Dancing machine Jason Derulo made a shocking announcement to MTV News revealing plans to take an extended break from music (after just two albums) to focus on acting. The announcement comes shortly after the ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ singer, whose sophomore album ‘Future History’ will hit stores in September, reportedly passed on an opportunity to play famed guitarist Jimi Hendrix in a biopic.
In reference to the role’s declination, the Miami native stated:
“I really wanted to make sure it [the Future History album] gets the exposure it deserves. It has to be heard by everybody. After this album, I will dive full-throttle into movies for a while. I will ultimately take a break from music.”

He’s a talented singer/dancer and he’s like a new “usher”.
I think this would be a bad career move as I think he should do at least another album and get his name well famed before he tries to do acting because if it all goes wrong it will be harder for him to fall back onto his music.
Anyway its his life and his desicions. Can’t wait for the new album as the previous one had great singles

Well judging by the comments in here it seems like no one is gonna miss him! This is actually the best news I’ve heard about him since he came out! Lol! But is it really a good idea to announce that you are gonna take a break from music before your album even drops? I mean I don’t think his album is ‘highly anticipated’ or anything but why tell people that you want to take a break? I have a feeling he knows this album isn’t going to do well & he wants to delve into a new avenue so he can make it seem like he ‘left’ by choice instead of cause he had no choice.
