Alicia Keys seems to have come full circle since her debut 10 years ago. With a commemorative re-release of the platinum selling ‘Songs In A Minor’ being released June 28, the wife and new mom took time to reflect on her first year of motherhood with MTV.

The past year has been incredible; just so many blessings, being able to be a mommy, being able to be a wife and just really finding my center and my place of comfort. … Being a mom is like, spectacular. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had, period. I feel like I’m having more fun than I’ve ever had in my whole life,” she said. “I feel like I’m definitely more creative. I’m more thoughtful about my plans and the things that I do, so overall everything is like a hundred times better.On not getting no sleep because of the baby:
“I never was one to get a lot of sleep anyway, because of the nature of what I do and how much we fly and how much we work. So honestly, I’ll tell Egypt [her son], ‘That’s all you got?! You only got waking up every three hours, that’s it? C’mon!’. I guess in a way, I was built for it

That is so sweet, but whatever you do don’t wake him up. My mom use to do that with my first and because of that the baby couldn’t get use to sleeping long periods. Not good for either of us. Glad she’s having so much fun with that little one. Many people dont’ know how to enjoy and appreciate their children when they really should. btw, I love Alicia’s speaking voice as much as her singing voice.
Her speaking voice is so good, as well as her singing voice. She’s very good at hiding the baby from the media. The baby is 8 months old and the only picture is with her covering the baby. She must be a good mother. I hope she releases another album soon as well. One of the best singers out there.
