Britney Spears’ ‘Femme Fatale’ has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. However, her fans may want to put their celebrations on hold as the record marks her 2nd her lowest 1st week sales to date, proving that she is definitely not stronger than yesterday.
‘Fatale’ enters the chart this week with sales of only 279k, giving her smallest debut figures since her debut LP, ‘…Baby One More Time’ which debuted with 120k. Spears’ previous lowest seller since then was 2007’s ‘Blackout’ which sold 290k in its 1st week with considerably less promotion than ‘Fatale’.
These numbers only add to the mounting disappointment that Spears has experienced in recent weeks following the quick decline of both her ‘Hold It Against Me’ and ‘Till The World Ends’ singles as well as Enrique Iglesias rejection of offers to join her upcoming summer tour.
On the contrary, artists with actual talent continue to soar. 2011’s best-selling album to date, Adele’s ’21’, moves another 94k at the #3 spot, just behind Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Rolling Papers’ at #2 with 192k. Meanwhile, Chris Brown maintains a position in the top 5 at #4 with ‘F.A.M.E’ selling 88k copies.
Jennifer Hudson’s ‘I Remember Me’ drops to #7 with 54k whereas Mary Mary’s ‘Something Big’ debuts at #10 with just under 42k. Finally, Snoop Dogg made a surprising entry at #8 with ‘Doggumentary’ which sold 49k copies.
This is excellent news for britney fans!

Critics love the album. Who cares about Sales? She’s still #1. The production on this album is amazing, and there is always potential for her next 4 singles to bring the sales up on this album. Also, the next music video looks a lot better with much better choreography. Baby one more time had low sales at first, and that went on to be her most successful album. First off you claim Femme Fatale sold 10k less than Black out and over 100k more than …Baby one more time (her two lowest sold albums right?), so why are you acting like Femme Fatale sold way less than these two albums? I really don’t understand that, it’s obvious you just don’t like her. She’s number 1, yet has the lowest sales to date? huh? That makes no sense. I admit Britney is not the same performance wise and that I must say is very disappointing, but you can’t deny her star power. You claim others have broken her records recently (Lady Gaga, Beyonce, etc), but what you don’t say is that these same artists work hard to do so, while Ms. Spears does not. Britney Spears is the only artist besides rihanna who can literally do nothing special on stage, lip-sync, and still maintain the same hype she’s had since 1998 and sell millions of records worldwide. I hope so! His entire team needs to be changed. I think what he had worked when he entered at age 13 or 14 but now its time to move forward. Jive IMO is a good starter label. They have always had pretty good success with new artists but over the long haul it just seems to fall apart. Look what happened to Ciara. WTH? She is much more talented then those sells figures indicate!
Britney’s career & legacy is ESTABLISHED. Her video & singles catalogue is pop perfection and no one has been able to duplicate her since she came out.

When it comes right down to it, most pop artists are a Gimmick, or at the very least they present some sort of false image to the public so that they KEEP the real them separate from the performance version of them.
Queen Bey is no exception. Lady Gaga is just more outlandish with her persona, but Bey has one too. Only her family and her husband see the real Beyonce. Lady Gaga writes songs, and plays instruments, she puts on an energetic show and sings live. That’s not a gimmick. Beyonce is an excellent performer with a distinct operatic voice, that’s not a gimmick.
But, they both have “personas” why come down so hard on Lady Gaga but not on the Queen Bey? It’s not a question of DIFFERENCE. It’s a question ONLY of DEGREE.

I’m not really sure but we all knew he was going on tour in 2 weeks. He loves the stage so I’m happy that he is just focusing on staying positive and let these negative ass so called adults do their thing! I fell what they have been doing will backfire on them miserably! He is 140k away from Gold. I think he’s doing well considerig the constant purposefully negative media he has received. They made a 10 day story out of 1 broken window while allowing Chralie Sheen to completely destroy the penthouse suite at ny plaza and gave that all of 1 day of media coverage! They also went out of their way to lie about ppl’s attitudes concerning his appearence on DWTS until rating #s came in then they flipped that too!
I said it above and I’ll say it again, the hatred that the media can generate around a person is amazing. They allow certain ppl to slide by and selectively decide which easy target they will pick on! The young among others are always the easiest targets!

Why can’t you use Destiny’s Child’s numbers and albums? I mean, that group took up half of her career. She made half of her earnings with them. Most of his sales come from the states. Britney only had about two live performances, and she literally started performing the week of her album release. I think Rihanna needs counselling, just as Chris does. People always seem to think that if you’re the victim, you don’t need any help and the abuser does. I honestly think that anyone involved in domestic violence, whether it be the abuser or the victim needs to seek counselling because you don’t even know what feelings could be harboring inside a person because of something traumatizing that happened to them.
