Keyshia – vocals on point , high notes perfect , and dressed beautifully

    Yolanda – kilt it

  2. TJ February 22, 2011

Trey Songz was simply TERRIBLE… That was the WORST vocal performance from a MALE singer in the past 10 years at least. WOW… It was PAINFUL to watch. WOW… that dude should have been ran off the stage for that s***** performance.

Trey, that performance was shameful. I’ve seen him in concert, and he did well. This is the total opposite.

  3. EdPonton February 22, 2011

    Yolanda Adams is blessed!

Keyshia was cool but i think shes had so many wack performances everybody is blah w/ her, she will foreveer be looked as a ghetto hoodrat with a attittude who only sounds good in the studio

    Yolanda – Beast

Marsha- Jazz is your thing. Those riffs and runs were so good. That high note could have been longer but it was Great nonetheless.

Keyshia- Beautiful performance, perfect key and arrangement. You sounded like a master of your voice. I’d like to see pulling off the things that Marsha just did but keep singing as well as you did here. Your voice sounded beautiful and as strong as we’ve known it to be.

Ne-yo- Good job. Voice was a bit week at the beginning.

    I can’t even watch Trey.

    I’m sure Tank was good.

  9. The Truth February 22, 2011

Keyshia-Thank God that Autotuner is on your mic cuz that voice still shaking

Marshia-Good but something wasn’t in sync with her and the band one was going faster than the other.

Tank and Guy-AWESOME great job for both!

Trey-sighhhhhhhh no comment and please leave Al Green’s song out of this he’s probably pissed off at BET lol

Yolanda Adams-Blessed and highly favored. Anointed voice! Perfect tribute for Cicely Tyson!

  10. Jamie February 22, 2011

Trey songz is pitiful. He and a certain redhead would mesh so well together.

  12. TheTruth February 22, 2011

Keyshia Cole looks beautiful & sounded amazing!!! One of her best performances to date! Great Job! I am so glad to see a beautiful woman GROW into a inspirational artist. Loved the performance, Keyshia. Keep up the great work! Ladies, take notes.

Yolanda Adams, her name says it all. She is one of the most powerful vocalist of today. Her voice is always on point.

Trey Songz, *LOGS OUT* not his best performance.

  13. Loveroney February 22, 2011

    Trey Songz……………………. really???? -_-

That had to be the WORST vocal performance of ANY male singer in a long ass time SMH!

  14. picture perfect February 22, 2011

Yes Yolanda Yes!!! Beautiful and moving…NE-YO No Ma’am!!!! Keyshia much better but still ok overall. Trey…Jesus Trey if looks didn’t count you and the RiRi would have no careers. Tank and guy ok and as much as I love Marsha and can sing better than about 90% of these artist the song was just not for her that’s a Teena Marie Classic so if you’re going to try it you gotta bring that a game..overall could B.E.T not get better stars? These we’re some tame performances besides Yolanda(Best) and Trey(worst)

I agree Trey Songz was terrible but maybe Steve Stoute can campaign for him to get a Grammy along with Justin Beiber.

Can’t sing a-Lick University’s Valedictorian —–Trey Songz. “Thank you very much class of 2011 on bestowing this honor on me , I will do my best to sing terribly at performances all over the country, I will sing great songs horribly and try to hit notes I know I can’t , again thank you for this honor”

  18. Chimier February 22, 2011

Trey was not…the arrogant goat lived up to his rep and bleated through the entire song. #FAIL

In order from best to worst:

Yolanda Adams- Always love her performances. Shes always on point
Guy-I miss New Jack Swing. DAMN them n***** still got it and know how to rock a crowd.
Marsha and Keysha-I couldn’t choose between the 2. One wasnt better than the other they
    both were equally good.
Neyo-He kinda f***** up Miss Jones but he did good with the 1st and 3rd song.
Tank-He wasn’t really singing the song and his performance was too short.
Trey Songz-He was actually singing OK. I put him dead last cause im tired of the extra s*** he
does(face expression, his hands etc). Just sing the damn song and stop being so
    damn dramatic

Sorry, but I’m just in a state of complete SHOCK.

I know it’s a well-known fact s** sells where talent is lacking, but seriously, I don’t think I’ve EVER and will EVER witness such a blatant example.

Whilst Rihanna is no Mariah, the girl can hold a basic note, whether you like the tone of her voice or not. She is listenable and her voice doesn’t crack all over the place.

Is this what we are allowing to become of our music industry? Jesus, PLEASE take the wheel.

  29. MISHKA February 22, 2011

    Trey Songz *smh*

This time around , I didn’t watch the performance and I just listened to the vocals, and they were worse than ever. Why is he even trying to do? just sing the mo’fo song, man. Didn’t he see Tank and Guy performances? Jeez.

He better concentrate on getting a #1 song on Billboard top 100 before loing his mojo. He said once on radio that artists like Wiz Khalifa don’t have exposure like him but are touring. Well, Trey, Wiz has a #1 now like Chris Brown, Ciara, Rihanna, Jason Derulo, Omarion , Bow Wow, Soulja Boy.

Get your own before it’s too late.

  30. Tr February 22, 2011

LOL @’Gurl no’!!! Yall comments about Trey is funny as hell!! I do agree there were portions that were inexpreeively terrible, however, I admire the gusto he gave the song, despite his limited range, and vocal skills….really thinkin’ he tearing s*** up, don’t he?!! LOL

  31. luvlife February 22, 2011

C’mon y’all. I know y’all hate him on this site, but he wasn’t THAT bad. Trey can sing is he stays within his range. I thought he did better than Tank. Tank sounded like he was struggling and trying to hard as well. Everyone in my house thought that too.

  32. STRAX February 22, 2011

I cannot believe that Trey and Tank are both signed to Atlantic.

There is only one reason, and one reason alone why Trey is being pushed/backed far more in a financial sense than Tank is, simply because of his marketing appeal… Fact

I do not dislike Trey at all, in fact I like a few songs on PPPa lot, however its clear as day his live vocals are absolutely atrocious!

I sing better the the shower, I mean, how the hell is this guy even close to Tank on a vocal level?? Listen to both videos (in either order) and its quite embarrassing, in terms of the gulf between these two artists are immense.

Based solely upon this, I cannot see how Trey will last in the industry unless labels will continue to put millions, upon millions of marketing dollars in to this guy with performances like that.

Some of the notes actually made me cringe… Its was almost laughable that this guy thinks he is even close to being a credible artist amongst established acts.

Not a s** symbol, a credible artist is highly respected by his peers and music listeners that can differentiate between pouting in a video, which does not mean s***, and only being able to put together a couple of notes in THE STUDIO and cannot sing it live.

Trey cannot sing live, seen too many live clips of his, he is a studio artist and should consider miming…

  33. luvlife February 22, 2011

The thing is (and I don’t mean to harp on this) that Trey sangs at concerts. My friends, who doesn’t even like him, was impressed when we went to his concert. I remember when Trey used to open for Ne-Yo, back in ’07, and EVERYONE thought Trey sang CIRCLES around Ne-Yo. It’s just on tv, Trey tends to scream and oversing all the time. I honestly don’t get it. He needs someone to work with. To really help him. Someone needs to get him together, b/c in the long run, this will hamper his career. And Tank did not sound good. He struggled, and he’s boring, and he’s not marketable.

  34. amy February 22, 2011

yolando i love u you are so blessed..talent talent talent..God bless you

  35. STRAX February 22, 2011

Listen to Marsha Ambrosius, she HAS TALENT! No marketing spin or her label her label pushing her down peoples throat like Trey is at present….

Her vocals sound so good, and quite effortless… Also she is ENGLISH!

Keyshia needs a new vocal coach, she has all the attributes and needs to get back to her previous levels.

Ne-Yo done well, think he showed trey how to sing in falsetto… Enough said!

  36. STRAX February 22, 2011

    @LUVLIFE

You do not really understand where I am coming from here…

I do not care about marketing, or an artist being marketable, its obvious Trey is just that.

Basing my judgement on what I hear is of the upmost importance, not what TV commercials and billboards I see to assess whether an artist is talented or not.

I’ve seen Trey live, its not impressive, also watched countless amount of footage and its not on a great level is it? Be honest…

Ne-Yo is a superb writer, nobody can deny that from his first album in particular.

Tank has superb power and range, in addition to him being able to write, produce, arrange and REALLY SING LIVE!

What is Trey’s undeniable talent? Before you answer, forget the music videos, billboard posters and adverts… At the end of the day, he is a music artist, therefore he needs to be judged on his ability to sing does he not?

Clearly we cannot judge him as a producer can we? He does not even really write either…

I am no love struck little teenage girl, I am a STRAIGHT, grown man, so therefore all that other BS is irrelevant to me. Videos and appeal are becoming more relevant and people are losing the idea of what this is and should be all about.

  37. dapope9 February 22, 2011

    I LOVE Marsha Ambrosius!!!

  38. luvlife February 22, 2011

    @Strax

I am not a little girl, honey. I’ve known about Trey since “04 and there was a time when NO ONE questioned his ability. I was not at all impressed by Tank’s performance, sorry. He struggled.

And yes, Trey can write. He’s co-written most of his songs. And he wrote a song for Aretha Franklin back in the day (which was used by Patti Labelle). Aretha in turn did the intro to his first album. Trey is a talented vocalist. I dig his voice. Always have (although it has changed over the years).
On tv, he just does too much, and sings outside of his natural range. He shakes and oversings, and ends up sounding bad. Frank Gatson says he wants to work with him and he should. Real recognize real. But Trey just needs to be natural and it will come.

  39. RosaRubbel February 23, 2011

Keyshia NAILED her performance! Her best live performance in ages. So now y’all believe me when I tell you she can sing!

  40. TEAMMINAJ February 23, 2011

    @Strax – cosign with everything!

  41. jmari February 23, 2011

Neyo to me was a little overshadowed by the band he was a little weak don’t know what that was about. keyshia is becoming more comfortable on stage. it was good to see that Guy still has it i loved it. Now trey Baby, i just thinks he gets nervous for some reason but he as a veteran in this game should know better so i really can’t give him an excuse. just practice Hun

  42. Rita Haywood February 23, 2011

    trey songz 2005 >>>>>>>> trey songz 2011

  43. STRAX February 23, 2011

    @LUVLIFE

Nobody really cared about Trey back in ’04, in reality, he was a “CD filler” with TROY TAYLOR PRODUCED MOST IF NOT ALL HIS TRACKS. By no stretch of the imagination was he a big hitter. He was not not talking the s*** he does now, was he? He could have never said half the s*** he does now, this is why he is being exposed for being quite an average artist.

Lets get it right, Trey only got the Aretha link due to industry connections.

Also, he did not write most of his material, Johnta Austin and Troy Taylor did…

Trey needs to get a vocal coach urgently, no major artist in most of R&B history has sounded as bad, if this is the case, please name them?

Not questioning your taste in music, as I like Trey’s music, however he is not as talented as his promotion backing or annoying swagger suggests…

  44. STRAX February 23, 2011

    @RITA HAYWOOD

Agreed. Trey was a more credible artist years ago, than he is now. The spotlight has exposed his lack of high level talent… He needs to take a back seat

  45. MissPamela February 23, 2011

Keyshia did well, but she has so many bad vocal performances that we just didnt expect that much.
Trey is a guy that excudes confident, the moment he missed a key, he got nervous cauz he is a perfectionist. He’s an amazing singer, live and studio.. we all know that.
His voice just wasnt there,, hes been working to hard, needs to let his voice rest a little.
He’s allowed 1 “weak” vocal performance, have a heart.. we been listening to Keyshia, Rihanna, Ciara and even mary J B mess up vocals for years

  46. bigmyke757 February 23, 2011

Trey Songz is a habitual bad performer this was ridiculous this was something that would’ve never flew in the past when music was good.

  47. Zett February 24, 2011

I was not impressed by not one of those singers. Guy bought it on and was quite entertaining.
I was like, wtf couldn’t BET find better entertainers then those other lot. Absolutely AWEFUL!
    K. Coles sounded terrible but better than usual, and her dress was horrible with her boobs big and sagging, b*** sticking out, looked pure ghetto.
I loved Jamie Fox and Cicely Tyson’s speech, other than that, the show was very embarrassing to black people, and someone needs to do an overall on BET. Straighten up your act………. Yuck!
