Alicia Keys Celebrates 10 Years of Success On ‘GMA’

Published: Tuesday 28th Jun 2011 by Sam

Time goes fast when you’re on top. Just ask Alicia Keys. The 30 year old took to the stage on Good Morning America today to commemorate 10 years since the start of her career as a recording artist, a feat celebrated by the of ‘Songs in A Minor 10th Anniversary Edition’.

Check out Ms. Swizz Beats perform favourites from her back-catalogue below…

‘Fallin”

‘Butterflyz’

‘Empire State of Mind (Part 2)’

Though a keen appreciator of Alicia’s talents, it’s very rare she does anything for me live.

Yes, she’s gifted, yet I can’t but feel compelled to hit the bathroom, phone a friend, or some other randomness when she takes to the stage (i.e. here and this year’s BET Awards). Given the immensity that has been her illustrious career, I’m assuming it’s a case of different strokes for different folks. As for yours truly…I’m bored.

Your thoughts?

She is amazing live! She doesn’t have to run around half naked like Gaga or shake her b*** to sell some music. She is pure talent and I love her performances. Plus, she sold out Pantages Theatre in CA in two minutes! How many artists now can you think of could do that with just a voice and piano? Yeah, none. She’s the real deal. Go AK! <3

HER VOCALS WERE IMMENSE, this and the BET performance are the best I’ve heard from her in a while

@Sam, Alicia Keys is a vocalist and a musician so if she can’t please you maybe you should stop shading artists that don’t sing live. And for a person that just praised Beyonce’s ‘I care’, I would expect you’re immune to boredom

Pure talent usually bore fat white queens like yourself Sam, but you will deal.

I am so surprised she performed Butterflys. It was one of my personal faves from Songs In A Minor…Good to see she loves it too

Seriously Sam??? Alicia Keys is amazing live and you can’t really understand just how amazing she is in concert until you actually see her for yourself in concert. Her shows really are just about the music, and if you love the music there’s no reason you should be calling her performances boring. If you can relate to what she’s singing about then you should have a very emotional and uplifting experience. I cried a couple times the very first time I saw her in concert. Its rare that an artist can bring that much emotion out of a listener. Alicia Keys is the real deal…true talent.

Alicia has bounced back like better than b 4 after the baby. She looking good, sounding good and she looked and performed so ladylike and decent. Very nice.

To be bored by this you have to be an idiot.. I would of been bored if Alicia got up and tried to dance actually.. Alicia is at her best behind the piano and singing her classics. She’s a musician, and anyone who is a fan of Stevie and Roberta Flack would have no problem appreciating this.
Not everyone has to be one type of performer, that’s the beauty of music.

I’m sorry, but I’m gonna do a first and co-sign with Sam on this one. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that she doesn’t get up and dance with a troupe of backup dancers, it’s just that she has NO charisma whatsoever. Seriously, the many times I try to watch her performances on YouTube, I can’t even sit through most of them. I literally feel myself dying with boredom. She is talented, yes. But not a great performer.

    @ Nate:

People who don’t share your tastes aren’t “idiots”. That in itself is a pretty idiotic (not to mention snobby) thing to say. I’m sure you wouldn’t like it if someone told you you’re an idiot for finding a particular artist boring. Don’t insult other people for merely having an opinion.

And I happen to be a fan of Stevie Wonder, as well as other artists who mainly perform sitting behind a piano, like Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Elton John, Tori Amos, Regina Spektor and the like. None of them fail in holding my attention and impressing me because they’re all extremely charismatic in their performances. And people seem to forget that Gaga is a pianist herself, and as a performer she’s actually at her best when she’s at the piano. She slays Alicia both on the instrument and vocally, IMO. Go ahead and blast me for saying this, I don’t care.

actually it was great performence. but she used to look the way cooler and edgier 10 years ago.

Robin you b****, why didn’t you grill her about her homewrecking whorish ways? Why were you so nice to her? Why didn’t you do your job and grill her constantly about the woman’s husband she screwed, got pregnant on purpose to get and eventually married?

  12. H***-R-US June 28, 2011

Ghetto ass Good Morning America! Why is HOEwrecker Keys playing at the curb and not in Central Park like Lady Gag me? Like her or not she can sing a song and play that piano. Stiil a h** tho.

    “Fallin” was truly amazing!!!
She is a true talent and that´s it. Of course it all depends on your taste. For me boredom is Beyonce´s average music despite her being a great performer. Sorry but if don´t have (and actually make it like Alicia) great music you bore me. That being said Alicia´s voice is often not in good shape live, but this performance was definitely not the case. It was great

Well, Sam, be as bored as u want, but I still love A keys live or in the studio. And as for the BET Awards, she was amazing! But that’s me. Maybe if she tossed a dry weave around u’d be entertained, but that’s just not her style.
