Ending months of speculation, it was today officially announced that Nicole Scherzinger will indeed feature on X Factor USA.
However, in a unique twist, the Pop stunner will not be a judge on the Fox show – as initially thought. Rather she is gearing up to co-host the Stateside version of the British show which launched the careers of Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke.

In an official press release, the show’s producers revealed that Scherzinger has been paired with Welshman Steve Jones to present the eagerly anticipated talent-search.
Speaking on his new recruits, Simon Cowell said: “These two are going to be great together. I have always wanted Steve to work with us; I think he is a real star. Nicole is fantastic. I loved working with her on the UK X Factor last year. She is gorgeous and super-talented.”
Scherzinger added: “I am thrilled to be asked by Simon Cowell to host The X Factor. I loved working alongside Simon on the UK show and cannot wait to see what he has in store for the US. I’m so excited to work with Steve Jones and help discover astounding talent from across the country!”
Jones, who hopes US viewers will warm to him come Fall, chimed in saying: “The ability to work day in and day out with Simon Cowell is a dream come true. I am honoured to have that opportunity and thrilled to be able to share the stage with Nicole Scherzinger, whom I adore. I have been approached about working in the States before, but never felt right about those opportunities. But when The X Factor came up, I leapt at the opportunity.”
With filmed auditions set to start this week in Los Angeles, an announcement regarding the show’s fourth judge is believed to be imminent. However, sources close to the situation reveal that former American Idol judge Paula Abdul is set to be unveiled as the final panelist. She, it is believed, will join confirmed judges Cowell, industry heavyweight LA Reid, and Pop pretender Cheryl Cole.

Though this is undeniably a coup for Scherzinger (as her Stateside career was in much need of the gig), something about the whole set-up is jarring to say the least. She’s infinitely more talented and qualified than Cole, yet will stand there reading cue-cards, while her lessor sits judging talent. Like, really.

Yeah it’s a pisstake that Cheryl (who is unknown in the US) and Paula are on the judging panel and the vocal talented Nicole is a host.
I don’t understand. Surly the American Market are going to be confused that there is a chick that they don’t know being the judge and a woman who was part of the biggest american girl group hosting the show…. then you have two accents that you have to contend with, and although Steve Jones is considered good looking to some, he doesn’t exactly set the screen alight when he’s on it…. poor Dermot.
I’m hoping that they keep Dani for the U.K version (which i think this will be the last year) and they find some judges of colour
Love Nicole, glad she got a spot, she’ll get a performance, and people will warm to her even more! Cheryl, won’t do as good, I don’t think the US will be her biggest fans, they might like her at first and dislike her like here in the UK! She isn’t very good judge! 🙁 But hey, sounds good! 😀
Even though I’m annoyed that Nicole isn’t a judge, I’m still happy for her. This could be the boost to her US career that she needs! & Steve Jones is gorgeous so good for him too

Nicole should be a judge not talentless racist Cheryl, Nicole was a great judge on The UK X-factor and I noticed she really pushed hard for the black girl singers unlike Cheryl.
Nicole can sing live, perform amazingly and is not biased she is everything Cheryl is not.

Fact is, the voice is the most intriguing conceptually. X factor js practically the same as ai, and ai is stupid with judges that make bs comments about how amazing each person is. The voice has a limited contestant pool with 4 judges that all have made a name for themselves.

What makes me laugh is that Simon creates all these opportunities for Cheryl and she isn’t even signed to his record company. Cheryl’s label has so far spent such a minimal amount on promo because its guaranteed that she’ll mime her latest song on the shows prime time spot in front of millions of people and this will happen again in America no doubts while his own acts rot in the abyss of syco. I wonder (apart from leona and cher) if any of the other acts will make the stage.
