Yeah, I wish she was doing more intimate shows like these. Don’t get me wrong, she was definitely made for a stadium, but actually attending shows in super-large venues isn’t much fun if you’re not gonna be in the front row. I prefer concerts at smaller venues, I feel that it’s where a performer truly shines.

I will agree beyonce’s voice lacks soul. I was f****** pissed when she sung “He Loves Me'” the way she did. She made it into something it wasnt supposed to be. I beg to differ. Prime example is Jill Scott. Her voice ooozes soul NATURALLY. Im not saying that all the attempts of beyonce trying her best to sound soulful fail, most of them do though. Beyonce’s tone actually ISNT naturally soulful, as well as those artists you named. Beyonces voice, as well as alicia and mariah is operatic, (if thats even a word) , meaning her tone is flowy, pretty, soft. when not dimming down her speech in songs, (algeBA, sumns’ , etc.) her NATURAL tone and voice quality shines. When beyonces doing her BEST to try and authenticate the soulful sound, you can hear it. Her voice breaks. Its like her throat is making a noise, and that noise is an attempt to sound soulful. If you listen carefully to BTINH, youll hear it. I like beyonces voice as well, but its obvious, even though sometimes the ATTEMPTED sound of soul works when she does it, that her voice overall is not naturally soulful.

I swear they should block some of these comments, it really brings the integrity of their blog down. Like music is subjective, just because you don’t like it does not mean it’s not music or good music. Someone beating on pots and pans make music too! Her album is r&b and that’s that, there are various styles of r&b as in other genres. You have to actually listen to the voice, rhythms, chords, instrumentation that determines it’s genre, that’s why she can transition from “Sweet dreams” into “Sweet Love”.
