Fans watching the charts for the debut of ‘Watch the Throne’ will be pleased to hear of Billboard‘s early predictions for the set. According to Billboard, the album is on track to be the second highest-selling debut of the year – bested only by Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way’.

“Predicting “Throne’s” first week is tricky because of its unique release rollout. Traditionally, albums drop to all retailers on Tuesdays. However, “Throne” secured a Monday street date, but only through iTunes. So, its first four days of release will consist mostly of sales via Apple (with physical street-date violation sales mixed in), while the remaining three days of its first week will be a blend of physical and digital.
Best Buy has the exclusive deluxe physical CD edition of the set from Aug. 12-22, which sports the same four additional songs as on iTunes’ deluxe version.”
Official figures are expected on Wednesday, August 17th.

I bought the CD and I really want to give it away. I wasted my money on this crap. This is not what I was expected from the both of them. Well this is what I get because I was buying it on their name. This isn’t surprising at all. It didn’t leak & it was HIGHLY anticipated! I honestly would have expected more but I am sure a lot of people still downloaded it for free too. I think these numbers are respectable though and it is obvious it will be platinum too.
The album is good too, I don’t think it’s ‘epic’ like some people are calling it, but it was solid.

I really think Jay was slick on this one. Look the people pre-ordered and did not hear it before hand. I’m wondering if they should have waited until the songs were posted to hear, because I heard it is not all that.
You pre-order fron itunes and they don’t even give you a chance to pull it back. They get that money and as soon as the CD comes out the drop it to everyone that preordered it.

I am so pissed that Beyonce is acting like this, as if she doesn’t care about numbers. Yes, she has had all the number ones she “needs”, but it annoys the hell out of me how less talented people are more successful than her on the charts (see: LMFAO at number 1, BTINH in the top 20 I think). With the right promotion, NO leaks and right single choices (and two more upbeat tracks on “4”), her album would easily sold 500K first week. B’Day did 541K. IASF did 482K. Those are big numbers. Beyonce would have shut it down…… It gets on my nerves how poorly this era has been handled (with the exception of the Billboard Awards performance. That was FIRE!!). Sasha Fierce would be down our throats if we like it or not and she wouldn’t be able to stay away from the spotlight even if she wanted. I hope she hires Matthew again although that contradicts with her being independent and all.. Whatever….

That’s all I feel when I listened to this album…. I was expecting EPIC with the two of them together… All I got was two narcissists rapping about absolutely NOTHING! It’s like they allowed their egos to get in the way of what could’ve potentially made history. This album is not Hip Hop… It’s commercial rap (and there is a HUGE difference between the two).
And by the way… In NO STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION EITHER ONE OF THEM THE G.O.A.T. #Sorry… Nas already proved that Jay can’t really touch him with Ether… Black Thought, Nas, etc can rhyme circles around around Jay. #Fact they just aren’t as commercially successful. And truth be told I think that with some grooming & time J. Cole has the potential to rise above Jay’s level. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Jay, and he’s talented as hell but…

You guys are idiots! Of course it’s going to sell that large amount in the first week! It’s because THE MAJORITY OF THEIR FANS BUY THE ALBUM IN THE FIRST WEEK! After a couple of weeks, the sales will decline drastically. This happened with Kanye’s last album. That s*** only went platinum! How humiliating for someone of his caliber? This happens all the time to legendary artists. These two only have a couple of dedicated fans left and about 50% of them are going to buy the album the first week.

I didn’t even expect that! People were hoping that Beyonce’s first week sales were going to be about this much. Either way, I’m not purchasing it, so it doesn’t really matter to me.
I think it will sell more than that. I’m estimating around 600’000. Everyone is talking about this album on social networking. I love about 7-8 of the tracks.
