As soon as the intro to the song hits I knew that the track would be serious. Instantly you recognize the Major Laserz sample from the infectious club hit ‘Pon the Floor’ which was also sampled by Dirty Money on the Swizz Beatz produced ‘Ass on the Floor.’ There is no comparison between the two, Diplos (Chris Brown Look At Me Now, M.I.A. Boyz, Paper Planes) production makes Swizzys seem like Childs Play. And y’all know I love Swizz Beatz. ‘Girl’ is an absolute killer. Beyonce has rose the bar so high that she will even have a difficult time surpassing it.
In a day where everything (including urban music) is in some way related to Euro Pop, Beyonce has a chance to change the sound of radio. The song is massive enough to make up for the lack of authenticity in ‘Diva’ & the bromidic ‘Get Me Bodied’ & ‘Single Ladies.’ Infact ‘Girl’ is all 3 of those songs rolled into 1 on steroids. The hard hitting production and aggressive vocals come with an equal amount of aggressive lyrics on the girl power anthem. Beyonce asks “Who run the world?” before answering “Girls do!” The cocky singer even shouts out her hubby, singing “Imma bump in my Jeep/ listening to Jay-Z.”
Bey deserves a big fat A+ for ‘Girl.’ And this isn’t coming from a Beyonce stan, she was counted out in my book for the simple fact that Pop music has completely taken over almost every genre. She once again set up her own lane to drive in. Even though the track is as gay as a Barbara Streisand concert, its sure to please any music fan, straight, gay, male or female. And for the first time in history i’m excited to hear a Beyonce album. Lets hope Diplo got ahold of majority of the album.

What just happened here on TGJ as well as ATRL. You know what ATRL is, right? It’s a music discussion forum site. I went onto ATRL, to a Beyonce – “Girl” thread, and began discussing the song. Then, a Beyonce stan began insulting Da Prawphet of DaPrawphetBlog (that’s code for the real thing that TGJ blocked) and his website’s post on “Girl”, and I defended him since we’re friends. Then, all these Beyonce stans started insulting me, calling me a dumbass, troll, Beyonce hater (though I never said anything about Beyonce), and told me to leave the thread.
After that, I contacted a moderator of the site, complaining that I had been reported to ATRL, and saying that they should’ve been reported for breaking ATRL rules (like stanning, trolling, flamebaiting, and fighting). But then, the moderators just told me that, since it was a Beyonce thread that this all happened on, that it was fine for them to break the rules like that. It pissed me off so much, especially considering that Britney, Rihanna and Ke$ha stans can’t get away with doing that kind of thing on ATRL, but Beyonce ones can. Wow, I have to say I find Beyonc stans quite scary. I hope it is a good track saw a clip on youtube of rehearsals, the dance routine looked great, the beat was good too just nothing different to what we are hearing in Europe in dance stuff.
I know people are going to probably shout me down, but while as a beautiful woman Beyonce always looks good, the images to me (just my opinion) reek of a trying a little too hard and very Gaga.
Also, I genuinely think that in terms of worldwide Beyonce will obviously do really well, but Gaga will do better because people are just more interested in Gaga at the moment especially the mainstream media. I think Born this way was mediocre but it did amazingly well and I think Beyonce has always tried to follow the trend as opposed to singing to her own tune.
