Keri Hilson wants to work with Lauryn Hill. The singer revealed her intentions during an interview with Contact Music where she noted how much she admires the Hip-Hop icon’s candidness. Look below for Hilson’s statements:
“Lauryn Hill is someone who is very candid with her music… I have no intent to create some character for the sake of entertainment, I mean, I respect those who do, there are different avenues for entertainment but I loved her candidness, her candor, she’s just up there. She exposes all sides of herself, her vulnerabilities, insecurities but you also see the strength and her innocence.
Even her business savvy she talks about in her records, I just appreciate seeing a woman in true form and that’s what I try to do with my music as well, so I figure it would be an awesome collaboration”. {Source}
If Hilson aims to work with Hill on a record on a record similar to ‘Breaking Point’ then that would be an interesting duet. However, we all know that Hill would have nothing to do with the camera-humping extravaganza that was ‘The Way Your Love Me’.

In case you’re accusing me of generational bias, let me say that I don’t judge music based on the era it came out of. I listen to modern music, too. I also do know that there was also crappy music in previous decades. But the fact is, a lot of today’s music is incredibly sub-par. Yes, there are some exceptions, but I’m not overwhelmingly impressed by a lot of mainstream music as of late.
And I although I may state my dislike of certain genres (like country), I have never said it is “s***”. I respect all genres of music, even if I don’t like them because I know that they have their place. As someone who is a hip-hop fan, I encounter too many people needlessly bashing it, so I would know better than to do that myself.
I just don’t see Lauryn collaborating with anyone, unless she’s in the Fugees. Nice try though, Keri.
