Former Destiny’s Child member LaTavia appeared on Bravo’s ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ recently. The struggling artist spoke in detail about how she was ousted from the top-selling group and the problems with alcohol that she developed as a result. Look below for all the action:
“You don’t do enough in this group to even have an opinion…” I wonder which of the girls in the band said that? Seeing as both she and LeToya were left at the same time then it has to be either Kelly Rowland or the obvious suspect, Beyonce.
There has been serious debate during the last decade regarding the real reason for LaTavia and Letoya’s departure from Destiny’s Child. While the Knowles’ camp has maintained the two left on their own accord, I am more inclined to believe that they were fired for challenging the ‘Beyonce is the star and you’re just here for emotional support’ status quo. Indeed, we all know that Destiny only had one child.
Still, it has been over a decade since the group split and reformed (twice) so it’s good to see LaTavia finally getting focused on rebuilding her career. If LeToya can have a comeback then so can she.

see every time I see stuff like this I start hating Beyonce again. I already know this old news, but I loved the throwback Destiny’s Child. I’m just glad that LaToya went solo. Both of her albums were so good. As far as Kelendria, I’m glad she finally got Bey’s clit out of her mouth and started worrying about herself because the Knowles sure don’t care. I will always support Letoya because no matter the fact she had a helluvan attitude at that time, she was beautiful, tall and sexy just like Bey and Kel, which was for me and my girl friends the plain definition of a DESTINY’S CHILD !!! In a girl band or any band for that matter, someone stands out because the have “Star” quality and they have that extra “something” that little blessing. Then when that person becomes successful, everyone else is bawling and crying about this, that and the other. Even in everyday life, the first job you work at is not the one you will have in years to come, you have to plan for tomorrow and move forward.
Also, no one can make you drink or cause you to drink. YOU DRINK BECAUSE YOU WANT TO DRINK. Stop the nonsense. Beyonce is on top of her game thru drive, talent and a love for her craft. Some people can sing, but they don’t love the craft, they are not willing to sacrifice but want all of the rewards. Look at that guy who was on Intervention a year or so from that group. Drunk like a skunk blaming his problems on everyone but not looking in the mirror and taking reponsibility for their actions.
I can tell you one thing, women stumble but they never fall unless they want to. Stop the nonsense and go look for your own blessings. They are out there, but if you are looking at the blessings of others, you will never see that God may have something better and greater for You.

I do feel sorry for LaTavia in the way she was outed from the group BUT i mean if she needs to be inspired then all she has to do is look @ LeToya who used her money wisely and invested in property, a boutique and then back into music.
Anjel unfortunately didn’t work out for Tavia & LeToya but LeToya has a Billboard Hot 100 #1 debut Album & two R&B #1 Albums and a developing an acting carrer.
With Latavia I dont really see her tone making her a solo singer BUT with right production who knows. She could do other forms of entertainment and apply herself and use her money productively.
No Group goes through a perfect carrer with no issues so commets and arguments will happen, it’s just how u deal with it & ultimately Matthew was the one who distroyed the group format all those years ago.

I guess I will make one of the only replies to actually make sense. Phaedra Parks not only is a lawyer but a creative consultant behind many reality programs, she was the force behind “Tiny & Toya”, so if she wants to make something out of Latavia, I’m pretty sure that she can.
Latavia did NOT come in and immediately begin to tell her story about the DC days, Phaedra ASKED her. That is an experience that NONE of us have had and NONE of us know what really went down, we can only guess. However, I believe that no matter what anyone says, it was a scar that will forever truly be unhealed as deceit in any form is just that.
For Latavia to be a co-founder and be told her opinion doesn’t matter when she was there from the first day is pretty foul and I can understand the hurt. It’s like being told you are not the father of your child (no-pun intended) that you have raised only to see someone else walk in and take your hard work and dedication from you.
I am not LeToya, Latavia, Beyonce, or Kelly, so I will never know what truly went down, and neither will any of you. Beyonce’s spoken on it, Kelly has spoken on it, LeToya’s spoken on it, so why shun out someone who deserves to have their voice heard?
Everyone should let their fandom for individual members be cast aside to put themselves in other shoes for just a moment.

No one can force you into a depression or a drinking problem unless you let them. She gave into her situation so she is to blame. I’m not saying that outside factors didn’t contribute but ultimately we are all responsible for our OWN actions.
I’m a big fan of DC, Bey, Kelly, Michelle, and Letoya, but this interview was set up to make individuals appear to be the worst., they aren’t good actors to make it appear otherwise. The interview was constructed for publicity for Latavia and that sorry Lawyer or whatever the heck she is and I hate when people play woe is me. If they said you didn’t do enough to have a say then show them you are a force to be reckoned with. Letoya did not achieve her individual success talking about DC she sang and proved why she demanded our attention.
I was hoping that one day all of DC, minus Farrah because she has a sour attitude too, would reunite and perform but that minus has increased by one person, Latavia. I wish her the best but she rubbed me the wrong way.

I can’t believe so many people are bashing Latavia just because Beyonce is such a big star. This is why I don’t believe in girl groups or support them anymore! Someone is always getting more shine than the others! A good example is Nicole Scherzinger from PCD! It’s funny how she went on to do a solo album and flopped so hard! Damn, none of her singles even reached the Billboard 100! And her album never came out. Her new single is sh** and isn’t going anywhere! Latavia was talking to Phedra about the situation because Phedra is trying to help her get back on her feet and how can you expect to help someone when you don’t know about their past or what they’ve been through? The cameras were just there because Phedra is on a popular TV show you dumba**es! Y’all acting like Latavia did an interview about this situation.
I do agree that people in those situations need to be more motivated, determined, and independent, but sometimes that just doesn’t work out. Christina Milian tried to have a singing career and even became a publicity wh**e to get her name out there but it never worked. Yea we knew her as a pretty face but wasn’t nobody ever checking for her music or movies. It’s the same with the girls from 3LW and Teairra Mari. They try and try but never get anywhere and never meet the right people to set their career off. If Beyonce’s dad and mom weren’t so pushy and desperate for getting their baby girl famous, do y’all really think that Beyonce would be the star she is now? Beyonce would be nothing without all the marketing, publicity, and endorsements. Look at Letoya. She got fired and she picked herself up and produced 2 hit albums and now is making her own money.
Now look at Latavia. She got fired. Had a drinking problem. 10 years later, still blaming the same people for her downfall. She is earning money by royalties of the first two albums!
See the difference? Letoya works hard for her money. Latavia sits around and groan and moan. And you call Beyonce fake and mean? That is invalid.
Everyone can be fake and mean at certain points of the time, but that doesn’t mean they are! And even if they are, what difference does it make? Just because your mother called you names doesn’t mean you go drinking and rot to death. No, you work harder and prove her wrong.
That’s what Letoya did. Not Latavia.
You can pretty much say, I’ll support Letoya cos she did what she loved and had to do – make music. I can’t and won’t support Latavia because she hasn’t done ANYTHING for the past 10 years.
And look, she was a duo with Letoya, then in a group with some other chicks. And it still hasn’t worked out. So really, who’s the REAL problem here?
