New Video: Jennifer Hudson – ‘Where You At’

Published: Friday 25th Feb 2011 by Sam

Soulful diva Jennifer Hudson teams up with director Anthony Mandler for the video for new single ‘Where You At’. The clip, which premiered moments ago on VEVO, serves as the first release to be lifted from Hudson’s ‘I Remember Me’ project – which hits stores March 22nd.

Check out the visual after the jump…

As echoed many a time, the song does not rouse me in the slightest. However, its compelling video does a fine job of selling the borderline unsellable. One can only hope Hudson’s project yields material which is legitimately befitting of solid visuals such as this.

  2. RONALDMATTERS.COM February 25, 2011

  4. Mike February 25, 2011

It’s a nice video but too safe. Very bland. :/

  5. Ray February 25, 2011

    This is a nice video..but sort of boring…the song..is just….BLAH.. I am a “IT”S OKAY”

I’d agree that in this pop/dance-favorable decade, it’s not likely this song will succeed, but the song itself is sound. The vocals are really strong and emotionally executed, although the weak production doesn’t do much to support Hudson. It kind of forces her to work harder, especially at the end, to inject energy into the song. Had more effort been put into arranging the music for her voice, its odds of success would have been much more favorable.

  8. Dave February 25, 2011

The video was really good. Wasn’t “budget friendly” or “recession proof.” The song isn’t all that, but at least it’s talking about real things, a real story, & she really sells the song live. I’m actually gonna purchase it today. Jenn has really been growing on me lately.

  9. Anna February 25, 2011

I’m sorry but Jennifer Bores me and is so underrated!Sad thing I she can actually SANG too

  10. SueMe February 25, 2011

This here is REAL MUSIC, . I applaud her for not switching up on us. it has been proven time and time again, that just because u do pop music doesn’t mean you will sell… the fact that Sam and b*** boy aka Trent stan for the Kelly Rowland’s and Mooriah’s of the world disturb my spirit..

  11. stayfly February 25, 2011

if we are just talkin bout the video the video is amazing. anthony mandler knows what he is doing.

the song ..is just okay. the video makes it more interesting. but its still a pretty dry song

  12. Teairra February 25, 2011

LOVE IT AND LOVE HER!! CANT WAIT TILL THE ALBUM RELEASES!!

  13. stan February 25, 2011

well.. the chicago skyline looks nice

  14. trail February 25, 2011

This song is sick!! J Hud sounds great! The video is nice, the production and delivery works. This is real R&B. If kelly rowland sung this then he would be jumping up and down.

  15. MuzikJunkie February 25, 2011

I really enjoyed this video! I LOVE J-Hud and I really hope she delivers with this album!

  16. MissUnderStood February 25, 2011

Wonderful. From the production, to the lyrics, to the storyline, everything is on point about this song and video. But considering the state music is in it wont get the attention it deserves. But I for one will buy this album when its released 🙂

  17. Prince&Queen February 25, 2011

I thought the video would’ve changed my mind about the song but it didn’t. The video is Hawt but the song still sucks. I dont know y she waisting her time with this song and she’s had better songs.

  18. MISHKA February 25, 2011

Now that I’ve seen the video, I like the song a lot more.

R Kelly is still a genius. Where U at, Tremaine?

  19. S*** (#THE BEY~*STING*) February 25, 2011

She looks nice & the song is quite generally ok but good compared to that BASIC mess out now. I just hope she doesnt think losing all that weight is gonna help her career. PPL found her more appealing when she was a Fat H** AKA what I like to call a Church Soul Walrus.

Her voice sounded creepy at times but Nice track though.

  20. S*** (#THE BEY~*STING*) February 25, 2011

    @Prince&Queen

In her defense, her voice isnt versatile enough for very many songs.

& vocally BEYONCE >>>> Yeah, B**** I Said it (Not @ you Prince)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Sc4flH-NIg

Bey took Poor YELLifer to CHURCH, Kicked her off the Stage & showed her how to SANG A SONG!! 😆

  21. S*** (#THE BEY~*STING*) February 25, 2011

Notice Bey eating up most her Notes from the Start??

  22. Prince&Queen February 25, 2011

@S*** u r totally right Jennifer voice isn’t versitile enough for many songs. Especially in that video u posted. I actually looked at that performace twice today. Beyonce showed her who is definitely the Boss of that song.

  23. Prince&Queen February 25, 2011

I think Jennifer brings out Beyonces best singing voice though. I just loved the way she sung Listen at the Oscars 07.

  24. ANONYMOUS February 25, 2011

This is probably one of the most uninspiring, mediocre songs I’ve ever heard. Even Jennifer’s vocals can’t breathe life into this awful song. Who the hell made this the first single? She should be afraid, very afraid.

  25. king-quez February 25, 2011

O NOW YOU GET THE DANM VIDEO !!!!!!!!!!!!! SLOW A$$ WEBSITE HAD TO STILL IT FROM R****.COM…………………R**** HAS ALL THE STUFF FIRST ! A DANM SHAME SHUT YOUR WEBSITE DOWN !

  26. S*** (#THE BEY~*STING*) February 25, 2011

But Vocally, Jenifer’s BIGGEST criticism is her lacked inability to Sing WITH & NOT… AT!! the song if you catch my drift…

j hud has a very strong “black voice” we need to embrace those more. whitey is taking everything else for us. Please let us hold on to our soul. im glad jennifer is going this route. its her all the way.

the lyrics are kind of iffy at times and so is the melody but her delivery brings out the best in this song. it has grown on me. she picks pretty good songs to make radio friendly songs with the type of voice she has. f*** pop. im an rnb soul fan

  37. Beystanbish February 25, 2011

Dead @ dummies. And you Stan for miscarried. What accomplishments does she have. Does b**** knows what it means to sell a million records? Lol

Once again here goes Beyonce’s threatened a** fans. Jhud>Beyonce’. She showed great skill in this song. Beyonce is a decent/good vocalist and that is it. Beyonce’ is a performer. Jhud is a great vocalist. She infused her head voice, great belting, and great power in this song. Stop bringing Beyonce’ into every topic that has nothing to do with her. Her crazy stans are the only ones that believe she’s some stroke of genius vocalist. Jhud did an amazing job vocally on this song. The song took a while to warm up to but her voice and vocals made it work.

Go focus on Beyonce’s behind shaking elsewhere. Foolssss………..

  45. Traci Summers February 25, 2011

why is this giving me ” Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart”by Alicia Keys and ” Listen” by Beyonce

  46. MIAN February 25, 2011

Yeah Sam, you’re tripping. This song and video are both tight. 🙂

  47. That FLOP Juice February 25, 2011

Good song, and I admit that Jennifer is absolutely talented, but this was too much Mary J. Blige for me.
Both the song and the video.

  48. Royalkev February 25, 2011

I still don’t care for the song much, but the video is quite nice. J.Hud is looking so beautiful. She’s definitely a new woman!

  50. Sarah February 26, 2011

Ummm not even going to approach the Beyonce stans. Just know Jennifer Hudson has the best vocals of our generation. Her power and soul is something other artists can’t meet.

  51. Tru Voice February 26, 2011

I’m lovin it! lol. The video really helps bring out the song because the song itself is BLAH, but with the video it’s just brought to another level.

  52. Ernest February 27, 2011

O.M.G…..Everybody just stop being so analytical and enjoy Jennifer’s craft. As usual, her lyrics and vocals do a damn good job of giving you a visual without the video. The video is a plus. Jennifer sweetheart keep continuing to give us a different selection of music, I think you are tremendous
