New Song: Cheryl Cole – ‘Just Live’

Published: Wednesday 6th Jul 2011 by David

Moments ago, a new song by former X Factor UK judge Cheryl Cole surfaced online. Titled ‘Just Live‘, it’s the first new material to have surfaced from the starlet since her early departure from X Factor USA.

Not to be confused as a new single, the song is lifted from recording sessions for her moderately successful sophomore LP ‘Messy Little Raindrops’.

Check out ‘Just Live’ below…

With live vocals that could even make a game of thumb war with Edward Scissorhands sound appealing, it is no surprise that her fans will be welcome this ballad with open arms.

For it is the first song of hers that sounds as though some effort has been placed into delivering an acceptable vocal.

Whilst some may accuse us here at That Grape Juice of being overly sceptical, it is very interesting that this new track has conveniently seen the light of day in the same week Ms. Cole has controversially reunited with her allegedly commitment deficient ex husband.

Then again,  who can blame Cheryl for once again using another gimmick to generate a buzz for what she calls her music. For with the vocal abilities of a tongue-less mime, it is the only way she will be able to garner the attention she desires so much.

However, ‘Just Live’ is an undeniably bold new step for the starlet as unlike her previous releases, sees her stripped of the  technical wizardry conjured up by Will. I. Am on her ‘Messy Little Raindrops’ LP.

Though she does try to flex whatever vocal muscles she does have on the piano driven ballad, Cheryl does seem out of her comfort zone when trying to hit notes that her lungs are clearly opposed too.

Even the presence of her own backing vocals fail to bulk out the song which perhaps would have been put to better use by a more able singer.

That said, here’s to hoping the next Cheryl album breaks positive new ground. For without the aid of the X Factor the last thing she needs is a commercially unsuccessful album to add to the embarrassment she faced with X Factor USA.

Every paragraph was an attack on this woman. TGJ, get over your f****** self.

  2. Chinny July 6, 2011

I like this song a lot. I really don’t understand how her vocals are bad. She may not be able to hold a note, but her voice is always soothing on a track.

  3. JUDAS666 July 6, 2011

HER VOICE IS LOWER… HAS SHE BEEN SMOKING WEED SINCE XFACTOR USA?? YEA, HER VOICE IS SOOTHING — AS MUCH AS ANAESTHETIC IS SOOTHING. AT LEAST WITH ANAESTHETIC YOU’RE DEAD ASLEEP AND KNOCKED-OUT WHICH IS A GOOD THING SINCE CHERYL “lip syncing lip dancing” COLE’S VOICE WONT BE HEARD.

OH, YEA… THIS TRACK IS FUCKTASTICALLY CRAPOLA. SING-TALKING AS PER USUAL.

    NEXT!!!!

Her voice makes my dog wanna howl! She has the worse voice ever! Glad she’s back in the UK because that is the best she’s ever gonna do because she can’t bring that crap to the U.S.

    Cheryl can sing
    She’s not the best singer
    but she has talent

This song is not bad at all.

Everyone who dislikes her has to say very harsh and inappropriate comments about her which are blown way out of hand, which makes them look so psychotic.
It just makes them look like absolute tramps who can’t even spell or seem to speak english correctly.

  8. YOOSONDALOOSE July 6, 2011

Not her biggest fan, but I do like the song and her voice works well with this. But live performances are a no go.

  9. Kevin July 6, 2011

Sam is being so extra about Cheryl. Get over it.

Well, the song is bad, but I didn’t expect anything different. It’s not just about her vocals. It’s about the boring instrumental, the boring vocal arrangement, the cliche lyrics and the wrong amount of autotune. It’s very little, but it sounds too intense because it sounds out of place without a strong beat

@TGJ Staff You can’t make1-line paragraphs, it’s ridiculous. Make 3 ACTUAL paragraphs instead of 8 small ones

this song was never supposed to see the light, it’s not even the finalized version and it isn’t a leftover from Messy little raindrops but 3 Words. I love it, she doesn’t have the best voice but she can carry a tune and as @Chinny said her voice is always soothing on track.

I don’t understand why you bother writing about her, you dislike her ergo you’re never going to give constructive criticism. You should move on, really.

  13. devon July 6, 2011

Y’all give her such a hard time on tgj but she is wayyy better than britney spears..she sings&dances way better than britney atleast she puts more effort into her career unlike ms.spears..what’s funny is I have all britney albums & dvd’s and only have cheryls two albums but I’m being real!..& not biased like tgj

This is a step in the right direction as far as acoustic songs go for her. She needs better writers though and I think better dance tracks.

  16. nice_gurl July 6, 2011

Why are there so many nasty comments? The singing is not that bad at all. She has a soft tone to her voice. It’s an ok song. A bit repetitive but it’s quite a relaxing song.

Thanks to the supporter of Cheryl! 🙂 finally Im not the only one who think TGJ is aways on her back.. But you know guys, maybe he talk s*** about her.. But he continue to post because we write so much comment when its about her.. And everytime! Its the favorite subject lol in a way its make Cheryl Cole more famous for people who dont know her.. Now they will. And yeah that song is not a new song, its was supposed to be on 3 Words it was just unreleased.. This is not new stuffs she makes after X Factor lol also.. If you read articles today, they say more about The Voice in uk.. Things going well for her, its just about time.. And she willndo better music because will.i.am will help her to push herself.. And thats why he will organize meeting with jayz, kanye west and more.. Her voice sounds good, she sounds diffrent than ohers with maturity in her voice. She just need to try new things to define her voice more and also good beats which will.i.am can work on it for her.

  18. dizzy July 8, 2011

i cant understand whats wrong with her.. she changed her whole attitude 🙁
i mean listen 2 SWAGGER JAGGER … nd then to PARACHUTE.
    see.. theres much difference 🙁
i want the old cheryl back. nd im glad that this song not resembles to swagga jagga ..

I can’t at the d***** bag that wrote this article. Did the gorgeous Cheryl Cole turn you down for a date? Since when do you have to be able to sing like Whitney Houston to make acceptable pop music? Apparently Britney, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Rihanna, J.Lo, Ellie Goulding, and, well, just about everyone popular right now missed that memo. You have to have the whole package, which Cheryl does–in spades. She’s an electrifying performer capable of keeping her vocals clean while performing intricate choreography and commanding the stage. Go learn a thing or two about pop before you go criticising. Cheryl mimed ONE performance (something legends like Britney and J.Lo have done PLENTY of times) and she’ll pay for it for the rest of her life.

    Eat s***.
