The highly-anticipated video for Lady GaGa‘s international smash hit ‘Born This Way’ premiered only moments ago on VEVO. Check out the Nick Knight-directed and Laurie Ann Gibson-choreographed directed visual below:
It seems that in her never-ending quest to push the artistic envelope and outperform her past productions, GaGa has missed the mark by making a video that was more confusing than exciting.
While I do understand the correction between the video concept and the song (the literal process of birth was obviously the key facet), I found myself more repulsed by the imagery than anything else. However, in probably the 1st instance of her career, at least GaGa can officially say that she didn’t imitate Madonna.
Still, this is one video where it would have been more preferable if GaGa didn’t try to overwhelm my eyes (and stomach) with her ‘art’.

I think Gaga looks really good in her appearance. Her body looks great and I even like some of the fashion in the video. I just thought that “the crazy” in the video gets a bit boring because it’s just always so over the top. It’s like she crosses that line from exploring something that’s artistic to something that’s just silly. The dancing is just off, I’m sorry! I love how people seem to think you can only be a GaGa stan or a Britney stan, it’s impossible to be both, or at least it seems it. I’m not gonna lie i’m fed up of biased opinions on both parts. I love both, their music, their music videos, their interviews ect. but I am not biased. HIAM was a great video in my opinion, not only because I love the song and Britney, but because it was a real spectacle, something I was left shocked with, in a good way. The dancing in it was on point, she appeared happy and looked great! GaGa however, is completely different, she feels she has to be weird and different to be successful, and good on her because it’s working, I wasn’t too happy with BTW when I first heard it, but it’s grown on me. The video however doesn’t do it for me, I know what she’s trying to say, and on that aspect whatever she was hoping to achieve she has done it, but she looked tired, not only in her eyes, but her dancing, she”s not a dancer and good on her for trying but she just looked odd, and not in the way she wants to be perceived. So, the song works for me, but the video doesn’t, however I still love her and can’t wait to hear her album and see her live again.

That Prince GIF pretty much accurately surmised my reaction to this vid. It looks like a gay, parody version of Thriller. Especially the beginning, I was laughing my ass off at that part (and not in a good way). Even the low-budget Just Dance was a visual masterpiece compared to this. Gaga had happed teeth when she was little too, she was also making a reference to it, and she has said how seeing Madonna looked beautiful with her gapped teeth made her feel better about herself when she was little (though she eventually got her teeth straightened up).

I actually love the video. I feel like whatever Gaga does at this point, everyone’s going to label it a fail and keep it moving. It’s like before, when she was actually making some bad videos, everyone was so obsessed that they thought EVERYTHING she did was amazing. Now, it’s the opposite and everyone is kind of sick of her, so we hate everything she comes out with. I mean, what do you guys want to see??? What does she have to do to make you guys happy?
I loved the storyline and the whole birth sequence. I also thought the scene wear they were all embracing in that gooey s*** was beautiful for some odd reason. I think this is the most attractive she’s looked since Poker Face (which is the only video where she genuinely looks hot) and I just liked the overall look of the video.
I can’t help but to laugh my ass off at the choreo though. Lmao, that shake kills me everytime! I could do without that damn eye on her chin as well.

I love pretty much every Kpop boyband – B2ST, TVXQ, Big Bang, 2AM, 2PM, SHINee, Super Junior – all of them. I don’t know if it’s because they’re super hot, or what, but they’re way better than the girl groups. The only girl group I can get into is 2NE1. The others are so meh. Especially SNSD, and After School’s subgroup, Orange Caramel. They are HORRIBLE.
And of course Kahi slays at performing. Every Kpop performer does! Oh, and my favorite solo/subgroup is either GD or GD&TOP. I loved all of them, but I think GD’s solo album was amazing, and then GD&TOP was pretty great, too. A great duo. Not to bring him up, but I love how Da Praffeet like crushes on all of them. Good point. I don’t think she tried to recreate it, so much as she wanted it to be a theme, but didn’t successfully do that. It was almost too cohesive. I would’ve preferred if she used that theme, but more interestingly. It was a little too obvious and basic the way they, or she, executed it. But I think that’s likely. She always seems to long for her DC days again. It’s like she was dying to go solo then, but now kind of misses the group. I doubt they’ll ever reunite, though. If they do, it won’t be anything more than a tour.

Her recordings during the I Am…Yours were really weak (for her). I don’t know why they decided to record her last showing when her voice was extremely hoarse. Either way, she delivered. Maybe, that’s just me being over analytical. But, the beginning arrangement of CIL was AMAZING!

I did see it, and I actually kind of hated it! And it is funny. I speak Korean, so I listened to the song again after I watched the video to double-check that the song wasn’t like a “tonight we will” type song, and it’s not. It’s like a present tense song, so it’s funny. And TOP could get it any time, any day, any place. Just call me up, Seung-hyun. He could put his – never mind. The I Am Tour is just classic and beautiful. It’s one of the best projects she’s ever taken part of, and my personal favorite. The effects, her vocals, the song choices, it showed her pure, raw talent and why she’s a future legend.

She was not in good vocal shape during those performances. She performed five showings prior to recording that DVD, she was extremely hoarse. Yes, she sounded amazing. But, she’s Beyonce. She’s going to deliver even if she had laryngitis. She event went flat on the crescendo in CIL. And that Sweet Love performance is nothing compared to the one I posted for @True Blue.

I’m tired and not terribly articulate when it comes to explaining visions, so I’ll do my best.
First, no corny-ass extended intro or anything. Just straight to the music. Alright, now for the first verse and chorus she’s in front of a regular high school with all of its students (the student body is very diverse, both ethnically and culturally). They’re all dancing. And I mean REALLY dancing. Like pros. GaGa is dressed normally but still maintains her edginess. But she’s covered up for the most part.
Second verse they’re in a subway station (this all takes place in NYC, btw). They dance West Side Story style, on the platform. In the second half of the verse they’re in the train dancing (similar to Love Game, except not so sexually suggestive). By the time they’re at the chorus again, they hop off the train (which drops them off at Time Square) and leave the station, again doing it West Side Story-style, they’re not leaving it calmly and normally.
Through the bridge they’re making their way through Time Square and more people are joining them. We see GaGa holding the hands of the people near her and as they get through the center of TS, at that point the crowd is so huge it looks like a parade. Then by the final chorus they all dance together. And this time there’s plenty of confetti. We even see a wheelchair-bound dude doing a wheelie.
By the time the song ends they all sing the chorus acapella.

The video had a very cinematic feeling to it, the gun part reminded me of the movie “Sin City”. I wonder how much money they spent on this video, it looked pricey. I thought I understood some of it, then I got a little lost but whatever. The visuals were the standouts, i love how the beginning looked (didn’t mind the birthing scene as much as I thought I would, maybe because of the way they shot it, it was hard to make out exact,y what was happening).
The choreography is so basic it’s not even funny but I get the lyrical vibe she was going for. I dont really know what to make of the video as a whole but ‘i didn’t hate it, i may actually like it.

Gaga has been discussing unicorns in interviews for months now. If you look at one of the Born This Way album pictures that’s been out since the early January, you’ll see Gaga’s unicorn tatoo. I am officially done with Lady Gaga after this. Tried to watch it, but it was SO F****** BORING and generic that I couldn’t continue. Well, it probably wasn’t generic, but it was like so underwhelming and so been-there-done-that. Gaga was at her top with “The Fame” and had continuously success with “The Fame Monster” which really made her step into the music industry. However, I think that this will be her worst era ever. Hopefully her last too, as she only gets more and more predictable and repeats/copies herself (and Madonna and Grace Jones). Despite the fact that this will most probably be an era full of record-breaking (She will definitely debut at Billboard 200), I think that after this era, she is yet to prove to the world (at least to me) that she can top her previous work (see: Bad Romance, Paparazzi, Dance In The Dark and so on)
