Six months after the release of Britney Spears‘ ‘Femme Fatale’ LP, the singer has finally launched a substatial promotional push for the project.
Perhaps motivated by the album’s uncharacteristically low sales (666,000 sold Stateside to date), the 29 year old has been talking to many an outlet as of late – the most recent being the Associated Press.
Deviating slightly from her her usual pre-approved list questions and answers, Spears made quite the interesting declaration. Check out the interview after the jump…

And while she indeed has little to prove on a sales tip, she’s grossly mistaken if she thinks she’s beyond having to prove anything anymore. Evidence enough, I guess, for why acts like Bey look set to go down in the history books for their unmatched talent, while Ms. Spears continues to tarnish her page with the sloppiness that has come to define the latter part of her career. Even though Britney has achieved a lot in her career, I believe that every performer has something to prove, which is if they can they still make great music and deliver great performances as they get older. Artists have to continuously grow and get even better at what they do. Britney, don’t start being lazy now because you think you’ve acheived it all. You have to prove to us that you can keep making great music and maybe improve your performing skills.

whatever rihanna says about britney bein her inspiration for anything, it’s obvious that she’s was rippin’ off bey from the jump. comedians used to joke about her sittin’ in the audience suckin’ up bey’s routines. most of bey’s music is pop and rihanna’s always has been. because an artist is black doesn’t mean their music is r & b. mary j, and old schoolers like aretha and gladys knight are r & b. there’s few real r & b singers now.
as for lgg jumping britney bandwagon, she came in jackin’ madonna and christina (even though christina got falsely blamed for jacking her). she copies everyone in musice but i don’t see any britney in her.

B. Spears has had 3 top ten hits off of her most recent album while Beyonce has not had one single hit and Bey still managed to sell more albums than Britney in the U.S. this year. Beyonce had better 1st week sales this year, and she was also number 1 for two weeks in a row. I enjoy both artist but lets get real people, regarding LIVE performances and perfecting their craft Beyonce has been the most consistent artist of this era. For those that keep on citing album sales from over 10 years ago, you also need to get real. Britney came out during the peak of the CD era… everybody was multiplatinum. So though having debut sales over a million is impressive (so is diamond record sales) it’s not indicative of how good or bad of an artist she is. Nelly has even managed to sell over 30 mil in the U.S… that def doesnt mean he is the best rapper out there.
I would also like to say for those Britney Stans that once again continue to cite all of Spears’s album sales from late 90s and early 00s to be fair. Beyonce was not a solo artist back then and has only had 4 solo albums where as Spears is on her 7th. If we want to compare sales and be a little bit more fair, lets compare total sales from Destiny’s Child + Beyonce’s solo album sales and then compare them to Spears’ sales. Though it may not completely match or surpass Spears’ WW sales it helps deflate the gap that you losers keep on insisting on using to convince yourself that Spears is the Queen of Pop. & Regarding highest female album sales it’s Madonna and Spears is 7th on the list.
Its not just album sales. Its the overall achievement as well. For example, Oops went on to sell 1.3 million copies in just one week. You dont get that kind of huge sales in one week without a significant impact in the music industry. Also look at their single charts worldwide. For instance in Europe, Britney had so many top 10 hits. Beyonce has a lot too but nothing compared to Britney. Also, Baby One More Time charted No 1 in every single countries it debut, that is something Beyonce never ever achieved yet. Britney also used to be on every single cover magazine in the us, MTV was playing her videos 24/7, her Award performances was always named as one of the most iconic performance of all time, she was the most searched artist of the decades, she was also the only person to perform with both Michael Jackson and Madonna. Sorry, but Beyonce will never achieved what Britney achieved in terms of cultural influence no matter how much album sales she has.
Btw. She also had only 2 no 1 singles in Europe as opposed to 7 by Britney. Lets not talk about Asia, because nobody knows Beyonce songs. They know who Beyonce is and they know she is a great singer. But they dont know her songs. Britney was not super big in Asia but at least, mention the song Toxic, Baby One More Time, Oops I Did It Again, they will know.
