This week’s That Grape Juice Cover Star is Alexandria. The 16 year old, Maryland native serves up a spine-tingling rendition of Adele‘s smash ‘Someone Like You’. One most certainly beyond her humble years.

Not only has the teen’s version left me speechless, her age has too. A voice like that at just 16?! It’s so reassuring to know that, in the midst of iTunes/digital era (see: mediocre artists), real, and raw talent is still on the come-up. Amazing performance.

I love the name alexandria. She has a lovely voice though Adele’s rendition gives me chills, Alexandria did a good job.

Lots of peeps have good if not great voices but getting to a “celeb” level is not just having the voice. It’s how you look, how you’re presented, who’s your management, who they refer you to, connections, promos, etc etc. If you dont have access to that, you’re shit out of luck. Like, I’m sure there were singers as good as Aretha or even Whitney back in the day but never got the opportunity to be showcased. This chica is “ok” but she aint great. Lacks breath and power control, flat in certain areas. She doesnt sing with ease but struggles and has to put hard effort esp. near the end. 3/5 stars. NEXT!

If you want to see a worthy cover of this song look up the sun website bizz sessions for a band called the Draymin, made the song their own. the cover they did makes it a totally different song and gave me chills. something that not even Adeles did for me!!!

She’s got potential. Some parts got a little uncomfortable for me but yeah she’s got a voice. She may wanna work on her range a little bit. Other than that, I can definitely say I’m interested in hearing more from her.

I previously believed that no one could possibly due this song justice from the emotion exuded in it’s delivery by Adele to the sheer raw vocal aspects of the song itself on both the orginal track and in performance, but for me this girl definately has talent and I feel that some of the previous posters are quite harsh in their assessments I feel, she is after all 16 years old, her talent is wha many would desrcibe as ‘raw’ she is not the finished article, who knows what this girl can be in a years time with practice, at this age to capture this song the way I feel she has, I am in awe.
