Spears’ New Single Given Premiere Date

Published: Thursday 30th Dec 2010 by Sam

Pop megastar Britney Spears is set to return to the airwaves in a matter of weeks with new single ‘Hold It Against Me’. Produced by Dr Luke, the single serves as the first offering from Spears’ as yet untitled follow-up to 2008’s Platinum ‘Circus’ LP – which is due in March.

Find out when you can expect to hear one of 2011’s most anticipated releases after the jump…

According to Entertainment Weekly, ‘Hold It Against Me’ will impact radio globally on January 7th. You ready?

————————-

Randomness: A broken record I may sound like, but I will keep emphasising the fact that I need to see Ms. Spears deliver not only with the material, yet also with her live performances. Hardship or otherwise, the industry is cut-throat; hence she shouldn’t be excused for walking up and down the stage in a daze – just because. As an appreciator of music and stage-show, yours truly sees it as a slap in the face to all of the artists busting their behinds to put on  genuinely entertaining spectacles. I mean that ‘Circus Tour’ was daylight robbery. Fans parting with 3 figure sums to see Britney drag herself sluggishly across the stage while lip-syncing each and every song. No bueno.

Put simply; bring your ‘A’ game Ms. Spears or stay at home. Harsh? Perhaps. True? You already know.

Your thoughts?

    Sam she is Britney Spears…most of her fans don’t care… it’s the same with a lot of these other artists..as long as there is a good beat, hook and glossy finish, most people will buy into it. Although it doesn’t work every time i.e. album sales. I feel that with Britney, most people are still willing her to “comeback” if you will, and get to her glory days, hence why her disastrous performances are swept under the carpet by her fans. Like it or not, people are always gonna root for Brit!

  18. chi09 December 30, 2010

    what has she done to make her a legend?

  24. xxx December 30, 2010

    f*** you – she could be sitting in a chair, watching the audience dance, while a backing track gives them her new track – and people would love it!

  25. C.M.L. December 30, 2010

    I actually agree with Sam. As a longtime Britney fan I must admit that she needs to put on the level of performances we all know she’s capable of. I don’t expect her to be the Britney from the early 2000’s but I do expect and definitely should get my money’s worth when I spend my money to see her put on what should be an amazing show through and through, not just here and there.

    So what if she’s “Britney, b****”? Does that make her exempt from giving her fans her absolute best when she’s on stage even if she doesn’t really feel like doing so? Madonna and Cher are both well over 50 years old yet when they put on their show they are busting their asses just like they did when they were Britney’s age or even younger. So all this talk about Britney being who she is or even a legend is pretty damn weak because you can’t back up those statements with current performances that exhibit how truly talented she is.

    The excuses some of her other fans have been making are growing old. They blame her sluggish dancing on her high heel shoes, her knee, the stage design, even the choreographers. Some have gone as far to say that the Circus tour was a warm up. Who goes on a world tour to warm up for something they’ll do 2 years later? No one. IMO, she’s half assing her performances because she’s either not feeling “it” anymore or she’s just going through the motions out of contractual obligations. If either is really the case then by all means she should take an indefinite hiatus from showbiz until she feels ready to do her job to the fullest.

    Having said all that, I still look forward to hearing her new songs. If she truly gives 100% in the music and onstage I know she’ll achieve (and deserve) praise from all of her fans. I’m still cheering her on despite how I feel about the quality of last era. And please don’t question and or doubt me as a Britney fan because I didn’t say something positive about her. I’m giving my honest opinion and if some of you don’t agree with me that’s all right.

  26. Royalkev December 30, 2010

    @ June bug , your as delirious as my stalker. Britney has certainly coasted for the last several years. I actually agree Sam. He’s justified in saying what he did because it’s the honest truth. I haven’t heard Britney sing live in YEARS! I think the last time I did it was during her very first era. Retire Jantatic Jackson – laughable… Britney has immitated her style and avoided referencing her as her inspiration throughout most of her career! Beyonce doesn’t remind you of Britney at all and I think most people that enjoy seeing talent would find that insulting. There’s nothing Britney about Beyonce! I’m not putting Britney down, I actually like some of Britney’s music(Blackout was hot)! I’d love to see her lay Gaga to rest… but, I’m not going to be in denail about her talent!

  28. Sweet Dreams December 30, 2010

    GTFOH Britney stans are the most delusional group of stans I’ve ever seen. B. Spears is past her prime, can’t sing or dance, yet they swear she’s the best thing since sliced bread. Meanwhile, she takes their money and in return gives them a lousy show just because she’s BRITNEY. Get outta here with that. If this was anybody else, their career would have been over, or people would be begging said artist to retire/sit down. Beyonce, Gaga, Rihanna, etc. actually work hard for their success. I wouldn’t be proud to stan for someone who only gives their fans half an effort. And Beyonce and Gaga are def. not worried. They will continue to be successful like they always have when Britney comes out.

  29. lola December 30, 2010

    Many of these comments are just sad! People know damn well Britney Spears is extremely untalented and a gimmick but like the fact that she entertains! She is a wackass performer who cannot dance! All she can do is move her arms and legs, grind on women and gay men, and dry hump the floor. She’s very tasteless and pathetic. But no one cares because as long as she has a hot ass song and can “entertain” they will still support her. She should be done and over with just like her damn rival Christina Aguilera! I seriously can’t believe people aren’t over her or fed up with her. I thought her f****** career was over after only selling 3.5 million copies of her album worldwide when she used to sell 20 million?

  30. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ December 30, 2010

    Britney is NOT a legend and will NEVER be a legend nor an icon.

    I like Britney, but she is near talentless nowadays. She is the true definition of a puppet, maybe not as much back then, but now she is for damn sure. But like I said I like Britney, and I hope she does well, but her stans are really stupid.

    Anyways, so far I’m not that excited about this new single, because Dr. Luke is producing it, and I’m sure this will be no different than his recent productions, i.e. Ke$ha, Katy Perry, and other electro-trash. I was hoping she would team back up with Danja because that “Blackout” album was the BIZNESS!

  37. Kim December 30, 2010

    I have to agree with Sam and some of the other comments. Shes not a legend, I used to really like her but her recent music and performances have been awful. All her music sounds the same, and her performances are nowhere near worth how much she charged from her last tour. I went to her last tour and she did not even sing one song live even the ballad was lip synced, sorry but there is no excuse for her not singing live, she wasnt dancing she was basically flapping her arms around, and walking around the stage, yes I know she hasnt got the best voice but so have other pop stars like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, and Lady Gaga and they all sing live. Madonna who is 50 dances much more than her in her tours and can sing live. I dont think Britney is into performing anymore, shes a different person now, she doesnt look happy in her life and is just like a zombie. Seems like she is being forced to carry on doing this by her team, everything she does is controlled and watched by her team and I doubt she has a say in anything, she not even allowed to do any interviews. Some of you fans are really delusional yes she might be selling out tours, selling loads of albums, and getting number ones but look at her life.

  38. Miss Chick Boom December 30, 2010

    Forget Sasha Fierce, Britney is the female version of hustla. While Beyonce kills herself every night doing pointless things like singing live, dancing, interacting with the crowd, and knowing what month it is, Britney makes about 2 milli a night and all she has to do is walk in a circle, lip synch, and dry hump gay dancers for an hour. I lip synch Britney Spears songs and dry hump gay dancers in my apartment every Friday night and I don’t make a damn nickel. Ladies and gentleman that’s a diva.

    As for actual album and single sales, I’m not sure what you’re supposed to say about a person who sells more perfume than albums. I don’t want to use the “F” word, but if Beyonce’s album performed like “Circus” is doing, people wouldn’t hesitate to call it a F_____ (rhymes with “mop”).

    *Waits For Britney Stans to attack me with Sound scan Numbers From 1999 and not so innovative nor great performances from the early 2000s. Waits for them to attack Beyonce about so called swagger jacking Britney Spears. Waits for them to defend the the fact that Britney actually is talented*

Madonna is 50+ and still can put on a show like no other. What’s Britney’s excuse? Oh, I forgot, Britney can just stand there and breathe on a track, and her stans will swear it’s the most groundbreaking sh*t they’ve ever seen and heard. Delusion at its finest.

    Gaga and Rihanna have much more to prove to get to where the Trinity are at the moment and Katy Perry and Kesha are gimmicks.

    I wouldn’t consider her a complete legend but it’s obvious that she’s going to go down in history as a legend. All she has to do is continue her success but there’s no doubt that she’s going to be remembered as a legend.

    Does that make sense? It’s almost as if Britney is a legend but people just don’t know it yet.

    I agree with the post that she has to step it up. But at this point it is obvious she is just making music for her fans and to continue her check. Something happened when she was filming a video from a single on the In The Zone album. Ever since then she has been “afraid” to take serious dance routines.

    I also agree that the lip synching is played out when her peers have copied Beyonce’s way of singing live….ie….sing over pre-recorded vocals which allows you to sound better live and dance more while “appearing” to sing live.

    Britney has a strong fan base and is flexible in wanting to work with lots of different producers for the best songs so I’m sure her album will be good. I just don’t think she is ready to take on harder dance routines or sing live. She also smokes so that has to have changed her breathing techniques when she tries to sing live.

    Anyways, Britney’s artistry is pretty much the same as Katy’s and as Kesha’s but when it comes to legendary status you have to have the artistry AND the success. Britney has set trends so there’s somewhat of an artistry but her overall success is jaw-dropping.

    Maybe Britney IS a gimmick, but so was/is Madonna. To be honest, most artists are gimmicks.

    By calling Katy and Kesha gimmicks, I basically meant that they could never reach legendary status because they don’t have artistry and their success is moderate but not large enough to compensate for their lack of artistry.

    @Miss Chick Boom:

    Actually Katy was a good singer before she got big. Go on Youtube and watch old performances of her circa 2006-07. Even in 08 she still sounded good, but for some reason it’s been downhill ever since.

    @RF:

    I get your point in regards to commercial success. The two Ks lack that. But in the artistry department Britney is not all that either, IMO. Fun, catchy songs, but nothing truly groundbreaking or innovative, and little to no talent to back it up. Which is what makes her level of success all the more jaw-dropping, as you point out.

    And I am typing this from my phone, hence why the butterfly in my name is not present. But when I’m on a computer, it is there.

  85. True Blue December 30, 2010

    @The Kiddz:

    My bad! Hey, at least great minds think alike. 😉

  86. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    @TrueBlue
    That’s exactly what I was thinking and I suppose trying to say. Kesha and Katy Perry could be considered legendary in some retrospect I suppose if they actually were able to achieve mega success. What’s so amazing to me about Britney is that she’s been able to achieve so much success with really nothing too interesting.

    But Britney has pushed the envelope with her IMAGE and I think that’s why she’s considered to be legendary in some ways.

  87. dboy December 30, 2010

    @rihannaforever

    me neither. am actually curious to see their ipods, i have beyonce, rihanna, britney, gaga, christina , pink etc on my ipod. though am not an equal fan of all(and i have my sentiments). i won’t be wishing mishap on any of their careers

  88. the kiddz December 30, 2010

    @RihannaForever

    Britney in her prime was a PERFORMER. Even though she’s not thought of as a vocalist, the chick can dance and she makes great Pop music, IMO. Now, it seems like she’s just not into it anymore. So, we’ll see how this era goes.

    But what I really want to know: http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ld915fjAeE1qf3xzvo1_400.gif

  89. KYLE December 30, 2010

    @TRUE BLUE U KEEP SAYING BRITNEY HAS NO TALENT, SHE HAS TALENT!!! U DONT GET TO HER LEVEL OF SUCCESS WITHOUT HAVING TALENT. ALSO, HER SONGS ARE VERY INNOVATIVE!! MORE SO THAN BEYONCES…LOOK AT BRITS LAST ALBUM, UNUSUAL YOU AND MANNEQUIN ARE SOUN NOT DS THAT ARE DEFINATELY NOT BEING HEARD RIGHT NOW. I ALSO READS THAT “UNUSUAL YOU” WAS USED FOR PRODUCERS AS THE JUMPING OFF POINT FOR THIS ALBUM, WHICH IS A VERY GOOD THING. EXPECT BRITS NEW ALBUM TO HAVE A SOUND THAT ISNT BEING HEARD TODAY.

  90. the kiddz December 30, 2010

    @Kyle

    How are her songs more “innovative” than Beyonce’s? I’m not attacking, just curious.

  91. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    @DBoy
    Same! I have all of them on my iPod but I don’t wish for any of them to experience failures in their careers. I wish them the best. I just don’t understand why anyone could HATE an artist at all.

    Also, how’d you choose your name DBoy? I think I know…LOL.

    @TheKiddz
    Britney WAS a performer and that’s why the interest in her was so large, in my opinion. WIth Blackout, she wasn’t mentally stable (or whatever that era was) and with Circus it didn’t seem like that was the record she wanted to make.

    However, I think this album’s fate will be different because it seems like the fire in her eyes is back and she’s finally doing what she wants to.

    I love the image by the way. I always get so excited for Beyonce albums. It’s funny; I love Gaga but I’m not anticipating Born This Way at all. I’m about to die for the Beyonce and Britney albums, though.

  92. True Blue December 30, 2010

    @TheKiddz:

    LOL @ the Spongebob pic! I actually like being impatient for her. It will make her comeback all the more worthwhile.

  93. KYLE December 30, 2010

    @THE KIDDZ…READ THE REVIEWS FOR HER BLACKOUT ALBUM AND FOR HER SINLGES…CRITICS SAYING IT WAS AS AVANT GARDE AS POP GOT IN 2007…ON CIRCUS, SONGS LIKE MANNEQUIN SHE EXPERIMENTED WITH TRIP HOP MUSIC, THERE WERE LATIN POP DANCE HALL SONGS ON THAT ALBUM JUST DIFFERENT TYPES OF MUSIC MOST ARTISTS DONT EXPERIMENT WITH…IM NOT KNOCKING BEYONCES SONGS BECUASE I DO LIKE SOME OF THEM, JUST SAYING AS OF LATE BRITNEY EXPERIMENTS WITH DIFFERENT SOUNDS, GENRES OF MUSIC ETC MORE THEN BEY

  94. the kiddz December 30, 2010

    @RihannaForever

    Thank You! I feel the same way about Gaga, before she became “HUGE” I was a fan of hers, because her music reminded a lot of Britney’s. Just good old pop music. Now, it’s like she’s trying to be this sacrificial lamb for the gay community. And all she’s doing is reinforcing the stereotypes that follow the gays. Drugs, partying and s**. I think that’s why she’s trying so hard to get the message across that this new album is all about freedom and being who you are. Yawn..

  95. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    @TrueBlue and @TheKiddz
    I want Beyonce’s album right away but I can wait. As long as she takes her time to make it a great record because it felt like IASF was rushed for some reason.

    The Off the Wall inspiration makes me happy too.

  96. Prince December 30, 2010

    Im anticipating her come back. I miss Britney. Pop is incomplete without Britney. Britney hurry up with dat single!!!

  97. the kiddz December 30, 2010

    @Kyle

    I have all of Britney’s album, so I don’t need to read any reviews. Blackout is hands down my favorite album of hers. But, I don’t think her music is more experimental than Bee’s. Beyonce’s music derives mostly from old school funk and soul and her most recent album consists of a massive infusion of genres. Don’t forget that Britney has WAY more albums than Beyonce, but her sound is generally the same on each album. It wasn’t until she began working with the Neptunes that she began expanding her sound.

  98. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    @TheKiddz
    I agree! I heard “Just Dance” in February of 2008 and I loved the girl. She seemed like a more innovative and interesting version of Britney and I loved The Fame.

    I thought The Fame Monster was great too and all of her ventures in 2009 satisfied/excited me but it seems like all of this year she’s been promoting herself as a gay icon and I can’t help but think that it seems like it’s bringing more negativity than positivity to the gay community.

    I just hope Born This Way really is about personal freedom instead of what she sang about on The Fame/Monster.

  99. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    @MissChickBoom
    DEAD.

    @TheKiddz
    I LOVED Blackout. I have all of her albums, too but it feels like she never grows much as an artist whereas you can listen to Beyonce’s albums in order and hear the growth in her voice, artistry, etc.

    With Britney’s first three albums it felt like they were all the same and Circus was backtracking after Blackout for me.

  100. Traci Summers December 30, 2010

    BRITNEY IS A LEGEND BECUZ NO B**** IS BADDER THAN HER. WHAT S***,STUNNING,TALENTED BLONDE BISH. SWAGGED BRITNEY NOO B****. BRITNEY SHUT B****** DOWN WHEN SHE WAS ON THE SCENE. WHENEVER BRITNEY IS HERE PPL RUN AND HIDE JUST LIKE BEYONCE. NO SHADE TO KATY PERY BUT BRITNEY IS COMING FOR THAT WIG.

  102. True Blue December 30, 2010

    @TheKiddz:

    Much as it pains me to say this, I agree with you about Gaga’s image. I love her for her music and her talents, but her image is starting to eclipse her music, and that is a bad thing. And I do applaud her for being so vocal about gay rights, but sometimes she feels a little contrived. She could stand to tone it down a notch.

  103. dboy December 30, 2010

    @rihannaforever

    lol i’ll like to hear your theory, prob not too far from truth 😀

  104. KWON CAMPBELL December 30, 2010

  105. KYLE December 30, 2010

    @THE KIDDZ…LIKE MOST POEPLE I ALSO THINK BLACKOUT WAS HER BEST ALBUM YET…HOWEVER, SHE DIDNT TAKE A STEP BACK FOR CIRCUS WHAT THEY DID WAS TOOK SOME HER OLD SCHOOL POP SOUND WITH A MODERN TWIST(WOMANIZER, CIRCUS, IF U SEEK AMY) AND MIXED IT WITH HER URBAN SYNTH POP SOUND OF BLACKOUT(UNUSUAL YOU, KILL THE LIGHTS, MANNEQUIN) SO IT WAS A WIDE RANGE OF DIFFERENT SOUNDS BUT ULTIMATELY A VERY STRONG POP ALBUM AND ONE OF THE BEST OF 2008 FOR SURE.

    I DO HAVE A FEELINGT THIS ONE WILL BE HER BEST YET:)

  106. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

  107. the kiddz December 30, 2010

    Lol, sorry. I began noticing it when she began winning awards. She would go up there and say: “This is for the gays” or ” and I’m like Ughh…why is she doing that? She shouldn’t segregate her fans, ALL of them got you to where you are.

  108. Miss Chick Boom December 30, 2010

    @RihannaForever

    I agree. It actually took me about 2 months to like IASF as a whole.

    Although I like the album, I think a better album would’ve been:

    Single Ladies
    If I were a Boy
    Save The Hero
    Radio
    Forever to Bleed
    Roc
    Poison
    Scared of Lonely
    Disappear
    Hello
    Stop Sign
    That’s why Your Beautiful
    Why Don’t You Love Me
    Sweet Dreams
    Halo
    Control(Itunes Bonus)
    ______________________

    Singles Would’ve Been

    1)Single Ladies and If I were a Boy
    2)Halo and Sweet Dreams
    3)Hello
    4)Save The Hero
    5)Radio Remix(W/ Lady Gaga)

    I think it would be Epic if for Beyonce’s next album she did a whole song Acapella.

  109. True Blue December 30, 2010

    @RF:

    Wait, you heard Just Dance in January 2008? I heard it for the first time in July 2008, and that was only because I was abroad at the time. She wasn’t getting any airplay in the US until much later in the year.

  110. KWON CAMPBELL December 30, 2010

    @MISS CHICK BOOM… SHE BETTER NOT DO AN ACAPELLA SONG!! SHE MIGHT CAUSE THAT B**** BITES LIKE OLD CLIPPERS —->

  111. the kiddz December 30, 2010

    @True Blue

    I heard it in January, as well. Then I saw her perform it on Logo around May; I could have sworn she was a drag queen. LMAO! But, I loved it.

  112. True Blue December 30, 2010

    @TheKiddz:

    I know. Imagine if it were someone saying “this is for all my straight fans” or “this is for all my white fans”, all hell would break loose. I know Gaga doesn’t mean it the same way, but still.

    @MCB:

    Agree with that tracklisting. I like the songs from IASF as individual tracks more than I like the album itself.

  113. Miss Chick Boom December 30, 2010

    @Kwon Campbell

    That made no sense. Type in english.

  114. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    @MissChickBoom
    I completely agree! I did like “Broken Hearted Girl” and “Diva” though. I just didn’t like “Video Phone” much. However, “Sweet Dreams” was FLAWLESS. I still listen to that song all the time, 2 years after the album was released.

    I loved her acoustic ballads like “Disappear” though so I wish she had included more of those on the record. I also didn’t love the double disc idea and I wish she hadn’t named it I Am… Sasha Fierce but rather just I Am… without the Sasha Fierce part. Sasha Fierce was wack anyways. I think the I Am… title alone would’ve been good since the album was really introspective.

    I wish “Radio” had been a single! That song was so good and Gaga would’ve been amazing on it. I didn’t like “Video Phone” at all and it’s not the type of song Bey should do but it helped Gaga get urban fans.

    @TrueBlue
    Yes, I heard it in early 2008. I don’t remember how but I think I was on a blog or a website that covers artists that are up and coming and so that’s how I heard it and I loved her up until earlier this year.

    @TheKiddz
    Exactly! I loved Gaga up until September of 2009. She dedicated that award to the gays and since then it feels like she doesn’t acknowledge that she has heterosexual and bisexual fans. She could have even dedicated that award to the LGBT community. It was a really small-minded decision.

    Also, I thought it could’ve been something she said spur-of-the-moment but after that awards show in 2009 she said that she chose her words carefully for that.

  115. Drew December 30, 2010

    @MissChickBoom
    An acapella song would be amazing. “Disappear” and “Ave Maria” were close to acapella but sadly she added production to both.

    @TrueBlue
    Same. I loved all of the songs but they just weren’t cohesive as an album.

  116. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    @Drew
    You’re right, they weren’t.

  117. Miss Chick Boom December 30, 2010

    @Rihanna Forever

    I forgot about ‘Broken Hearted Girl’. That would’ve been included too. I liked ‘Diva’ too, I just feel that type of song is to young for Beyonce, if that makes any sense.

  118. True Blue December 30, 2010

    @Anthony The Great:

    I can’t watch the video because my phone doesn’t support Flash. But one thing I do notice… how come she only sounds good acoustic? WTF???

    @ TheKiddz:

    I thought she was Swedish when I first saw her.

    Believe it or not, but I actually prayed that she would blow up because I thought that she was so underrated and thought that she would never see mainstream success.

  119. Drew December 30, 2010

    LOL, but I have to hand it to Rihanna. I don’t love the girl but her albums always flow well.

  120. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    That’s actually true about Katy. And weird.

    I also did the same thing with Gaga, LOL. I thought she was amazing and deserved success but that it would never happen and now it’s like she has the world in the palm of her hand.

    I don’t know how Radio was never released as a single. When I first heard it, I thought for sure that it would end up as a single. I think it would’ve been as big as Single Ladies.

    Scared of Lonely (my favorite song on IASF) should have been a single too.

  125. LTM December 30, 2010

    katy perry songs good acoustically. as far as live performances go, sometimes shes good, then sometimes shes terrible. ive never seen her sing california gurls good. the best was at her london live concert that played on vh1

    any britney spears song will be a hit. she can release a track of her sneezing and it will be a hit, as long as its catchy and people can dance to it.
    britney spears does have talent, she can dance.

  127. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    @TheKiddz and @TrueBlue
    LOL, I know! That songs was AMAZING. They had to be singles.

    “Scared of Lonely” should have been a single; it was flawless. I also loved “Hello” but “Why Don’t You Love Me” was good too. I don’t understand the obsession that Beyonce and Katy Perry seem to have with Betty Paige as of late, though.

  128. jj December 30, 2010

    cmon britney is extremely talented woman! she already shown it since she was a kid!
    BUT now i admit she changed a lot but we all knw what happened to her this past few years, if only it didnt happened, if only she didnt met kevin federline she still will be the britney spears we all knw, we all love, the energetic goofy woman!

    I’ve been hooked on K and Jpop lately, LOL.

  150. TamED BEAST December 30, 2010

    I think Justin Beiber is gay. He is obsession with Beyonce is beyond the crush. Usually when a guy says he loves Beyonce that much or talks about her everytime he gets a chance he usually turns out to be gay. He doesn’t want Beyonce to be his girlfriend, he wants to be her.

  151. RihannaForever December 30, 2010

    I would like her to sing more at her concerts, but lets face it!!!! SHES BRITNEY EFFIN’ SPEARS!!!.. She can do as she pleases…… and her music is always kick-ass…. and no need to compare her to Beyonce, cuz speaking from a modern point of view Beyonce latest album out sold Spears latest work – thats just for the record,,,,, and ultimately, i think we all should just be happy that a megastar like is releasing music in 2011, I bet its gunna contribute significantly in overall ALBUM SALES.. At the end of the day shes one of those artist that brings in so much revenue, hence she is contributing to keeping the industry we know and love on its 2 feet.. C’Mon!!!>. if u dont like her, dont comment..

  169. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @TheKiddz
    Oh my God, same! Although I tweet da Prafet all the time. He’s actually a really kind and sweet guy but he comes across on his blog as a very pompous person. I’ve known Utada for the same amount of time too, LOL.

    @TrueBlue
    Exactly. I hate when the lead vocalist is screaming and every instrument possible is playing and the lyrics are as morbid as can be…it’s just…no.

  170. True Blue December 31, 2010

    @MCB:

    I love old school R&R as well. Led Zep, Queen, Black Sabbath, T.Rex, David Bowie, AC/DC, etc. I like 80s metal, but after that, don’t like it much either.

    @TheKiddz:

    Strangely enough, I’m trying to get into opera.

    @RF:

    Acceptable 30-40 years ago, but overkill in this day & age.

  171. the kiddz December 31, 2010

    @RihannaForever

    I hate the fact that his blog is turning into this one, with all the constant unnecessary shade. He’s turning into a sell out and I actually love his blog because of it’s diversity. And I don’t mind about the album releases. In the past, it was every other month, but that was because they were actually being bought.

  172. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @TrueBlue
    Totally agree with you. Nowadays, people promote albums to such an extent that it’s just odd and unnecessary today to be releasing albums every year…unless you need to (say one album flopped) or if you released one album in say, January. Then a release in the next year is understandable.

    By the way, I’ve tried for years to enjoy opera music and I seriously cannot.

  173. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @TheKiddz
    That’s actually very true about the album releases. As for his blog, that is true. I only stay on TGJ for the comments and the hilarious stan wards, LOL. But honestly; I really love the guy himself as a person but the blog is just becoming a mess, unfortunately.

    Seems only Toia is still avoiding the unneccessary shade but she only seems to have about 2 hits a day…

  174. True Blue December 31, 2010

    @RF:

    LOL, exactly. I like for my music to have melodies, not for it to be just noise. That’s why I can’t help but laugh at metalheads who are the biggest music snobs EVER. They hate anything that isn’t “br00tal”.

  175. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @TrueBlue
    I know right, LOL. If their isn’t a melody I just get lost, with the exception of rap music since rap doesn’t really require a melody half of the time (or at least it didn’t used to).

  176. True Blue December 31, 2010

    @RF:

    I can understand why opera is hard to get into, but if I can like Kate Bush and Bjork, I can like opera.

  177. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @TrueBlue
    LMAO, that’s actually really true. I love Bjork but opera’s impossible for me to enjoy for some reason.

    I’ve been going thru a phase lately though where I just adore artists like Florence + The Machine, Janelle Monae, and Adele.

    I also just rediscovered Dr. Dre; I love his music.

  178. True Blue December 31, 2010

    ^^^ Damn, you just named everyone I love!

  179. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    ^^LOL, I just love them right now. “Kush” is a song that I’m really hooked on right now and then of course Florence is just flawless. I also love how educated and fantastic Janelle is and then Adele seems to be making more waves than my old favs Duffy and Natasha Bedingfield.

  180. RatedXxX(aka ratedX) December 31, 2010

    I dont give a damn who who are, legend, icon…no way in hell I’m gonna pay to see ur a** walk back and forth on stage…

    common sence would tell me that, since britneys last tour sold over 200 million..i dont think people would be that damn dumb to see her walk back and forth on stage…

    yea after her meltdown, the broad live perfomances hasnt been the same…..NO S***..

    please God, dont let her song sound like kesha knockoff… the majority of all dr lukes songs sound the same

  181. True Blue December 31, 2010

    @RF:

    I don’t listen to much Dre, but I am OBSESSED with Florence right now, and I too adore Janelle’s intelligence as much as I love her talent & music. She comes off as brighter than Gaga, much as I love Gaga though.

    And Adele… I really, really hope that she becomes more popular. She, like Janelle and Flo, is a much-needed breath of fresh air for music. I like Duffy too, but I haven’t listened to her in a long time.

  182. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @TrueBlue
    I just got into Dre; I liked him years and years ago and now I’m starting to like him again. For me, Florence is just insanely creative so I hope that she’s more than a 1 hit wonder in the US.

    I love that those 3 are a complete breath of fresh air, like you said, and I’m really pulling for Janelle and Adele to earn more success that they deserve.

    As for Duffy, she’s kind of a one-hit wonder. Her newest album is horrible in my opinion and it feels like she gave up passion and artistry for hits but it didn’t work; same goes for Natasha who, believe it or not (LOL), I use to stan for. I almost stanned for Gaga; I semi-stanned for her but now I’m kind of a fan.

  183. gabs December 31, 2010

    Britney is a legend! Its hard for some people to remember but Britneys videos were so iconic back in the day and people went nuts. She was THE most famous person at the time during her reign. So excited to hear the new song! I hope its more like Blackout than Circus. I liked Circus but I agree that she regressed a bit with that. Idk why everyone is fighting about who is better. Im going to buy Britney, Beyonce, AND gagas new album and try to see them all live. It doesn’t have to be a war. I agree that gaga is starting to get on my nerves with her preachiness and the outfits are sort of outshining the music, but its been working for her so far so..oh we’ll see. I love my Britney and Beyonce but I really think Gaga is going to be the one to get the highest numbers and hits for 2011. Idk, but either way i’ll be glad to get a rest from Rihanna and Katy. No offense but im just needing a break from them right now.

  184. True Blue December 31, 2010

    @RF:

    I loved Natasha when she first came out. I heard These Words for the first time on the radio five years ago, and I was instantly hooked. I damn near stanned for her too. Unwritten still remains one of my favorite songs ever.

    Doesn’t she have a brother named Daniel, though? I think he had two hits. And I hear that Duffy’s new album sucks, but I’m gonna have to judge for myself.

  185. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @TrueBlue
    She and Daniel are a lot alike because they both experienced success for a while and then it diminshed. I loved Natasha but her latest record Strip Me wasn’t very good and was poorly handled/promoted.

    As for Duffy, I didn’t believe that Endlessly could be bad but it really was, at least to me.

  186. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @Gabs
    LOL I don’t think that Katy and Rihanna will slow down with their careers at ALL next year. Maybe Ke$ha will, but the other 2 won’t.

  187. True Blue December 31, 2010

    Katy should either go back to her roots musically or go host a talk show. Great personality, but her new music sucks.

    And Ke$ha could not disappear fast enough for me.

  188. RihannaForever December 31, 2010

    @TrueBlue
    It really does and I just don’t see her lasting long.

    I like Kesha but she’ll be gone soon. Very soon.

  189. RatedXxX(aka ratedX) December 31, 2010

    if youre suppose to be a worldwide superstar and u keep releasing an album every yr for 5 yrs..and some broad who people never heard managed to keep shitting on ur sales..
    twice

    umm I dont think ur gonna have an option whether or not ur need to take a break…

    ur gonna need to work to make all the money back, that ur label lost ..

    selling a** doesnt last forever….

  190. dang December 31, 2010

    I must say, she always delivers the same s**-pot /threesome/s**-party song theme so there isn’t much chance of a surprise. Yet every1 love her!

  191. RatedXxX(aka ratedX) December 31, 2010

    I do think Britney might sell more than Gaga…

    cause that broad got her fan base on lock…

    and since Britney doesnt need to release an album every yr to remain relevant,
    alot of people are looking foward o hear what the BAD BISH , bringin to the table..

  192. Anthony December 31, 2010

    interesting, cannot wait to see what she brings out and hopefully she has her dancing down this time round

  193. Tami December 31, 2010

    IM EXCITED LIKE S***!But y’all keep forgetting Lil WIllow’s album is coming out too.LOL she better teach these fakes b****** Ke$ha Katy Perry and all y’all favs what talent is in 2011!If Beyonce,Lady Gaga, and Britney are Queens of Pop or whatever.Willow gotta be the princess!

  194. Tami December 31, 2010

    I wonder who’s album will do the best!Gaga,Beyonce, or Britney!Is it just me?I see Gaga as flopping next year.IDk maybe cause she keeps HYPING THAT S*** UP!

  195. KYLE December 31, 2010

    BRITNEY WILL HAVE A HUGE OPENING WEEK, THEN THE SALES AFTER THAT DEPEND ON HOW MUCH PROMO SHE DOES THIS ERA….HOPEFULLY A LOT MORE THAN SHE DID FOR CIRCUS!!

  196. Nichole December 31, 2010

    I love Brit but I agree with Sam. Brit hasn’t been the same since leaving Federline, and she has been really slacking on stage. I really hope she brings it this time around because she really slacked off with the last two albums. Neither were promoted properly, and had they been, they could have been very successful. Also, I’m glad she teamed back up with Brian Friedman because they were a great team. All Brit need to learn how to perform again and she’ll be fine. Looking forward to the new single.

  197. L O L December 31, 2010

    SHE sucks, she sucked before, why does grapejuice post news about that chick. i ddnt know black people listened to britanny spears…i’ll never support that white trash. i aint bein racist cuz i respect true talents like gaga, but i aint never gonna spend my money on that b****…she cant sing, she cant dance, she cant write what can she do????

  198. Jasmine December 31, 2010

    Tami how is Willow Smith the new princess of pop. She only had one single and everyone knows Roc Nation is not going to pay for major promo. There is no princess of pop and if there would be one it would be an artist signed to a label that promotes their artists like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Keisha, etc. I’m not saying they are qualified but their labels guarantee them sales by spending high amounts to promote them.

  199. Robier December 31, 2010

    I AGREE. BRING OLD BRIT BACK

  200. MissImpartial January 1, 2011

    I hope this album is going to be like Blackout and I also hope that she will be working with Danja.

    Haters can say what they want she will sell Platinum CD’s and Outgross Tour wise all the other ones.

  201. MissImpartial January 1, 2011

    If she really cared and performed like the early 2000 she will be reigning again and show everyone who is the BOSS.

    SHE NEEDS TO DO MORE INTERVIEWS AND PROMOTE EVERY SONG.

    HATERS STAY MAD PEOPLE SAID SHE WAS NEVER GOING TO LAST NOW 100MIL RECORDS LATER STILL WAITING FOR HER DOWN FALL.

  202. mariann January 1, 2011

    i can’t ever remember being this excited for a single!!!!!!!!!!! i agree that britney hasn’t been given it her all in her performances. i hope she will bring it now because we all know that she will slay if she does. she’s an outstanding performer. shes allready proved it. but if she keeps going the circus route ill still support her! for ever and ever
