New Song: David Guetta & Jennifer Hudson – ‘Night of Your Life’ (Full)

Published: Sunday 21st Aug 2011 by Sam

They may be posted at opposite ends of the musical spectrum, however Jennifer Hudson and David Guetta have joined forces.

The unlikely duo fuse Urban and Dance on ‘Night of Your Life’ – a cut lifted from the French DJ’s latest LP ‘Nothing But The Beat’.

A snippet hit the net earlier this month, however you can listen to the track in its entirety after the jump.

Though not a seamless fit, the track is a refreshing reprieve from Hudson’s oft dreary brand of R&B – one which clearly hasn’t resonated with the record-buying public (see: sales of her ‘I Remember Me’ LP).

What the club-destined cut does indicate is that Hudson would greatly benefit from experimenting with a variety of genres moving forward. Of course, the notion of her being yet another diva wailing over a club beat could lose its appeal quickly. Yet, the hymns she’s been peddling as hits clearly aren’t doing the trick – so there’s little to lose.

Decent track.

    WANT YOU TO MAKE ME FEEL LIKE THE ONLY GIRL IN THE… oh wait.

    She needs to switch up her sound, and I like this, but Guetta’s beats are so tired.

  2. isabella! August 21, 2011

    lets see how long it takes someone to drag other artist into this post

    haha already happened @Isabella!

  5. RIRINAVEY (WHO’S IN MY F***** WAY?) August 21, 2011

    RICHARD I LOVE U FOR PUTING THAT OUT. THAT SONG SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE AMAZING ONLY GIRL IN THE WORLD BUT ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BE GOOD. ONLY GIRL HAS A HARDCORE HOOK AND WAY BETTER PRODUCTION AND THAT SONG HAS A F***** LACK OF CATCHINESS IN ITS CHOURS AND THE WHOLE SONG IS JUST HORRIBLE. JENNIFER HUDSON GET BACK TO UR F***** UNDERRATED AND DATED 90′ RNB! IM DONE I MEAN I JUST CANT…

  6. Legendtina4life August 21, 2011

    Agree with @Richard. David Guetta needs to stop recycling beats from other songs. However, this song>>>Only Girl(In the World). J-Hud could pull of these notes live without the use of backtrack. I hope this song becomes a #1 hit in the U.S. Jennifer deserves it.

    A fucken HIT!!!!!!!!

    Jennifer sounds great and the song is AMAZING 🙂

    I would love to see a collaboration between the DANCE KING (GUETTA) and the Queen of Dance music (ANDREEA BANICA)………

  9. ojie king August 21, 2011

    RICHARD AND RIRNAVY, I AGREE TOTALLY THAT THIS IS A SLIGHTLY UNWORTHY SUBSTITUTE FOR ONLY GIRL IN THE WORLD. HOWEVER, I PRAISE JENNIFER HUDSON FOR TRYING SOME NEW THINGS OTHER THAN THE RnB THING SHE KEEPS ON DOING, AT SOME POINT IT JUST GETS BORING AND TOO LIMITING. THATS WHY RIRI CAN DO RECORDS LIKE ONLY GIRL (DANCE POP), MAN DOWN (REGGAE) AND WHATS MY NAME (RNB) NOT TO MENTION RUDE BOY(REGGAE FUSED WITH POP) AND WHOS THAT CHICK (DANCE POP). SAME VOICE DIFFERENT GENRES

    This was the direction she was originally going to go in for her sophomore album but they scrapped it. Sounds like they should explore this genre again.

    @Malibu Barbie

    You are misinformed. David Guetta has always been widely popular outside of America. Kelly Rowland featured on HIS SONG, ON HIS LAST ALBUM.

    Kelly should thank David for giving her some sort of niche and putting her on the map.

    And Jennifer Hudson is FEATURING ON DAVID GUETTA’S SONG.

    DAVID GUETTA IS CONSIDERED TO BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST DANCE DJS OUTSIDE AMERICA AND IN THE WORLD.

    *Don’t get it twisted*

    Jennifer Hudson = FLOP FLOP FLOP & Gospel Singer.

  15. 4LOPSTAYINYOURLANEBIOTCH August 21, 2011

    I agree that it does sound like Only Girl however I do like the song and I think Jennifer should do more songs like this. The R&B thing is getting old and she could be and do so much more if she made more Pop/Dance music. She seems very limited right now with this whole R&B niche which is surprising since Clive Davis is making most of the decisions when it comes to her career.

  16. MUTHAFUCKAH WE ROWLAND August 21, 2011

    @DANCE

    No honey. You are the one who has it twisted. Guetta brought Kelly back…. BUT KELLY put David ON THE MAP! Kelly was equally if not MORE popular than Guetta worldwide especially in the the UK. It was a superstar collaboration, and WHEN LOVE TAKES OVER had a life of it’s own! Kelly promoted that s*** like it was her’s and in all honesty it WAS. Show me where David Guetta performs WLTO live without Kelly?!???

    Let me save you some time….You won’t find it. As far as I’m and the entire public is concerned the monocher David Guetta ft. (Insert Artist Here) is just a clever way of saying. This Song is a Dance Song but, an artist who generally doesn’t do dance.

    Kelly made David. PERIOD. Kelly was the first R&B (BLACK) artist to try out dance and Guetta owes ALL OF HIS HITS after WLTO to KELLY. Without Kelly having smashed with WLTO, your likes of Jennifer Hudson, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Lil’Wayne would still be peddling the same ish they’ve always came out with.

    So… No Honey. Don’t YOU Get it Twisted.

  18. Dude where’s my car August 21, 2011

    Hotness personified is what this song is! Jennifer is amazing, and her iron pipes totally do this song justice.

  19. norma August 21, 2011

    There is nothing wrong with Jennifer Hudson music are sound. She is not being pushed in the way a top notch artist should be pushed. Jen is also not getting a fair deal from radio stations playing her music. One of the greatest female voice and vocalist of our time, and she can’t get her just do. The music industry as well only push the same old tired artist. That business should be glad to push real music and a real singer. People are hoping she go away, but its not going to happen folks. God is in control and he makes ways out of no none. Its his and her destiny to succeed!!!

  20. mhud August 21, 2011

    No other does it like queen kelly rowland,but jhud tried sha.

  21. nice_gurl August 21, 2011

    Too generic and it just seems like a desperate attempt for Jen to get a hit.

  22. Word August 21, 2011

    @Muthafuckin We Rowland

    Your too stupid . Kelly Rowland was not the first R&B artist to try out Dance music or recieve Help from David Guetta. Kelis was. Guetta produced and helped Kelis with her album Fleshtone YEARS AGO!!!! TAKE SEVERAL SEATS .

    SAM don’t give credits at all u see 😉 ! i do not care about her ass 😆 !

    anyway ! u are right ! CO-SIGN with your comments !

    i didn’t hear of kelly till WLTO ! #fact ! but DG was known WW with songs like ” love is gone” , “the world is mine” ! duhhhhhhhh ! nelly is the one who put kelly *solo* on the map ! !

    kelly was nothing “speaking of a solo career” before ” dilemma” ! and she was featured in it as usual (no shade) !

  24. pop royalty ( RUDE BOY ) August 21, 2011

    @SAM :

    male DJs do not flop ! KING GUETTA DON’T FLOP !

    and seriously : anyone beside J.HUD can do it ! but her vocals are amazing !

    and this track kinda prove that any R&B singer can try the dance music ” estelle , kelly , J.HUD” etc…. !

    kelly is not the only one 😉 !

    and peaking of WWpopularity :

    KELLY ROWLAND ft. david guetta [commander] <<< DAVID GUETTA ft. kelly [WLTO] !

    this says it all 😉 !

    #done !

  25. MUTHAFUCKAH WE ROWLAND August 21, 2011

    The only Queen around here is Queen Kelendria Rowland of DANCE MUSIC. So… don’t you have some bowing to do?

    @ WORD

    Kelis? Oh you mean, Milkshake girl. Yeah um…. Fleshtone came out MONTHS after When Love Takes Over. So you have a several seats boo. Kelly started the trend of Dance Songs!

    @POP ROYALTY

    David Guetta =Glorified Producer.

    Kelly Rowland = ACTUAL ARTIST.

    Kelly Rowland ft. David Guetta = Kelly Rowland (Produced by David Guetta)

    David Guetta ft. Kelly Rowland = Kelly Rowland (Produced by David Guetta)

    Now I’m done…..

  26. number1k9 August 22, 2011

    Ugh, could have been catchy, but I am not feeling the super R&B/Church-y/Near Gospel (=J Hud) vocals on it, id not mesh well! Needs another singer on this track-plus the subject matter is also weird to hear HER sing about!

    I can sort of hear the “Only Girl” in it, especially how the chorus has the same tempo lift/ beat knocking.

    That aside to those saying Kelly Rowland started the Dance trend, ummm NO!

    As a reformed huge Lady Gaga fan (around “Bad Romance” she became too much!) I can honestly say ‘The Fame’ by Lady Gaga which was released in 2008, and rode into 2009 AND ‘The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies)’ by Black Eyed Peas which was released in 2009 and rode into 2010 were the two MAJOR releases that helped transform Pop music into its current Dance heavy, Electronic influences sound/trend.
