Mariah Carey wasn’t the only singer scaling through the octaves during last week’s ‘Christmas in Washington’. Maxwell also performed during the event, delivering stunning renditions of ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ and ‘Silent Night’. Check out his showing below:
Is there anything that Maxwell can’t sing? He is one of the few male vocalists who understands the importance of developing all the parts of their vocal ranges, enabling them to be versatile enough to adapt to almost any arrangement. Incredible.

Maxwell is more a crooner to me. His vocal ability can span from his girly falsetto to a earthy tenor. I can’t imagine him singing a club joint or even a mid-tempo song. That is all.

Maxwell does plenty of mid-tempo songs however, he uses very little computerized instruments in his music. He prefers Live instruments.
If you want crooning… watch Columbus Short in “Cadillac Records”. That is all.

Maxwell makes wannabe fools like Justin Timberfake, and Robin Thicke look like ants.
Speaking of Maxwell, I am currently bumpin his jam “Sumthin Sumthin” from the Love Jones soundtrack. Great song.
Max is like Marvin Gaye, R. Kelly and Keith Sweat. He makes that great baby make music. Gotta love it.

Being able to do a “club joint” does not really indicate musical or vocal versatility. I mean, how many talentless artists (who shall remain nameless so as not to kick off a stan war, but you know who I’m talking about) do club bangers like it’s their bread and butter but still can’t sing for shit?
Oh, and great performance, btw. His voice is pleasant to my ears.

In all honesty, I don’t feel this performance was great. It was too much falsetto. I’m sure he can sing, but I started to become bored and needed some sort of climax.
“Have Yourself..” was falsetto all the way through and was boring. The end of “Silent Night” was better, that’s the type of climax I’m talking about. I needed MUCH more of it though.
He is, however, a stronger singer than a lot of the popular male R&B singers out now. I need to see R. Kelly sanging some of these Christmas songs. He will set the standard. His recent performances have been great.

I agree with Rob…the falsetto was a bit weak, but his rendition is 5000% better than was Usher, Trey Songz, The-Dream, Lloyd, John Legend, Jeremih and Omarion can do combined.

I don’t approve of her using reverb, because she doesn’t need it. But, she uses it for arrangement purposes, not to sound more dynamic because reverb cannot mimic true vocal resonance.

I definitely agree that Joe, and Tyrese are underrated vocalist. According to Tryrese’ brother, he doesn’t even have a record label at this point.
What do you think of Ginuwine? I got on Gin after hearing Pony years ago, and he definitely has some kick ass songs in his catalog.
Amy Lee is a great artist. It would be nice to get a solo album from her. I know she thought about working on one, but didn’t follow through.

I REALLY dislike Ginuwine’s voice, but I do like alot of his music; his music back in the day, in particular. But Tyrese should definitely get back to the music because he’s done enough acting to hold him off for a few years.
And it’ll be cool if Amy did a solo album, but the fact that she was the only singer in the band kinda makes it seem like she was doing her own album anyway, LOL! I’m just anxious to hear some new music from her, even with the band.

Amazing!!! Wow performances of that night were pure joy. Mariah and Maxwell were fabulous. I´m with the person who said the reverb on Beyonce´s performances are annoying as hell. I don´t know why she uses it but it sounds like crap
