Jennifer Hudson sure is collecting air-miles, as she treks the globe in support of her ‘I Remember Me’ LP. The power-house vocalist is currently in Australia, where she hosted a special Ustream for fans last night.
On the broadcast, Hudson and her backing singers launched into an impromptu rendition of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ (which was recently popularised by Alexandra Burke).

@James: Beyonce can sing, she just sings in a different style to Jennifer Hudson. Have u seen Beyonce on Oprah singing Listen? She just also chooses to do dance songs as well though. Why do people always compare artists. They are all different and good in their own way. I’m also going to add that Jennifer Hudson is a great artist and hope she makes it big.

@nice_girl..i agree the beyonce oprah performance was really good…..it IS her best performance….not what i saw at the billboard awards……but with that said….that was beyonce pushing her vocals to the limits….there lacks depth and sincerity in her singing….nuance and something that defines her uniquely from any other singer

@James yeah the new song choice isn’t the best like a few others along the way (single ladies, diva) but she does sing a lot of soulful songs. Have u seen her sing Halo on the World Tour?…that is coming from the heart so is Flaws and All. She does push her vocals, yes, but that is to make a great performance. Though not denying Jennifer Hudson is a great artist….I think she just needs to do more promoting or something. Oh and her son is so cute…he was on Ellen and The View….star in the making.

As for the performance…Alexander Burke’s version was just phenomenal to me, so this pales in comparison. She has a big powerful voice though.

@K: I kinda agree with the screaming part. She needs to do less of that..it gets irritating sometimes, though she’s still a great singer. And B, well she’s phenomenal….hate Run The World song but love it live…I think that’s why the song is now at #14 on Itunes and rising, people liked it live so went and bought it. But Jennifer is a really great artist…they’re not better than each other. They both have great but very different vocals and great energy.

Some people have truly been brainwashed by some of the non-soulful mess that is on the radio. This was nothing short of exceptional. I don’t believe in oversinging and vocal coaching…just sing! People who need vocal coaching typically can’t sing in the first place, many people like Fantasia, Jhud, and Christina were taught just to sing. Singing to me is about feeling and once you feel it then the rest is history and it’s obvious Jennifer felt it. That was beautiful.

The only thing she could do is Gospel or R&B. And even R&B is questionable because she can barely do an R&B record without it sounding like a Gospel rendition.
