The X-Factor 2010 drew to a close moments ago, crowning a brand new winner. Find out who takes this year’s title after the jump …
{For those unfamiliar with The X Factor, the show is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. Now in it’s seventh season, the show is responsible for birthing the careers of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, and JLS. It’s US version is set to launch in 2011}.
After registering the lowest public vote of the remaining finalists, favourites One Direction finished third in the competition.
With Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson remaining, each took to the stage to perform their respective winning songs; Cardle singing a cover of Biffy Clyro’s ‘Many of Horror’, with Liverpudlian Ferguson following with a rendition of Duffy’s ‘Distant Dreamer’.
Following a tally of the last public vote, it was announced Matt had won the much sought after prize – a £1 million contract with SyCo/Sony Music.
The X Factor hits the US on FOX in 2011.
I can’t wait till X Factor comes to North America!!

steve brockstein, leon jackson and more recently shayne ward. joe is definity next and so is matt. after a new winner is crowned everyone will forget about matt and so the cycle will continu. simon cowell aint no clive davis, and xfactor winners never gain any credibility in the music industry and are snubed when it comes to winning any awards.
rebecca got a lucky escape, i hope she sees sense and signs with a credible record label, and chucks simon the deuces on her way out.

I wanted Rebecca to win. She has the voice, looks and is really humble. But at the same time I can see why Matt won as he is talented. It just that the male singers are never huge as the girls and I wanted a girl to win as last year winner was a boy.

Matt was a favourite to win since the beginning of the show. It has nothing to do with Rihanna as he was going to win anyway. As someone mentioned before he had the highest votes every week.
He would have won even if he sang with no talent Kesha.

Absolutely devastated rebecca did not win! she was gorgeous and had an amazing voice, i predict big things from whereas matt on the other hand, i can see him becoming easily forgettable, the same as his performances the last couple of weeks, very half hearted and boring! the wrong winner was chose the second time on a run for the x factor. pathetic, i am so disappointed.

There are some DAMN FOOLS on here bitching about Sam announcing the winner. EVERY SATURDAY within minutes of the performances airing SAM HAS POSTED the performances FROM WEEK 1.
If you’re so into watching the show, then you’d KNOW when it airs. Do like I do when I don’t want spoilers. DON’T COME ONTO THE INTERNET, STAY OFF FACEBOOK AND STAY OFF TWITTER. How hard is that to understand? No… instead you come straight to the UK based site announcing the winner of a UK show, which gets TALKED ABOUT EVERY F****** WEEK.
So you want the whole of the UK to keep quiet for a few of those who want to download it on torrents.

Rihanna did NOT help Matt win. The results were given on Xtra Factor and for every week except the first week he had the highest amount of votes. Mary had the highest in week one. Whoever was going to vote for Mat was going to vote for Matt whether he duetted with Rihanna or Miss Piggy. He was the bookies favourite from Week 1 through the end and consistently the viewers favourite throughout the entire competition.
