Spawning the now well loved singles, ‘Rolling In The Deep’, ‘Someone Like You’ and the song ‘Set Fire To The Rain’, Adele‘s ’21‘ is undeniably one of 2011’s most critically acclaimed releases.
Certified 10x platinum in the UK and now one of the highest selling albums to be released in the US in the last ten years, many would be forgiven for thinking the album would start to show signs of slowing down now seven months after its release.
However, it seems the project is now doing quite the opposite.
For as of the last chart week, it has sold over 9 million copies. Worldwide.

Sat at the #3 in this weeks United World Chart, the LP sold 224,000 units world wide in the last seven days, pushing its total amount sold to a whopping 9.03 million copies.
Cementing her status as one of the highest selling artists of all time.
One spot above her at #2 is ‘Watch The Throne’ by Jay Z and Kanye West which has sold 765,000 copies globally to date, now sat two chart positions above Lady GaGa‘s ‘Born This Way’ at #4.
In at #5 is Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Back To Black’ which has now moved 12.60 million copies since its release and below her at #6 is Beyonce‘s ‘4′ with 65,000 units purchased around the world in the last week.
As it stands, ‘4’ has now sold 1.44 million copies worldwide in the space of eight weeks.

I am a fan of great music and Adele has brought us just that. I have never skipped a song on her CD it plays straight through at minimum 2 times per day. But here is an observation on the stan wars. If I read correctly Watch the thrown has sold over 700 thousand worldwide in 2 to 3 wks and Beyonce who is a worldwide superstar has sold 1.44 mil in 8 weeks worldwide, that is not good at all especially after being gone for 2 years. I am not as familiar with Rihanna’s numbers but I would say that 5 mil worldwide since December is not bad. That’s not bad for 8 to 9 months considering that she has had albums back to back. That’s just my observation. Like I said I am a fan of great music and I enjoy music from all of them, the only person I come close to stanning for is the incredibly talented singer/songwriter and Philanthropist Alicia Keys I can neveer get enough of her music it is timeless, 10 years later I am listening to SIAM like it just came out. All of these ladies are talented in their own right and probably have a mutual respect for each other, the fans should do the same.

Usher sold around 15 to 20 million ww with “Confessions”. Adele would be DIAMOND ww. For all of the silly people that keep talking about Adele, her first album was also brilliant. That is platinum plus now, and is currently still selling in the US. Remain bitter. Adele is a natural talent, and her album is classic. She is refreshing and deserves every bit of her success.

@THEMAN-No such thing as being diamond WORLDWIDE. Adele selling 10 million ww would not have any type of certification. You can only be certified diamond in countries that have a system, like the RIAA for the US. She is only 3x platinum in the US[I believe]. Either way, when she reaches 10 million ww, she won’t be diamond.

It seems as though alot of Bey stans have issues with Adeles sales. May’be because they wished that Adele’s album sales were Beyonce’s.
