAO! …..The other thing that was funny was how she talked about generic music.I was like “look at this,a generic bytch talking about generic music”.I’m like bytch step off the platform.

  168. Keesha November 15, 2010

@Funny People I’m know that I am posting my thoughts. If my and others opinions are not going to sway your decision to buy her album anyway, why respond to us, subliminally for that matter?

Earth to @Nicky, Beyoncè is amazing don’t put her down because your gave reminds the world of World War 2!!!! Sorry, I had to go there, because some of these Rih stains are delusional. TGJ stop doing posts about this girl, your being to kind I would have given it a zero, but I enjoyed ‘Man Down’ and ‘Whats my name’ so I would give it a 1/100!!! And that’s me being kind to Rih! Like I have said before: her tracks are FIYAH, but when it comes to singing live the heat cools down!!!! God Bless you RihRih!!! Always look to him throughout difficulty *no shade intended*!!! Jenidwe Husdun >>>>> Beyoncè >>> Alicia Keys >>> Christina Aguleria >>> Britney Spears >>> Kelly Rowland >>> Keri Hilson >>> Ciara >>> Willow Smith >>> RIHANNA >>> Katy Perry >>> Ke$ha!!! That will alwalys be the order of quality of voice, unless Rihanna does something!!!!!

I see growth in her studio voice not her actual voice lmao. I hate people taking me for a fool cos thats what her studio voice versus her real voice makes me feel like. Give loud a month after its release and check its Sales. I wish she wrote fading herself though, feels like a female version of Deuces to me but with weaker punchlines. She did okay but something about the song sounds out of place. Did yall notice that with this album somethings didn’t fit? Like maybe the bridge didn’t fit, the chorus is over noisy, the beginning didn’t kick off right. The album is just unfinished and over processed

    ———————————————————-

    Couldnt agree more.
The making of LOUD says alot about what type of artist she is. She was there just because; like the face of a product of something. No real input whatsoever and she had the audacity to claim it represents the real her, but If I can recall a few months ago, Rated R was the real her too, so…
    I listened to a few tracks – 3/5.
Btw, I’m tired of talking about rihanna. It’s will be interesting to see what her albums sales is like though – 250k maybe.

  185. Tha Phoenix November 15, 2010

After the excellently produced and well written RR, I had my doubts about LOUD once some idiot said they were aiming for Thriller’s level.

I said it then, and I’ll say it again, comparing it to one of the greatest albums of all time WAS ONE OF THE WORST IDEAS DJ HAS EVER HAD. Comparisons would be made, and no matter how great LOUD turned out to be, it would be found wanting.

That said, after learning of all the names associated with the project, I was excited to hear the album – Rih’s camp always get her great songs.

But OG was disappointing and generic – I expected more from her. Rudeboy slayed and I said that from day one – Stargate really let her down with OG. But What’s My Name is a radio friendly song that I personally like. But, at the same time, I know I’ll only like it for the moment. I doubt anyone will remember it come this time next year.

As a whole, LOUD is OK. It isn’t the best album this year, nor is it the worst, but it is filled with singles and isn’t a cohesive piece of work. While impressed by Rih’s vocal improvement, evident on tracks such as California King Bed, I can’t help but wonder if she’ll deliver them live – especially after learning she likes to smoke prior to performing (a bad idea for any vocalist).

Conclusively, I look forward to the release of her next album in 2011. Maybe they’ll go down the RR route. RR was a great album; one of the best of last year, but it was simply poorly handled.

All this arguing and the bottom line is that Rihanna is still the STAR internationally known, while that grape juice and you haters are bottom feeders. Rihanna is Big you guys are small. Rihanna is Rich, you guys are poor, Rihanna stays adding fans, you guys have no fans, Rihanna is Blessed, you guys are bitter. You stay talking about rihanna daily, when rihanna don’t even know you exist. Looks like overall rihanna is the winner to me. Millions of people love her and a few not powerful enough, to make an impact hate her. THe haters are the minority. Rihanna wins again. Go rihanna keep living the dream that God has blessed you with. Let them eat their hearts out.

  189. Steven November 15, 2010

I think the album sounds great. To be honest, I did really like some tracks on Rated R, but it wasn’t my favorite. My favorite was good girl gone bad, and this sounds more similar to that era. I was disappointed to hear so many slow songs on Loud tho. I was expecting there to be mostly club/techno sounding tracks by the title, but some of the slower songs sound pretty good. I’m a huge fan of rihanna. And for those of you who say that she cannot sing, you should go see her live… It’s rare to see an artist that doesn’t lip synch these days, and rihanna sings live the entire show.

  190. Irish Cream November 15, 2010

IT seems strange that now rihanna is coming out with Loud, suddenly all the naysayers who downed Rated R and said so much negative stuff about it is now singing praises to Rated R saying it was great. Should have known that all that was just talk. NOw that loud is on the horizon now suddenly Rated R is the best thing you guys have ever heard huh? predictable haters. When loud is done and you guys already thrashed it to pieces, then you’re gonna start saying oh loud was better than the new offering. What I can’t seem to get is why the haters are even listening to the singles if they can’t stand nothing rihanna put out. Why are they even downloading from limewire. They can’t stand rihanna but they still want to hear what she has out. Haters are some confused mofo’s.

  191. zania November 15, 2010

IF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE LOVE RIHANNA SHE SHOULD GO PLATINUM HER FIRST WEEK OF SALES CORRECT?

  192. GROW UP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 15, 2010

BUT IT’S EVEN MORE SILLY FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT LIKE HER TO BE THE FIRST AND THE LAST TO POST.

JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE NEGATVITY SOUNDS BETTER THAN USING WORDS LIKE B****, HO ETC, DOES NOT MEAN UR NOT A HATER.

I DONT LIKE JASON DERELO OR LADY GAGA SO I STAY OF THE POST, BUT WHEN I DO COMMENT IT’S ONLY TO PAY A COMPLEMENT. I WONT ARGUE ABOUT HER TALENT BECAUSE ITS JUST AN OPINION BUT WHEN U CLICK A POST ALL THE TIME ONLY TO THROW SHADE U R A “HATER”

the comment above me makes me sick -.-
i don’t wanna see those damn numbers!

numbers don’t lie, and yes rihanna is making hit music.
BUT WHAT THE HELL..this has nothing to do with her real talent. she is not that talented!!!
she can sing average but she just knows what to release on what time, she is working out things on the smart way.
there are WAY better and realer artists out right now. period.

  195. Irish Cream November 15, 2010

@zania millions love rihanna deal with it. Don’t ask me about her first week sales cause i nor you can predict what it will be. Why don’t you just wait and see. You seem more concerned with what she is doing than she herself. Why is that? Why is another persons success your business.

  196. NICKY November 15, 2010

    @ ZANIA LOL

IF YOU USE THAT LOGIC , ONLY TAYLOR SWIFT IS LOVED BY MILLIONS

NO ARTIST HAS GONE PLATINUM IN THE LAST 5 YEARS BESIDES TAYLOR SWIFT AND LIL WAYNE

SO I GUESS MILLIONS OTHER ARTISTS ARENT LOVED ACCORDING TO YOU…..BOO SIT DOWN!

  197. zania November 15, 2010

IF RIHANNA IS SO GOOD, WHY IS SHE PROMOTING THIS ALBUM MORE THAN KATY PERY, TAYLOR SWIFT, NICKI MINAJ , KANYE? SHE IS WORKING HARD HOPING THAT PEOPLE WILL BUY HER ALBUM. THE OTHER PEOPLE IS PROMOTING THEIR ALBUM BUT NOT LIKE RIHANNA. SHE BEEN ON EVERY SHOW EVERY BLOG, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR HER NOT TO GO ATLEAST GOLD THE FIRST WEEK.

  198. GROW UP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 15, 2010

    OH YEA
I AM A HUGE RIHANNA FAN , BUT RATED R WAS A MUCH BETTER ALBUM. IT WAS SO DIFFERENT, BUT THIS ONE I WOULD GIVE A 3/5.

    STILL BUYING THOUGH

  199. Irish Cream November 15, 2010

@ ethan talent is subjective. YOu think she is not talented. Millions think she is. Now lets leave it at that. YOur taste may not be the same as someone else’s. That’s why rihanna is so successful. Many don’t seem to share your same taste.

  200. XTINA IS GOD November 15, 2010

    @ETHAN

MADONNA IS AN AVERAGE SINGER SO IS BRITNEY & SO IS JANET BUT THEY ARE ALL REGARDED AS LEGENDS & MUSICAL PIONEERS, THOSE THREE RARELY EVEN CO-WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC LIKE RIHANNA DOES = RIHANNA >>>>>>>.

RIHANNA COULD OUTSING ALL THOSE B******, GIVE IT 10 YEARS AND RIH WILL BE AT LEGENDARY STATUS TOO.

@ zania she is promoting cause she can. Its not her business what kathy perry kanyne and the others are doing. If they don’t want to promote. What’s it to rihanna. Zania why are you so pressed as to what rihanna’s first week standing will be. Is it gonna affect you in some way?

  203. XTINA IS GOD November 15, 2010

    @ZANIA

KATY PERRY HAS BEEN PROMOTING ALL OVER THE WORLD, ITALY, ENGLAND, FRANCE, BRAZIL, AMERICA.

TAYLOR SWIFT IS NOT EVEN AT INTERNATIONAL STATUS LIKE RIHANNA = WHY SHE ONLY SOLD WELL IN THE U.S. SHE DIDINT PROMO OUTSIDE THE U.S. BECAUSE AINT NO-ONE OUTSIDE AMERICA INTERESTED IN THAT BLONDE LITTLE H**.

NICKI MINAJ IS ONLY RELEASING HER DEBUT ALBUM, WHY WOULD SHE BE DOING PROMO OUTSIDE THE U.S. ?

    KANYE’S PROMO WILL BEGIN SOON.

    THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK

    #OWNED

  204. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ November 15, 2010

2/5? Come on, I’d say more like a 3/5, and mainly because of the phenomenal production. However, of course, she doesn’t deliver with the vocals. Not to mention, I think she should have had like 2 to 3 more songs to make up for the songs I hate like OG. But S&M and What’s My Name are my favorite songs.

DEAD @ Dr. Fenty saying Britney, Alicia, and Brandy >>> Beyonce! Really? STOP! LOL!

I like all this Beyonce talk, though! Keep it up fools!

  205. drfenty November 15, 2010

    @Zania

rihanna is promoting like anyone else wud. nikki been promoting the comin of pink friday since she released ‘MONSTER’ in the begining of summer.

Kanye been releasing tracks and has ‘GOOD fridays since end of august.

rihanna ha sonly performed once in america on SNL and is only really doing massive promo the past week in europe and the coming week in america….so lets keep the facts cute booo.

  206. zania November 15, 2010

SHE IS PROMOTING THIS ALBUM BECAUSE SHE HAS TO, BECAUSE OF HER PREVIOUS ALBUMS FIRST WEEK SALES IN THE US WASN’T GOOD. DEF JAM NEEDS THEIR MONEY BACK FROM ALL THE PROMOS THEY DID ON HER. BEYONCE DID AN ALBUM THREE YEARS AGO AND STILL MAKING MONEY AND WINNING AWARDS OFF THAT ALBUM THIS PAST YEAR. BEYONCE DON’T HAVE TO APPEAR ON EVERY SHOW AND EVERY BLOG TO PROMOTE HER ALBUM, BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS SHE ALWAYS BRING GOOD MUSIC AND HER ALBUMS ALWAYS SOLD.

  207. hahahahahaha November 15, 2010

@Funny people and anybody else, I’m not trying to sway anyone’s opinion. I am posting my thoughts. I listened to some of the songs and and a formed an opinion based on what I heard. If you are buying her album, good for you, but I don’t appreciate people saying that I am a mess or that I need to shut up just because I don’t like her album and I stated my opinion. NOT BECAUSE SHE IS ARTIST, SHE DOES THINGS TO GET ATTENTION, LIKE HER CRAZY RED HAIR OR ALWAYS WEARING CONTROVERSY CLOTHING OR JEWERLY. TOO BAD SHE IS NOT GETTING ALL THE ATTENTION BECAUSE OF HER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES. LOL

  220. funny people November 15, 2010

@keesha, that is why I said she made this album for her fans not for you. Nobody forced to you to listen to it let alone buy it. You gave an opinion which was uncalled for since you aren’t a fan in the first place and for you to say no one calls her fans opinion lies is a bloody lie. Get your facts straight.

And to those who claim that her company buys her album and try as much as possible to belive that she doesn’t. You can keep saying that to yourselves if that would make you sleep at night.

    @ Keesha

EXACTLY. YOU think it is sad that we think it is a good album and that is YOUR opinion. THEY think you are a mess because you do not like the album and that is THEIR opinion. So I really do not get the point you are trying to prove.,

  231. MADD MEN November 15, 2010

for those who are so curious about her live performances(for the songs on LOUD), including CK B and Complicated, i say to you: “u’ve been having a problem with the “nasal” voice (as yall claim) for almost 6 yrs now, give it up, cause whether she performs it well live or not, there’s only one thing yall be sayin”she sucks live, she has no talent, y does she have a record deal, etc”

its burns me inside when some ppl find joy in attacking other..
yall keep saying that her fan/stan, keeps throwing #1s, cause thats what rihanna is only known for……………but i see yall keep hating and is stuck on a repetitive tone when it come to rihanna, is that what yall are known for.

this s*** is getting old, and the only reason y i keep commenting (which i say im gonna stop) is to try knocking some sense into you guys.

for those who now love/like RR and cant get it out of their heads that it is her best album….i say to you” where were u guys during the rated r era” “yall are the most pathetic liars, demeaning the current album while playing hypocrisy to an album(RR) yall claim to be a bad album back in 09

  232. scorpio November 15, 2010

LMFAO! How many of y’all will be buying this ish? NOT THE SINGLES BUT THE ENTIRE ALBUM?

  233. Yellow Gorillah November 15, 2010

  234. Jean alchemist November 15, 2010

What number are her songs on i tunes anyway?/what number is whip my hair? That 2011 album and hairstyle is coming soon and she will be in a much better place than she was in the loud era!,cos the loud era is an era of sober reflection and the true happiness will come with d 2011,or she breaks up with matt hemp and goes dark again 4 d 2011 lp,and then happy and kicking leaves again in the 2012 lp

  235. 2BAD2BME November 15, 2010

THEY DONT GET TIRED OF TALKIN ABOUT HER?

  236. MADD MEN November 15, 2010

to those that says rihanna is on every blog ” its not her fault, she is”

i saw coloured girls movie, and when asked who should be on the cover of the mag, the chick said, to put rihanna cause she is the hottest chic out right now….

so the blogs haunt rihanna every move inorder for their blog to keep running..cause whether u hate her(BLASIN) or like her(BLUE KID) or love her(RIRILOUD, DR FENTY) or obsessed(like our friend JEAN ALCHEMIST) or possess(NICKY) it doesnt matter, cause rihanna does it value to those blogs…………….for example TGJ, without a rihanna post, there wouldnt be more than 25 comment per day…

  237. Keesha November 15, 2010

@Funny People I’ve come to realize that this is a blog site, not a fan site for Rihanna. When will you realize this? My opinion is called for because Trent asked for our thoughts on this post that he wrote.

  238. number1k9 November 15, 2010

    This
    Album
    Is
    AT
    LEAST

    A

    3.5 stars out of 5.

It is filled with catchy tunes, and they aren’t half bad. “Fading” was not a bad song either. . . This entire review = rubbish, and I’m not a hardcore Rih stan, I just know good Pop music. pssssssh! N-E-X-T!

  239. remmy November 15, 2010

The problem with her is no matter how good the song may be, in the back of your mind your thinking: she can’t sing that live, or how did they make her voice sound good?, or who REALLY wrote this. Song for her?…bottom line she comes off like a puppet that can’t hide her “puppetness” live…you wanna wish her the best cuz she seems like a nice girl, but then your like what does the say for music when this chick is successful when there prob a girl in your office where you work that can sing circles around her…

  240. Jean alchemist November 15, 2010

Talking about dv on a happy place album(out of place)talking bout ex in a happy lp eh,love d way u lie pt 2 in a happy place leaf kicking lp eh?/mash up just as d review said, jumbled singles stapled 2getha/wat happnd 2 concept,sheep-hanna aint no beyonce and never will be,shes gonna end up like sisqo.man o man yall remember thong song back in d day(those of u dat r old enuff) man o man yall remember umbrella back in d day,we go be sayin dat soon, were seeing d beginings of it already

  241. Keesha November 15, 2010

@Sunny It was the mistake of responding to people that I should have just ignored in the first place. Like what I’m doing right now. Really it’s stalling from studying for physics.

    Well back to studying.

  242. Keesha November 15, 2010

@Remmy you’re the person that I should have responded to. That is totally how I feel about Rihanna.

  243. funny people November 15, 2010

@keesha, and howcome when they ask the same way on another post I don’t see your comments but you are on a Rihanna post 247. Nobody called this site a fan site since that’s what you use as backup all the time. However if you never liked her songs in the first place why bother.
@Jeanalchemist, I know you are a Nigerian, although from what I am seeing you are the ignorant one because NIgerians are very smart people.

  244. sunny November 15, 2010

    @ REMY

Don’t hate on Rihanna because she made it. Hate on the ppl who signed her then. She didn’t sign herself. She took an opportunity presented to her and ran with it. She out there making an honest living doing what she loves to do. Let the girls out there who can sing circles around her and are desirous of being in the industry get up and get out there and try to make it like she has.

  245. Keesha November 15, 2010

@Funny People I go on every post, I just don’t post comments on every post though. And I don’t post on every Rihanna post. The reason why I said that this is not a fan site is because you called my opinion on this post uncalled for since I am not a fan of Rihanna. And now I really have to get back to studying.

  246. Keesha November 15, 2010

@Sunny I really don’t think that @Remmy is hating on Rihanna, I think that @Remmy is talking about the record labels that care only about money. Now I really am off to study.

  247. sunny November 15, 2010

    @Keesha

Remmy may not be hating on Rihanna but they are many others who fell like him and hate Rihanna for it and I really cannot fathom why.

Oh, lady, you just earned our 15 bucks. Rihanna will sell millions of copies of Loud, her fifth album, and she’ll deserve every penny of it — not because it’s a dependably excellent club-shaker, though it is, but because no woman should have to endure the kind of pick-up line Drake shoots her way on “What’s My Name,” the record’s second single. “I heard you good with those soft lips / Yeah you know word of mouth,” purrs the Canadian rapper (and Ri-Ri’s rumored fling). “The square root of 69 is 8 something, right / ‘Cuz I been trying to work it out.”

Woof. But while Casanova rolls over in his grave, Rihanna smirks and takes it in stride. Drake may open the track, but she reigns in their shared world — with a coquettish flip, she glides into a chorus that leaves no doubt: “Hey boy, really wanna see / If you can go downtown with a girl like me.” In the video, she struts happily around New York’s Lower East Side in a zebra-striped jacket, a nod to the actual animal she sat atop in the video for last year’s “Rude Boy” — with her bodysuit covered in Keith Haring-esque graffiti to match the floor and walls, like Haring himself was bodypainted to melt into his own squiggly backdrop in Annie Liebovitz’s 1986 portrait. “Rude Boy,” from last year’s defiantly terse but uneven Rated X, was released when the young pop star was still struggling to overcome her well-documented romantic difficulties with boyfriend Chris Brown, and seemed about to melt into the tabloid stories.

One year later, at just 22 years old, the remarkably sharp Barbadian-born pop star is now a woman with full, healthy claim to her sexuality, someone who’ll trill the sauciest lines while making damn sure her company is worth her while. None of the salacious hooks are a promise to any man, because they’re delivered for her own empowerment, and Loud offers a confident female ethos on par with the best of Beyonce or Shakira. Even in Rihanna’s darkest moments, she asserts that she deserves the best because she offers it in return.

Vocally and production-wise, lead single “Only Girl in the World” sets the album’s tone — Loud is nothing if not a literal title. Rihanna is at full-scale belt, and each track seems alchemized to induce the backing harmonies of hundreds of tipsy dancers. On the lasciviously bass-heavy opener “S&M,” the singer’s voice goes stratospheric over an electro pulse; “Man Down” forays into dancehall with poppy pep. “Cheers (Drink to That)” inexplicably samples Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You” (just the “yeah-yeah” yawps) and the thin track, produced by Runners, can’t support Rihanna’s forceful verses. But “California King Bed” is a wrenching ballad about the waking death of a relationship, the stage of limbo before the final crash; it’s so well-delivered, in fact, that it’s hard to hear.

“Raining Men” is the album’s highlight, a gloriously eccentric collaboration with Nicki Minaj that entwines their minor-key hyperventilating, air sirens dissolving into mind-melting bass, and the scene-stealing Minaj’s breathless contortion of the simple word “really” into its own fully demented sideshow.

Loud is a hard-won battle, and for that, it almost makes sense that it doesn’t contain any tracks as effortlessly bright as Rihanna’s 2007 zeitgeist smash “Umbrella.” This is a more mature nod to the bubbly pop that established her fame. And it’s a statement from a woman who’s come into her own, and who won’t be going anywhere that isn’t worth her while. We could all do worse than to follow her lead.

S&M will make it to #1!
try listen to Fading & California King Bed,..they’re just perfect!

why keep comparing to Beyonce?..Beyonce already in this industry earlier than Rihanna!..so,.pity on her because she has less single reach #1 on Billboard,..thanks to gaga coz help Beyonce on #1 with Telephone!

her album I’m ShaSha fierce,..only Single ladies reach #1 on Billboard.
what other smash singles by Beyonce from Im shasha fierce??

Beyonce really need to learn something from Rihanna on how to be on top!..not just being the awards sweeper (lucky B coz awards nowadays prefer on popularity)

I do agree she has a golden vocal,..but in term of music,..she’s out of the league.
B’day also has Irreplaceable as a smash single (what else other than that?)…i don’t see why a talented girl like B is sooo hard to be on #1?

    After a decade in this industry!..pity u B!

Rihanna’s album may sold less than Beyonce overall,..but, hey who cares??
    Look at Beyonce,..she has lots advtage,..from Destiny’s child to solo,..and with jay-Z!
    But rihanna,…she starts from zero!
    and look at her now!

  252. Jasmine November 15, 2010

Ok, first enough with the whole Chris brown/Rihanna thing. I’m teambreezy but the s*** is annoying. Move on. I came on here to see if this album would live up to the hype and from majority of the reviews (since her album leaked already) alot of people are saying she hasn’t really gown. I have to hear the songs myself to make that judgement. But enough with thus Stan war. I’m tired of seeing it everywhere I go. I’m a little hesitant to listen to the songs because people are really not that pleased with this. And I do agree that she is just keeping up with the trends. GGGB was the last album I really like. Rated R wasn’t my cup of tea. Only songs I liked was rockstar 101. But I’ll listen to the songs to see if its worth buying. I don’t buy too many albums now cuz people in the industry make b******* music now so if I spend money on it, it better be good from the first song to the last. Again, I’m not trying to start stan wars with her fans. Arguing over the Internet is childish and a waste of time. Plus I can still appreciate SOME of her music. But overall, I’m not convinced yet. I have to hear some songs.

  253. Unimpressed November 15, 2010

And there your have it folks the ONLY HONEST REVIEW of that DISASTER Rihanna calls her 5th studio CD!

“attaching herself to the latest trends in Pop music” ….BASICALLY! Nothing new or different.

  254. zania November 15, 2010

@ZITH. NOW THAT WAS A CRAZY STATEMENT, SAYING THAT BEYONCE NEEDS TO LEARN FROM RIHANNA ON HOW TO BE ON TOP AND NOT JUST WIN AWARDS. IN LIFE, YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT IS TO RECEIVE AN AWARD FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK. WHETHER ITS FROM SCHOOL, JOB, ATHLETES,SINGERS, ACTORS EVERYONE WANTS TO BE ACKNOWLEDGE WITH ALL THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENT. RIHANNA HAS A LONG WAY TO ACHIEVE WHAT BEYONCE HAS.

Anyway, it was not Rihanna’s goal with this album to be some conceptual masterpiece that would go down in history as one of the best pop records ever.
    ———————–

What a sad thing to say and I hope for her fan’s sake it is not true! I would hope that everytime a recording artsist steps into the “booth” their only intention is to improve on their last project. I don’t care if the artist is male, female, black, white, Pop, Hip Hop, Jazz or R&B!

    I expect a “conceptual masterpiece”!

  256. where is Matt?? November 15, 2010

I can’t wait for Rihanna CD tomorrow by this I mean this 1million in sales. lmfaooooo

maybe just maybe Def Jam will buy them ha! I tell you one thing she no Taylor Swift. And another thing Where Is Her Man? He should be so proud of her right now. Can I say that a picture will come in a few days lmfao Those fake asses

  257. Love the way ya hate November 15, 2010

Yawns* at backlash on this little island girl who came from nothing and became an international superstar in a short number of years. Sure, she doesn’t have the best voice, not necessary to throw these biased, malicious statements towards this women who did nothing to absolutely no one.

On another note, California King Bed is an absolute gem on the album and must be serviced to radio immediately after S&M! I think this is one of the best songs she’s ever recorded vocally and emotionally out of her career.

  258. sunny November 15, 2010

IN LIFE, YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT IS TO RECEIVE AN AWARD FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK.
    ———————–

Although I totally agree with your defense of Beyonce, a proven success story whose great hype and actual ability compliment each other! However, ones greatest accomplishment is to do the very best and put forth the best effort possible. Those in position to grant awards may or may not see fit to give the award to the person who most deserves it! The best and the brightest don’t always receive the acknowledgement they so duly earn!

  261. I’M A BILLY GOAT November 15, 2010

    @Rihsus

    LMAO,

SPIN MAGAZINE HAS BEEN ON JAY-Z’S PAYROLL FOR YEARS. NATURALLY THEY AND ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE WILL GIVE ANY RIHANNA CD A GLOWING REPORT!

PERHAPS THIS IS A GREAT CD WHEN COMPARED TO KATY PERRY AND KE$HA! IT WILL NEVER BE THE QUALITY PRODUCT THAT MICHAEL JACKSON PRODUCED WITH THRILLER. REMEMBER HER RECODE LABEL CLAMINED THAT LOUR WOULD RIVAL THRILLER!

I HAVE NO DOUBT RIHANNA WILL SELL MILLIONS OF COPIES THAT IS ALREADY PREDETERMINED WHETHER THE FANS PURCHASE COPIES OR NOT! DEFSCAM WILL WORK OVER TIME TO ENSURE THE SUCCESS OF THIS CRAP CD!

“ONLY GIRL” – HURTS MY EARS BUT STILL LIKE IT ON LOW VOLUME
“WHAT’S MY NAME” – DRAKE IS THE ONLY REASON I LIKE IT

  271. CRAMPED November 15, 2010

Beyonce really need to learn something from Rihanna on how to be on top
    ————————————-
@ZITH – I have good feeling that this comment will come back to hunt very very soon.
Beyonce has been on top for decade and counting so you make no sense whatsoever.
Lady gaga and Taylor Swift are two other singers besides beyonce that are on top, but doesnt rely on numbers 1s to maintain their position in the industry.

not just being the awards sweeper (lucky B coz awards nowadays prefer on popularity)
    ————————————
R u saying rihanna is not as popular as beyonce?

I do agree she has a golden vocal,..but in term of music,..she’s out of the league.
B’day also has Irreplaceable as a smash single (what else other than that?)…i don’t see why a talented girl like B is sooo hard to be on #1?
    —————————————————–
Out of what league? You should be worry about rihana getting a number 1 album, some talent and credibility as a solid solo artist instead of beyonce number 1s.
Beyonce was the #1 female artist for the past decade, if thats not being on top, I dont know what is.
Rihanna stans are so jealous of beyonce its not even funny!

  272. Kevin November 15, 2010

    i like the songs!
i definitely gonna buy her album:)

  273. itaploy November 15, 2010

THAT RIHANNA REIGN AINT GOING LET UP1

  274. Carmello November 15, 2010

This album was horrible sorry, but I’m not buying it

  275. itaploy November 15, 2010

OH MY GOOD NESS! I JUST REALIZE WHTA TRENT IS DOING HERE!
I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN… U TRYING TO SABOTAGE RIH SALES WHEN HER ALBUM COMES OUT TOMORROW! U THINK THAT WRITING THIS “review that it will stop ppl from buying the album affecting her weekly sales!!!
brillant except that it aint gonna work.
i follow rihanna & i can tell u rih is very international the US may not love her but europe, africa and asia does! many of them all ready ordering their cds.

any ways not arguing r any thing but trent and sam it seem u have develop a serious hatered for rihanna but yet u can’t stop posting about her. y is that?
do u know that this make u look like u have psychological problems!
maybe have u ever thought u may b an undercover/confused fan or that maybe u like her secretly.
or r u still mad that rihanna refuse to do the interview with u?
if that’s the case u need to get over that! that was a long time ago!

yeah i know i played right into your ploy by commenting but seriously may be u need to look at things differently!

  276. funny people November 15, 2010

    Rock music- Vocals not necessary
Adult contemporary/ classical music- vocals extremely necessary
Pop music- vocals not necessay(feel good music)
    Rnb- vocals necessary
    Rap music- vocals not necessary

You can’t be a fan of rnb and expect pop to sound that way. Every genre has its own style. You don’t see josh groban or kyle lowder singing pop or rock or even susan boyle because that is not their style, so for you to expect Rihanna to sound like Mariah Carey or even Whitney is not possible. Rihanna’s song makes people feel good and losen up. So don’t insult other peoples voice because you are stuck with your rnb mentality.

  277. Blue Kid November 15, 2010

I’m not watching, a yodeling billy goat in time square.

  278. ADE November 15, 2010

Sam, your review is so flawed and s***. ‘Loud’ is the fifth studio album to be released by the Rihanna in as many years and it features the red haired vixen doing what she does best – attaching herself to the latest trends in Pop music. Rated R was so far removed from current trends in pop music, hence it’s poor performance, even though it’s her best piece of work so far. You could have at least removed the jumbo sized tampon, put your personal feelings aside and given it a fair and professional review. Loud is no where near as good as Rated R but 2 stars is just taking the p***. Anyway, it’s a decent effort and a few great songs on there (What’s My Name?, Man Down, Skin).

  279. Thriller Killer November 15, 2010

    @itaploy

Oh please how will this blog ruin Rihanna’s CD sells? They are only providing an honest review based on facts and not once again trying to use sympathy or association to help her sell a CD! Her CD should be judged based on its worth and nothing more!

  286. HATIN IS FOR SUCKAS November 15, 2010

Is this album even finished yet it sounds unfinished and poorly put together.

The only songs I heard were Only Girl, WMN, Fading, California King Bed, and LTWYL part 2.

This album is kinda trash to me. I will be honest and say that WMN has grown on me a little bit but not enough for me to listen to the whole entire song I only like Drake’s part and that its.

The other songs I only heard snippets of and I will say that S&M sounds like Only Girl. Cheers just hurts my ears. The song with Nicki Minja is irritating and I will say Nicki Minaj makes it that way the most. I don’t know about the other songs they probably were not good enough for me to remember them oh well. I think her best album was GGGB to me. I love breaking Dishes and Say it those are my ish.

Rated R was trash to me and I only heard like 4 or 5 songs. I heard Russian Roulette, Hard, Rockstar 101, and Rude Boy and the only song I liked was Hard and that its.

Rihanna needs to get in control of her own music and career and stop having tons of writers and producers come in the studio and write tons of song and letting her team pick only 10 to 11 songs for her album. She needs to get in on some of the writing or at least get to pick her own songs or at least tell the writes what she wants the topic for her album to be about cause in the end her team is going to end up choosing songs for her that she can’t sing live or some what can’t relate to or don’t make sense.

Some of these artist now a days might don’t write their own music but they at least have a hand in what they want the songs on their album to be about and have a hand in the theme and topic of their album. They don’t just go in the studio and be handed some lyrics and go in the booth and start singing a song knowing that they probably can’t sing the song like it sounds on the track or better live.

Who is Rihanna because every album she changes her image. She was the Island girl first then the Rock star Bad girl then she was the Gothic girl now she’s this fun colorful girl and every album she say this is the real me then goes and changes her image again. So who is the real Rihanna cause I’m confused.

    I woud give LOUD a 2 maybe 3 out of 5 stars.

    #NoShade just my opinion

I know I’m a hater and I’m pressed and I’m mad and Rihanna has 7 #1’s and she slaying my fav. It’s the same BS every Rihanna post nothing new. I can’t I just can’t with some of you Rih stans yall make me laugh everytime.

  287. Tha Phoenix November 16, 2010

Whoever said Madonna rarely writes her songs, clearly has little to no knowledge of music history. Check her credits – Madonna plays the guitar, produces and has always co-written her songs.

I like Rih, but there’s a reason Madonna is the Queen Of Pop.

If you must know Chris is doing just fine. Check the charts boo Yeah 3x is moving up the rhymthic chart and it just made the top 40.

  292. HATIN IS FOR SUCKAS November 16, 2010

I see #Wallpaper Wire is back or should say Nicky cause they are the same person.

@Wire you talk about being African like its a bad thing. If its bad then Rihanna’s mother is bad then since she’s african american to. You still on that kill your self s****** thing. Its not gone happen @Wire just live with it. The haters didn’t stop him before and they not gone stop him now. Chris is doing just fine where he’s at right now. He doesn’t have to buy up his singles to get a #1 hit he just put everything in gods hands and let everything fall into place. Just watch Rihanna and Deaf Scam are going to be exposed.

You should be saying poor Rihanna she can’t write her own songs or get a #1 album or get a #1 hit single without her label buying up her songs on the chart. I mean how did WMN go from 60 to 1 in a week thats suspect to me.

“You mad but so what I wish you best of luck now I’m finna throw them deuces up” I love that line

  293. Blue Kid November 16, 2010

But the fack still remains your fav record label bought all Rihanna singles.

NOW GO SIT YOUR ASS IN THE CORNER BYTCH YOU ARE TIRED

  295. Blue Kid November 16, 2010

    @ HATIN IS FOR SUCKAS

Rihanna mother is not African American, she is just plain African.

Rihanna is not an citizen of the US, she is just plan Bajan negro.

Like you said there is nothing wrong with that (being African) Black is beautiful. Black folks are the ones who are putting Rihanna out there in the first place and the one who are profiting off her as well are black. Lets time I check JayZ and Russel Simmon are black.

  298. toyin November 16, 2010

Rihanna is talented, you most not belted to be called talented. Her low notes are outstanding to me. Listen to Fire Bomb, Cold Case Love on Rated R. Those were nice songs. I like Loud, really expected more.. But if you give it all now, u will be irreverent just like Xtina. Same Belting, (ear bleeding tracks)kmt

But she should work on singing live, she tried when she sang strained Live.. Even had some Falsettos. But she need a vocal coach, even leona lewis has one.

Listen you told them right Chris is not going nowhere. Anywhy Rihanna is supposed to be on 106 & Park the GHETTO station for her new video with Drake. You all know 106 & Park strickly GHETTO HOODRATS SHOW.

I want to know WHY is Rihanna going to a GHETTO HOODRATS SHOW TO PERMOTE HER CD?

  310. HATIN IS FOR SUCKAS November 16, 2010

I guess know one has a answer to my question.

He had a #1 movie that grossed 60 million in sales not only did he star in the movie he was a co exeutive producers in the movie. He also was offered more movie rolls. He also got signed to one of the biggest best talent agencies in america the CAA [Creative Artist Agency]. He had a #1 song on the billbroad Hip Hop & R&B charts for 10 weeks. He has plenty of songs on the billbroad charts. He’s nominated for a AMA award in the male soul R&B catogory. He’s in a song writing group with a few other amazing writers and he also has his on record label CBE [Chris Brown Entertainment] So please tell me how is his career over with all this stuff that has happen in this year.

So before anyone says his career is over make sure you have facts and proof to back up what you say cause in the end you will end up looking stupid.

Chris Brown has the haters mad to the point where they have to wish and make up stuff to try to convince people that he’s career is over when thats not true so try again haters.

“I know you mad but so what I wish you best of luck now im finna throw them deuces up” I love that line

  323. zith November 16, 2010

    Zania,

do you think taylor swift is talented enough to win such Grammys??
i don’t see rihanna fans jealous with Beyonce,…but that’s the fact!
Can all you list down what are the singles from Beyonce at #1 on Billboard.

Of course Beyonce is far famous than Rihanna!,..look at her,..her movies, her Destiny’s Child, her collab with Gaga and married with Jay-Z!
..and not forget her collab with Shakira (when B’day seems to flop) after only one single (irreplcble) did very well!.

You can see Rihanna is from ‘zero’ to what we can see who she is now.
she’s struggle to be on top from the era of Britney & Beyonce,..

  324. zith November 16, 2010

    …in addition,

    zith,

all you Beyonce fans out there,..don’t keep comparing the selling numbers of Beyonce albums and Rihanna’s.
you should know that,..most fans of destiny’s child is now supporting Beyonce!

That doesn’t make sense. The fact Beyoncé was on a group, doesn’t mean she’s succesful ’cause of it. Take a look at the solo career of the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys’ members. Both bands were huge in the 90’s, but they didn’t have the same success at their solo efforts. And Beyoncé is bigger than Destiny’s Child. Lots of people have only started to know about DC after Beyoncé’s debut.

  328. zith November 16, 2010

    Gilberto,..

im not sure why their solo career flopped (for bsb & spice girls).
but look at Gwen, fergie, justin timberlake, and maybe cheryl cole.
obviously their popularity gained from their previous background (group).

im soo surprise when u say that lot people know beyonce more,.. rather than DC.
    god!

Rude Boy v.s Single ladies = R wins

  336. truth be told November 16, 2010

im a beyonce and rihanna fan in terms of music but if u compare each album from rihannas albums i listen to at leats 6 of the songs from each album i enjoyed……for me beyonces albums i dont really listen to …..i grew bored and videophone wasnt a great song……i am sasha fierce was very average i expected more…..her second album was appalling with about 11 tracks a a rerelease i loved deja vu and maybe kitty kat but that was about it….she shouted alot thru it……rihannas albums have always been produced right…..and i love how she sometimes mixes her creole into her music i.e the first album and man down on this one…..i also think she makes a good pop/rnb/ and could even do rock i.e fire bomb and shut up and drive……she does dance music only girl in the world….and is underrated as she does actually write some of her own songs….give the girl a break she has years to get better.why does everyone have to use the word flop……….

  337. RIHANNA STAN! November 16, 2010

i think the album is GREAT! i give it 10/10! freakin HATERS!

  338. DION-ISH November 17, 2010

    Lets Go Rihanna!!!

And Trent who?? Plz?? His review is obviously biased and anyone whom considers BEP – The Time and Keshas Music something to praise obviously deserves no credibility! BUH-BYE!!

  339. matreiya November 17, 2010

Now I am not a Beyonce fan, at all…matter of fact I hated Beyonce more than any celeb. Rihanna has become insufferable with this only girl crap. It truly is a dreadful song and her voice is terrible. It’s proof that Jesus died in vain. I am glad that someone actually gave an honest review about Rihanna’s lack of singing ability. I blame her label for lying to her and making her believe she could sing.

  340. #YeahISaidIt November 17, 2010

@margeret you’re very very delusional. What? You crazy gaurl. Can’t believe you have the nerve to write that. Beyonce wedding ring>>>>>>Rihannas existence from now till eternity

  341. tia November 17, 2010

I honestly dont even know why you took the time to review this album …..especially since you hate her, of course your not going to like any of it. Heres my review…AS A BEYONCE STAN

S&M is good, but its not my fave
What’s my name: one of the few really urban tracks on the album, i love this song
Cheers: Is f***** addictive, she rode the beat SURPRISINGLY well on this song, its very catchy and is clearly a radio/club hit
Fading: Is boring as all hell….and a little annoying, I dont care for it but its not terrible
Only Girl: the whole reason i downloaded this album was Only girl…i feel like VOCALLY she came through….she still sucks live but there has been slight growth
California King Bed: This Ballad is probably the best one on the whole album and probably of Rihanna’s career. It does however remind me of “Big girls dont cry” in the beginning. The song makes her much more likable
Man Down: LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! The reggae feel of the lyrics is awesome and the production is flawless (imo). Man Down got many of play outta me. I prefer island girl Rihanna ANYDAY
Raining Men: Is quite boring…i dont know how you get two big names on the song and it comes out like that…..i dont are for it at all. Its not memorable nor is it catchy.
Complicated: The much more Pop song of the album (like only girl) is vocally good for rihanna. Love this song. The beat is very infectious much like Cheers beat
Skin: The second most Urban song on the album, something i’ve never really heard from Rihanna is a Grindy, sexual, R&B feel type song. I like it but she could have came harder on the hook.
Love the way you lie: I didnt want to hear it because im soooo annoyed with her continuing to play off of this Chris situation,…..so i havent listened.

Overall….and its hard for me to say this but……i give it a 4/5 stars. It has won me over. But when Beyonce Drops, im droppin Rihanna ass like a bad habit…HOLLA

  342. vvvalente November 19, 2010

  343. toyin November 19, 2010

Man Down is so on point. @zainn or wateva ur name is, breezy career is gone. He is trying all his best, but nothing. Smh*, and he is extremely talented. Poor thing. Back to RiRi, the album isn’t bad @ all. Fading is cute, Complicated is so on replay. I hope she doesn’t flop.

  344. MISSBLACK November 19, 2010

S*** BANGS! I AINT NEVA SEE SO MANY HATE, ESPECIALLY BLACK PEOPLE! F U GRAPE JUICE. YALL AINT ON S***!

  345. Seriously? November 19, 2010

Whoever does the Rihanna posting for That Grape Juice should just stop posting things about Rihanna because they just have an automatic beef with Rihanna. Seriously what’s the issue I mean if you don’t like her don’t post things about her because you’re saying negative things about her for no reason at all. You would just be better off posting a hate blog just like all the other haters. You’re obviously not doing this for her benefit so just stop TGJ. But I have to admit I am always interested in what all you Rihanna haters have to say about her. This website should only be for the people to decide how they feel not what you’re telling them to feel. Now I’m not going to say you’re completely wrong because you’re not, I’m a Rihanna fan but and even I can tell there’s no growth on this album but that doesn’t mean you can put her on blast for it, you can’t discriminate. If you’re going to put her on blast you need to put everybody on blast including Chris Brown we all know he hasn’t grown from anything and he’s dumb. Rihanna is a Pop Artist and Pop Music is the most appreciated genre of music why, because it’s great to dance to, it’s catchy, it also doesn’t really mean anything. But the greatest thing about Pop Music are Pop Icons including Madonna, Whitney, and Britney. Basically what I am saying is the people behind TGJ may not like Rihanna that much but you can’t deny that Rihanna is well on her way to becoming a Huge Pop Icon. And you all forget Rihanna is 22 she is still very young and she was 17 when she first started she still has a lot more living and growing to do. Now you tell me in ten years when Rihanna is a WOMAN who has experienced life that she has not grown. Now if you don’t like her (which you obviously don’t) don’t post s*** about her. Oh wait but you have to because you know Rihanna is a star and you know people love hearing about her good or negative. So keep hating haters of That Grape Juice. I love reading your Hating Ass Posts. Keep up the good work!

I totally disagree. Rihanna hasnt grown much as an artist on this album, but to say her voice is limited and her voice cant belt out on songs is complete BS.This album is catchy and entertaining, and that is we’ve come to expect from Rihanna #GrapeJuiceSucks

I definitely disagree with this review.
I believe Rihanna skilfully delivers very meaningful and strong lyrical performances.
Rihanna’s album Loud was not just “attached herself to the latest trends in pop music” but has bought an album that reflects the fun and cheery mood that her life has evolved into. This is also evident in Rated R. This reflected a somewhat angry, livid Rihanna and that was because of what was happening in her life, you could say Loud is the recovery album. Loud also bought back some almost-forgotten Bajan roots and in songs like “Man Down” and “Raining Men” Rihanna nails every lyric, every note and every sound that the song threw at her with the help of Nicki Minaj. “Cheers (Drink To That) is a fun, bar song which shouldn’t be analysed much, besides, drunks don’t really think straight. “Fading” and “California King Bed” are beautiful, showing a more vulnerable Rihanna and this is a nice change, if anything, I think “California King Bed” was a bit of an outsider song, even though it has amazing metaphorical lyrics. “S&M” and “Skin” show a s***, sensual side of Rihanna even though the songs are entirely different with “S&M” being a faster, more-upbeat song and “Skin” being slower but just as intimate. Both these songs seem comfortable for Rihanna and this shows through the blissfully delighting way the songs are sung. “Only Girl (In The World)” is a very boppy and catchy song that could be listened to hours on end and “What’s My Name” is just as immersive and is possibly the best song on the album along with “Cheers” and “Man Down.” Now, track 11 is an unnecessary but passionate follow-up to the Number 1. smash, Love The Way You Lie, hence called “Love The Way You Lie (Part II)” This song is brilliant and shows the woman’s perspective on the abusive relationship. Overall, Rihanna’s LP “Loud” is not just a bunch of autotuned crap slapped together on a disk, but an expression of the mood she’s in and boy does that mood devise great songs. Rihanna is not another pop puppet but an individual, liberated artist who thought it was time for change. Loud is an excellent portrayal of her vibrance and happiness and all eleven songs are worthy to be sung by such a great artist. Final Score: Rihanna’s Loud gets a massive 11/10, never before given to any album of review.

Completely agree with this review, as good as Rhianna is an entertainer/Model, an “Artist” she most certainly is not, like the majority of Popular music now-a-days. A very disappointing state of affairs, music is no longer anything to do with the meaning of the word and is simply Business. first review i’ve read on this site and it is refreshing to see something with sense, will definitely be visiting regularly.
    Thankyou

This website does nothing but slander poor Rihanna. It’s dispicable, vulgar and downright rude. To have such a prejudice towards Rihanna without giving her a chance is unfair and wrong. I think Rihanna’s Loud album was great, absolutely fantastic but this website just cuts into her like she’s some kind of animal. Having an opinion on someone before they’ve had a chance to prove you wrong or change it is feral. This website sickens me, I will never visit again unless you give all artists equal chances, especially that fiery Bajan Rihanna. UNFAIR TREATMENT, MORONIC PERCEPTIONS AND UTTER IGNORANCE is all it is.

WOW, Kyle and Susannah, you practically read my mind!

Wow TGJ! You guys have soared to new heights. I know you hate Rihanna but gosh, you don’t have to be so bias. You guys may have a beautiful background but as they say, you can put the lipstick on a p**, but it’s still a p**. Worst website ever. Disgusting.

For anyone who listened to loud and their intelligence weren’t insulted, you should hang your head down in shame. This is what’s wrong with the record industry, a manufactured artist with no lyrical content, no talent and no stage prescence. Anyone who rightly states that Rihanna can’t sing and her album has no growth or depth is not being a “hater”. This is another disposable piece of pop nonsense full of filler. Rihanna can only sing in the studio when the engineers can fix her voice, listen to her live and it’s a different story. Rihanna, Katy Perry and Kesha prove that “anyone can sing” with auto-tune. Stop defending her because she is pretty. Only Girl…she’s yeling the chorus. The lyrics are moronic, all of her lyrics are moronic, but again, she doesn’t write the lyrics, the melodies, not one note. She had 27 producers on the last album and the best they came up with is, “oh nah nah, what’s my name.”

If anyone complains about the death of the music and can defend this nonsense, please look in the mirror. You have helped destroy music by supporting this fluff.

When the smoke clears and the wreckage of this plane crash are revised, the main weakness of ‘Loud’ is that it is not a cohesive body of work.
