The Billboard Music Awards are back! After a short hiatus, the ceremony will now air live from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand on May 22nd via ABC, featuring performances from some of the biggest names in the industry including Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez.
The Awards, which had been cancelled since 2007, honors those acts who excelled on the Billboard charts during the period of February 28th 2010 through March 1st 2011. In addition to Rihanna and Lopez, the presentation will include live showings from Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Taio Cruz.
More performers are expected to be added to the lineup in the coming weeks. Get ready!

Jennifer Lopez’s star might not shine as bright as it once did. But she might just make a grand return. She was a good performer and had a good amount of hits. Haven’t like any music from Jennifer since the album that came out around the time of her engagement to Ben. I don’t like her new music but she does deserve credit for her achievements.
I’m tired of half assed performances by Rihanna. I love that girl but if she performs 10 times only 1 out of the 10 will be considered a good performance. She lucky her music is on point and she’s so damn beautiful.
I want Chris there but I don’t want a his stans victory speech making it seem like he finally defeated the evil Rihanna’s machinations to ruin his career. He deserved the backlash he received. How else would he have learned.

I do agree with this. I know that I’ve said in the past that he received his punishment from the courts, but any regular person would have to suffer repercussions at their job as well, so I guess it was only right that radio stations would stop playing his music. Looking at it though, it made us CB fans go even harder for him, trying to get his songs on the radio and everything. I don’t agree with some of the other CB fans though, that Rih’s a devil worshiper and that there is some type of conspiracy against Chris. That’s silly to me and it takes away from them actually supporting Chris.

SN: I don’t think people would have a problem with the same people performing if they felt that they had talent and were giving great performances, but I do see for the most part that the people who are popular right now are just settling (if they actually have talent, that is) or are just mediocre artists period. I actually like some of the songs that these mediocre artists make, but come time for them to perform them, they either do not deliver, they are overshadowed by the other artists performing with them, or they are not consistent with their different performances of the same song. It’s quite sad that they just rely on the fact that they have a group of dedicated (and overall delusional) fans/stans to make them money instead of delivering on EVERY performance. Great songs, and great performances, is what I care about, not #1 or “hit” songs.

I agree! I don’t like Taio’s music because I think it sucks to me. I’ve never seen him perform, but I don’t think I want to. I haven’t really like BEP since their “Monkey Business” album. Their music has sucked to me overall since then. I like some of JLo’s music, but I don’t really like her new song that she has out, so I’m not tuning in to see her. Rih has improved (for her that is) but there is only so much improvement that you can do when you don’t have the natural talent. I wish she had talent with all of the success that she has been having, but she doesn’t unfortunately. If I were to tune in, I would only watch Lady Antebellum’s performance. I agree with @Noodles I hope that they get some better performers.

Another thing, I get sick and tired of people celebrating Charlie Sheen’s antics, by quoting him and using his stupid catch phrases. He needs people to tell him to get help. I’m not a fan of his by no means, but I’m not a hypocrite either. I think they are going to honor ppl who had songs from “February 28th 2010 through March 1st 2011″ per what TGJ wrote so other than Deuces (went #1) which should be honored and Yeah 3X, NBS & Make a Movie Twister/CB (all charted high on BB), Chris’ music probably wont be featured. F.A.M.E. dropped March 22 and LAMN just started charted high after the March 1 cut-off point!

The fact that you think that Rihanna has more vocal range is opinion, not truth. Chris actually makes it seem as if he is a better dancer than singer in some of his performances, but he definitely has power in his voice as well as range, so don’t get it twisted. I agree with @None Ya though. Chris definitely has the natural talent, with some voice lessons he can be even better than he is now. I don’t know if he’s going to do that though, with him rehearsing for his F.A.M.E. tour in Australia, but I doubt that they would hurt at all. They can only help.

Chris Brown is a talented entertainer…his voice is adequate to decent, but he is very talented in other areas that make up for it (dancing, writing, graffiti ). He has star appeal as well. If Im thinking about a male vocalists though, Chris would not pop into my head( moreso Luther Vandross, Neyo, even Craig david would come to mind)
Rihanna- umm her voice is unique and she has star appeal but she is not really talented. She just has catchy songs.
Beyonce- one of the best entertainers of our generation.

The only thing that Britney had going for herself was dancing. She was never a strong vocalist but she could dance with the best of them! First the owners of this site make personal attacks against Rihanna. There are some Rihanna stans who are on the offensive against Brown. But there are far more Brown fans here then Rihanna fans. Chris mostly gets shade for assaulting Rihanna 2 years ago. Hmmm lets break it down:
Chris Brown is a talented entertainer…his voice is adequate to decent, but he is very talented in other areas that make up for it (dancing, writing, graffiti ). He has star appeal as well. If Im thinking about a male vocalists though, Chris would not pop into my head( moreso Luther Vandross, Neyo, even Craig david would come to mind)
Rihanna- umm her voice is unique and she has star appeal but she is not really talented. She just has catchy songs.
Beyonce- one of the best entertainers of our generation.
Voice= very good, has been trained well, very versatile ( not a powerhouse vocalists like Mariah, old Whitney, or Jennifer Hudson). Has star appeal and catchy songs. Some of her songs lack substance but she is competing in the pop world. As she matures, the material will.

To be honest, I didnt really like single ladies when I heard it on the radio. It sounded like a “get me bodied” rip off. But the video made me like the song more. Will we ever have an award show like the 2010 Grammy awards, it seems everybody step their game up that night. You had Gaga, Beyonce, Pink, the Michael Jackson tribute= EPIC. This years Grammy award was a big let down, now the the Billboard awards line-up. I miss the days when you had artist like Justin Timberlake, Usher, Beyonce, Britney (before the problems), Pink, JLO, etc performing at award shows.

Rihanna has more vocal RANGE then Chris Brown and far far more power behind her belts. The problem with Rih is she cannot control her voice so she makes mistakes often. She is no Beyonce but she is NOT as bad as people would like to believe. Her tone also is very unique. Which means you like her voice or you DONT. So all this talent stuff that Chris Brown fans bring up is a load of crap, then they try and big ups Adele to give more credit to their opinion. I’m not stupid LOL! @THEMAN Have you seen Chris Christmas concert for the President Bush and family. He sounded pretty good to me. He sings and dance at his concerts. Just because Chris doesn’t have a deep voice doesn’t mean that he sounds like a child or Disney sound. There are all types of singers, Michael Jackson voice matured a little from when he was a child, but his voice never was deep. There are all types of vocal styles in music.
