Video: Lauryn Hill Tributes Bob Marley On ‘Fallon’

Published: Friday 13th May 2011 by Sam

Reclusive star Lauryn Hill made a rare televised appearance this week, when she took to the stage on the ‘Late Show With Jimmy Fallon’. There, the mother of five paid homage to the late, great Bob Marley – the grandfather of her children (with Rohan Marley).

Check out one legend tribute another below, as Hill covers ‘Chances Are’ and ‘You Could Be Loved’

Amazing.

Easily the most refined we’ve seen her in some time, watching this actually reignited my faith in her ability to ‘wow’ in the here and now. Great performance.

    Finally, THE tribute.

And the magic is still there, Lauryn !!!

  4. Truth_Serum May 13, 2011

F****** terrific!! B**** is high though. WTF!! Man, why is it that the most talented artists are the ones most self-destructive? And all the losers we wish were self-destructive are still hanging around!!!! WTF is right.

  5. WATEVA May 13, 2011

    HOT MESS!!!

  6. B4REAL02 May 13, 2011

Luv Lauryn to death but what is she wearing nowadays!? LOL….but either way she did great luv it

  7. lost1wons May 13, 2011

YEP, she is definitely PREGNATE again. she was the same size as Maya Rudolph. Its so OBVIOUS

  8. lolo May 13, 2011

Her face looks beautiful, young and so clear, good performance. I love her to death but she needs a stylist period. Why would her people let her go out like that. I love her jewellary though its very inspirational, african, original and so regal. Melody Ehsani is the jewellary designer for her current tour. These outfits truly hide her beauty.

Anyway, good to see her on “The Machine” again, or in other words the televison. She is warming back up to pop culture. Really though she needs to do a televised indepth interview one day, that would really be fascinating, it always is with the greats. I would prefer to see something like a day in the life of……..type of thing. Too bad Oprah is leaving, would of been nice to see those two chit chat.

    Damn I miss Lauryn!!!

    To TRUTH SERUM

She does not look high to me, i have read so many articles about Lauryn and other people’s perspective on her ( industry insiders, people who know her personally, other artists) none have mentioned her being a drug abuser. So lets not get into that because there is no evidence of such. There is nothing wrong with this performance, her live shows are not guarded. I guess you are used to watching that untalented Nikki Minaj garbage with her robotic, lousy and non energetic performances.

Lets just celebrate her comeback because she has not done this type of performance in more than 11 years.

  12. Truth_Serum May 13, 2011

    @LOLO

Of course you haven’t read the more than 90% of bad reviews from critics and audience alike during her so-called “comeback”. STFU. She’s def on something.

  13. lolo May 13, 2011

    To TRUTH SERUM

The bad reviews were based on her being late and her changing the format of her songs from the originals. But some people who went to her shows were very happy with the new arrangements of songs and stated that she was creative, brilliant, very energetic, showmanship on point but complained about her tardiness. Some even stated that she was sweet, humble and still looked young and beautiful when you see her in person. As for her abusing drugs you are on your own here, because I still need proof from those rumours, therefore we cannot judge her based on performances and outfits.

  21. lolo May 13, 2011

I am happy and sad at the same time, if she is pregnant it means she is going to dissapear for a year or two with no new album.

  22. queenbey will always s*** on ur fave and leave them no option but 2 pout May 13, 2011

She did great here. My favorite song by her is ExFactor-it never gets old, I still listen 2 it almost everyday

  23. Ghetto Fab May 13, 2011

Yes a Great tribute. Lauryn killed it Last night. She gave a stunning rendition of COuld You Be Loved. Her vocals and band were off the chain.

R.I.P. To the Legend ….. The King Bob Marley. Forever the King of Reggae and the son of the CARIBBEAN. It’s because of him that we could enjoy Reggae Dancehall, people like Sean Paul, Sean Kingston and the great Rihanna.

    ONE LOVE!

  25. STAY IN YOUR LANE May 13, 2011

I like Lauren, but it seems like shes doing too much on stage, or maybe shes just feeling the music, but nonetheless, I’m glad she had a platform to perform and she did good.

    Good to see you perform.

  26. Dunk May 13, 2011

Amazing, proof that you should never write a legend off!

  27. Mr. T May 13, 2011

I Love Lauryn…… let me say that first.

I went to her “concert” and was VERY disappointed.
I dont care how lyrically GREAT she is, and how wonderful her voice is,
she’s gotta do better when shes touring…smh

Talent does not take the place of treating your fans right. It was the wait, the half performances, and the audience wasnt engaged.

Now on to this performance…. it was DAMN GOOD….. She is truly a gift from GOD…

Lauryn is at it again, proving she never lost it.

  30. Robier May 13, 2011

Get it Lauryn…. A lil erratic behavior but wit the current crop of DRAMA preformers this should be no issue

  31. mobwife….”no, she aint you”!! May 13, 2011

I AM GOING TO NEED L-BOOGIE TO STOP LOOKING LIKE A DAMN BAG WOMAN!! WTF IS UP WITH HER WARDROBE??

I love her vocals and she did a fabulous job on both songs!

  32. UUUUUM imma just…go out the back way. K? May 15, 2011

What’s up with Lauren’s new vibratto? Are you all feelin that? Have you heard it?

  33. edgar May 20, 2011

She is clearly one of the best artist of all time…but it’s also clear that she is not the Lauryn Hill we all knew. This is a more introverted Lauryn, unwelcoming.
