Alicia Keys has generated more excitement for the re-release of debut album ‘Songs In A Minor‘ with the surfacing of the song ‘Type Writer’.
Recorded long before she was harmonizing with female convicts in ‘Fallin’ and declaring her power in ‘A Woman’s Worth‘, ‘Type Writer’ was written back in 1997 in the humility of her Harlem apartment.

I have never understood the hype over Alicia. Her songs are dry as f*** with the exception of a few stellar songs and her voice is cute on CD but she just strains and screeches when she’s singing live. Oh and I don’t like this song. In conclusion, I’m not here for her.
I haven’t felt Alicia since the Diary. This song is ok though.

Boring. I actually like Alicia, but @YourQueen’s comment isn’t that far off-base. She does get waaaay more credit than she deserves. No doubt a technically talented musician, but artistically she’s way more miss than hit.
That being said though, if you say that you’re not here for someone, you usually don’t comment on a post about them.
Obviously a talented woman but yes, seriously over-hyped.
A couple of singles are flawless but I can never get thru a whole album of hers becuase all of it sounds the same and by the numbers.
She should be more ambitious with her craft.

I guess it’s the same with me. I think all of Beyonce’s and Rihanna’s music is seriously boring. No emotion and seriously over hyped. I like Alicia because she adds many different elements to her music. It’s not just some demo sang in the studio. Typewriter is amazing and she wrote and recorded this at age 17. By the way, how does Fallin, No One, and try Sleeping With a Broken Heart sound the same? She’s the best IMO
