For months, there has been mounting speculation surrounding Cheryl Cole‘s involvement with the US incarnation of the X-Factor.
However an official announcement today has ended such talk; confirming that the singer will indeed serve on the judging panel of the hit show when it debuts on Fox this Fall.

Hailed by the British media as being ‘the nation’s sweetheart’, the performer has consistently come under fire from the public for her incessant lip-syncing, lack of talent, and lack of right to judge others. This, however, didn’t appear to phase Simon Cowell and Fox producers, whose actions will now see the ‘singer’ sit beside Cowell and industry heavyweight L.A. Reid.
Speaking on the move, Cole said in a statement:
“I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X Factor. I absolutely love it here in the UK, and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special. I can’t wait to get started.
“I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He’s tried to beat me for three years in the UK, and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this.”
With Cowell adding:
“I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with. She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.”
One more judge is set to be revealed ahead of tomorrow’s filmed auditions.
Needless to say, like many, I’m wondering what Simon and co are smoking. Like, Cheryl Cole. Really?…

I think the X-Factor will fail in the U.S. There are way too many singing shows over here. AI has their following, The Voice now has a following…I just don’t think there is anymore room for another talent show.

A jury has found Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy guilty of assaulting a nightclub worker.The pop star has been sentenced to complete 120 hours of unpaid community service and must also pay her victim £500 compensation.
Tweedy was additionally ordered to pay £3,000 of prosecution costs.
The singer had denied attacking toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa, saying she only punched her in self-defence.
The jury had reached a unanimous verdict that the 20-year-old, from Heaton in Newcastle, was not guilty of a racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm. But they found her guilty of an alternative charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charges against Tweedy stemmed from an incident at the Drink nightclub in Guildford, Surrey, on 11 January. he judge at Kingston Crown Court told the jury there was no question that 39-year-old Mrs Amogbokpa had been injured in the incident but they had to decide whether the singer had acted in self-defence.
Tweedy had denied both charges against her. Judge Richard Haworth told the jury he would accept a majority verdict and the jurors decided by 11 to one that Tweedy was guilty.
Sentencing Tweedy, he criticised her for showing no remorse over the attack.
He said: “This was an unpleasant piece of drunken violence which caused Sophie Amogbokpa pain and suffering.
