Shifting a commendable 135,000 units in its first week of release, the album which has already spawned the single ‘Shame‘ is the very first time Scott has enjoyed the top spot of the Billboard Album chart. The single ‘So In Love’ also lifted from the album peaked at #1 on the US Billboard R&B Chart.
With Beyonce‘s ‘4′ set to chart this coming week, will Jill be able to brave the tide that is Hurricane Carter.

Album sucks. But good for her.
I’m happy fror Jill. I bought her album. It was a great album if you like jazz and bedroom type music. Vocally she did not any surprises and many of the slow tracks kind of blend together like the same song. Still I’m happy for her. No need to compare her to Beyonce since their release dates are different weeks. Also, Jill is more of a jazz and r&b superstar not an international top seller like Beyonce. I highly doubt Jill will get the same buzz and heavy promo train like Beyonce and Jill’s promotional budget is not even half of what Beyonce gets so who will end up on top of the charts next week is not a fair question.

I’m sitting here looking at us hail 135,000 as commendable. I remember the good ole days where out the gate people were doing gold numbers. Times have really changed that is crazy. And I’m only 26 and remember a very different music climate.

Jill Scott is an awesome performer with true soul and talent, her music touches your soul. Jingles dont last forever, only real music… Jill Scott will be 60 singing on stage her soulful music and we will still be amazed, Beyonce will be 60 singing limited amount of songs because majority of her music is booty shaking music… and no one wants to see that from a 60 year old.
