Jessie J Pushes Album…Forward

Published: Thursday 3rd Feb 2011 by Sam

In what is a rarity in the music industry, chart sensation Jessie J has pushed up the release of her debut  album ‘Who You Are’.

Full story after the jump…

Writing on Twitter just moments ago, J said:

“So…Due to my amazing #heartbeats…Showing so much love and support…Myself @islandrecordsuk and @RepublicRecords have decided that you deserve the album EARLY!!!! Who is ready for the NEW date?? The NEW DATE for #WHOYOUARE my debut album has been bought forward to… 28th FEBRUARY!!! That’s 4 weeks early! That’s like soooon! That’s in like 25 days!!!”

The news comes on the heels of the success of J’s latest single ‘Price Tag’. Featuring B.o.B, the song is already #1 in the midweek chart – despite only being made available on iTunes on Sunday – the same day its video premiered. What’s more, this has all transpired just two weeks after her debut single ‘Do It Like A Dude’ peaked at #2 on the Official UK Singles Chart.

You really cannot deny the girl. It’s been so long since the industry have fully got behind an act as talented as Jessie. Hence, her success is not only refreshing, it is oh-so-deserved. Bring on February 28th!

I’m so happy for Jessie and woop for getting the album early! 😀

  3. KD February 3, 2011

Can’t wait for the album. But I have to say that I completely hate her image (black lipstick and nailpolish).

  4. josh thevarajoo February 3, 2011

YES! looking forward to this! XD

  5. LSZ February 3, 2011

Congrats to her, I am looking forward to her album!!!

  6. Jamie February 3, 2011

Looks like someone’s trying to avoid going up against Britney if you ask me…

  7. Gargon February 3, 2011

You don’t push things toward yourself!

    IT’S PULL SAM! PULL!

  8. Bubbles February 3, 2011

Have to agree with KD, I cannot stand her image. I have a love hate relationship with her, sometimes I adore her and other times she pisses me off. Anyway I cannot deny that the girl is talented and I will definitely purchase the album.

I love Her , and i Love Price Tag!!!!

  10. scepticbeliever February 3, 2011

This is because they are afraid people are forgetting about her too quick and that they can’t spend any more on videos…. wait for the queen Britney to shut down this no talent tyrant, hell i’m anticipating ciaras album more and that sh*ts already out!

  11. TIMMI February 3, 2011

I can’t wait to hear this girls album. She needs more promo though!!

I LOVE how all these artists are jumping on the bandwagon and trying to name their fans. Lambs came about before all of them… They could never.

  12. Dave February 3, 2011

Is this the US date too?

  13. gabs February 3, 2011

Psh. She is overrated and overhyped. They’re moving it up so people dont forget her by the time its released. Her image is so tryhard. Its obvious shes trying to be some sort of icon from the start and it comes across as fake. Rihanna/gaga wannabee. I know she has the voice and the songs don’t completely suck but shes still missing something. Theres a certain kind of appeal that you can’t create out of thin air. Idk how to explain it

  14. Yellow Gorillah February 3, 2011

    I DIG HER

But she has to prove to me she is worth the hype. she really is talnted song writer and she is a good singer watch some of her acustic stuff but I also feel like something is missing Hmm. do it like a dude is my tuuuune i don’t like price tag its boring as f*** =/

  15. TIMMI February 3, 2011

Who You Are >>>>> Price Tag

  16. delroy February 3, 2011

If she is a so called wannbe then shes a wannabe that can actully sing unlike billy goat and the face with no voice. why compare this lady to the face with no voice i mean shes dropped 9 plces out of the top ten in the UK while this lady has two track in the top ten no6 nd no1 in midweeks. Im waiting for a yank to hit back and say something like ” that don’t mean anything it’s not in our charts”.

  17. gabs February 3, 2011

    @ Delroy

She can sing of course! She has a great voice. I meant that in terms of the image and the way shes being sold and marketed shes a wannabe. It seems off. I don’t not like her and her songs, I just don’t think it matches the hype and I dont like the image. She can’t pull off that look to me. That was just my opinion. Great voice but not getting down with her “unique look” and “originality”. Theres a certain way to do it without seeming desperate. Rihannas image, whether you like her as an artist or not, is effortless(in a good way). You buy that she wears those things and looks that way because it really is her style whereas this chick Jesse seems like shes desperate chasing for that “next gaga” title

“Im waiting for a yank to hit back and say something like ” that don’t mean anything it’s not in our charts”. ”

I’m a “yank” and i’m not saying that at all. Sure it means something. She hasnt even released anything in the US yet I think so how can I judge her success yet? Maybe she will have hit after hit for years, shes just not connecting with me

  18. Auntie Jackie February 3, 2011

I want to see her succeed in the United States, but I have to agree with some of these comments. She’s an amazing singer, song-writer with a great personality. But her image is like 2-3 years old or something. That’s not going to fly in the U.S. In the United States image matters so much that she has to be perfectly on point and she’s not at that point yet. Either way, I hope she catches on. She’s great.

  19. hmmmmmmm….ok then??? February 3, 2011

u guys act like rihanna is the be all and end all, when in fact i think jessie’s look seems more realistic i mean look at her swag down in the video of her singin who u are in the subway…..u guys knw rihanna dont look like how she does on red carpets i mean look at her in barbados!!! fact is jessie can sing/write #thatisall

  20. s February 3, 2011

This is wicked news…. I cannot wait to get my hands on her album she is awesome and long may her success continue 🙂

  21. vegasgirl February 3, 2011

YAY for JEssie! Funny reading comments regarding image. Everyone has their opinions, I don’t think her imaging looks forced at all and I do think it will work in the U.S., whenever she decides to launch here. She look very comfortable in her skin to me.

The girl has an ease and confidence when she is singing and when she isn’t, which is all you need to carry ANYTHING off, IMO. I thin.k too many people get “imaging” mixed up with having an “it ” factor. Jessie has the “it” factor to me. Good luck Jessie J

  22. Wake Up Six February 3, 2011

    Niiiiiice!

  23. Chrystine February 3, 2011

I agree with the others that yes she is talented, but her image is all wrong and seems fake. And I think her being overhyped and overexposed when she hasn’t even done anything yet in the states and her songs not being that good makes her really unlikable to me. But I do want to like her because she is talented.

  24. DION-ISH February 4, 2011

    @AUNTIE JACKIE

“She’s an amazing singer, song-writer with a great personality. But her image is like 2-3 years old or something”

klhsfhjlsjhs CLOCK all that tea…..I was wondering what it was but you just hit the spot…..Thats exactly what it is….Her style image seems sooo 2008 or something, nothing new, hot, unexpected etc. like what Rihanna and Gaga brought. Her whole music/stlye just seems TIRED to me. She can sing, but im not feeling her records AT ALL. Just like i like Bruno mars as a person and talent but i cant get into his music.

  25. Mike February 4, 2011

Love her! When does it come out in the US? I’ll actually buy the CD along with Adele’s and Leona’s in the summer.

  26. RihannaForever February 4, 2011

Great personality and voice, but her music is just kind of meh.

  27. Shea Butter February 5, 2011

i’d bump my album forward to if Brittney was releasing in March, I mean I don’t think Brittney is going to slay big time but I wouldn’t compete with her ass. Brittney has a machine behind her that is looking for another chart smash

  28. unknowntheartist February 5, 2011

Love the voice, don’t mind the styling and it’s about time Jessie got her break.

Who gives a shite if Britney’s cd comes out same time? At least, we know Jessie can sing live and very well at it.
To all these naysayers claiming her styling is Gaga-ish/Rihanna-ish, why can’t the girl have it her way?
Y’all act like Kelis never ran kooky fashion before Rihanna and Gaga, years ago. But then again, those commenting may be young ‘uns who have only been exposed to mainstream poptarts.
