Mike Hough Performs Beyonce’s ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ On The Splash

Published: Wednesday 3rd Aug 2011 by Sam

British newcomer Mike Hough has been drumming quite the buzz since stepping out on the music scene earlier this year.

Aged just 19, the Essex bred singer’s brand of Soul-Pop has caught the attention of many including BBC 1 Xtra, and more recently Global Music Publishing – where he signed a lucrative publishing deal last month. The move will see Hough join the likes of Corrine Baley Rae on the GMP roster as he records his debut album with some of the biggest names in music.

Though the LP isn’t due in stores until early next year, be ahead of the curve and get into this great talent. You’ll, no doubt, be seeing and hearing a lot more from him in the months and year coming!

Check out his performance of Beyonce‘s ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ on The Splash above.

IN MY MOST HONEST OPINION, AND I AM NO WAY BIASED AGAINST ANY OTHER FAN/STAN/STANBASE BECAUSE I LOVED “CYNTHIA ERIVO’S TAKE ON SWEET DREAMS, BUT IT WAS OKAY!!!

HE HAS AN INTERESTING SOUND, VIBRATO AND HIS RIFFS AND VOCAL INFLECTIONS ARE LOVELY,BUT HIS VOICE JUST SOUNDS ORDINARY TO ME!!! I ENJOY PEOPLE WHO HAVE TALENT AND HE DOES HAVE THAT, BUT HE SOUNDS LIKE A SINGER YOU WOULD FIND ON YOUTUBE ANY OTHER GIVEN DAY…….

MAYBE GIVEN HIS OWN MATERIAL, HE MAY SURPRISE ME…US, UNTIL THEN, I WILL FOLLOW HIM AND SEARCH FOR MORE PERFORMANCES BECAUSE THIS WASN’T…

@KD no one takes it seriously since it started stanning for Khia

He was pretty good. But the passion is what is important….if you watch the interview you can tell he’s singing because he loves it and is not all about the image.

I think he needs a boyfriend, lucky for him, I am single.

whose sick of artists covering Beyonce to get noticed??? I understand you gotta cover somebody, dont pick a contemporary artist though, it’s kinda weak when you do…..

I wish Mike all the best but there’s nothing new here to hear. Yes, Mike can sing in that rather uninteresting Justin Timberlake nasal, winey tone but it doesn’t move me.

He also didn’t do anything different with the song in terms of ad libs and runs so it sounded regular.

Good like Mike but we already have Daniel Merriweather

hate this dudes voice, so nasal but if hes getting somewhere good for him
as for the cover, not the best not bad though, just not a voice i enjoy

OK, I took a listen to that at home now after all…

He did well, but I am pretty unfamiliar with that song as I never heard it before cuz I just felt it would be exactly that boring it actually turned out to be… A Beyonce song… It sounds too familiar with some other songs by her…

However, I think this guy here shoud have sung some other and more thrilling beautiful song instead and I’d be very willing to hear it next time… 🙂

And that accent when he talks… If he could just smooth it out a bit it would be nice… 🙂
