if you think you saw the last of Christina Aguilera’s Super Bowl performance then think again. Footage of the diva’s rehearsal of the US national anthem has surfaced. Watch her rendition below:
Although Aguilera didn’t perform the song in its entirety, it’s obvious that this would have been the performance to watch. Her voice rang through that entire stadium in a way that most singers can only dream of achieving. Furthermore, she didn’t oversing or show any sign of strain.
Hopefully, Aguilera can devliver a similar showing at this weekend’s Grammy Awards. Otherwise, her tribute to Aretha Franklin might be nothing more than a shouting match between her and Jennifer Hudson.

Not much of an improvement…I still hear horrible strained notes, off pitch notes, unsupported mushy foggy low notes. If people take this as good singing, or even acceptable singing…damn, standards have fallen real low since Whitney and Mariah reigned as supreme vocalists.

This video wasn’t working (I’ll keep trying). Xtina doesn’t have anything to prove. She’s clearly a voice of her own generation and she has given the world some amazing vocal performances over and over again! If you don’t know that this woman can sing by now, you’ve been in a coma or under a rock for a very long time. She’s made some mistake singing the anthem because of her nerves getting the best of her. It’s not such a big deal, nor was that performance so bad. She sounded better than some artist on their best days. I’m sure Xtina covering songs for the Queen of soul will make everything right – in just a few days there won’t be anymore doubters!

Dosent always have to sound pretty and packaged,you feel it more when its slightly off key because its real emotion. people are so quick to throw shade on artist,but they all have something that makes shine. Christina is a wonderful singer and one of the few I respect cause she can SANG with soul and emotion. Soldiers, Families of Soldiers are standing on the field of war and this is the National Anthem you sing it right knowing all the words.

her team didn’t leak this video. carrie underwoods rehearsal tape came out after she sang it last year. christina and carrie both chose not to lip synch it, and thier rehearsals were alot better than the actual performance, which makes me think its just nerves.

Why would it be nerves, when she has been performing the National Anthem in front of audiences, since she was a little girl? I can’t watch the video yet, but judging by Trent’s unusually fair critique and the comments, it seems that she sounded miles better. I wonder what caused her to mess up at the actual performance. Beyonce the one with a limited range? LOL, Christina is the one who struggles with the upper belting and sounds like is in pain, while Beyonce simply sings those notes effortlessly. Christina is the one whose low register is mushy, foggy and weak, while Beyonce can in fact still project a note as low as C3 without a microphone shoved up her mouth like Christina needs for her low pitches.
In reality Christina doesn’t even have 2 octaves of quality range, not even 1 octave, her comfortable “great voice” range is EXACTLY Bb3-Ab4, below Bb3 her voice becomes hollow and weak, above Ab4 her voice starts showing signs of strain. Christina simply does not have it together as a vocalist, the fact she sounds like she is struggling should clue you in on that.
