While she maybe playing assistant on Billboard’s current #1 song ‘Moves Like Jagger’, it appears Christina Aguilera is ready to move back into the spotlight on her own. Aside from scoring a second season on top-rated talent show ‘The Voice’, the ‘I Turn To You’ belter is turning up the heat on her yet-titled, forthcoming project – the successor to 2010’s ‘Bionic’.
Speaking with Hello! magazine, the 30-year-old songstress spoke on a number of topics including her new album and if fans can soon expect another foray into film. Find out her thoughts after the jump:
On new album:
“I’m in the studio now working on my next album and I’m writing so much. I’ve been inspired by a lot over the past year, the experiences I’ve had, the good, the bad, the highs, the lows – it will all be apparent in the lyrics. The mood of the album will be very introspective, heartfelt and deep rooted.”
On new movie roles:
“I’m always reading scripts. ‘Burlesque’ was something that came to my door that I was truly inspired to do. It was the right time and place for me to dive into that world I’ve always been inspired by. But I’m not going to do back-to-back movies just to do them. Music is always my first love and where my time and attention will remain. Film is something that will be on my mind and I am looking for the next project.”

While ‘Burlesque’ was not a complete bomb at theatres, the mixed reception was indication that maybe movies aren’t Christina’s lane. Unfortunately, so many other music stars and starlets don’t take the same hint. Be that as it may, here’s hoping the ‘Bionic’ follow-up boasts better material and sees the songstress some solo chart success. With seeming reignited interest, given the response to ‘Jagger’, maybe a buzz single should be thrown out to test the waters.
The success of such would definitely yield proof of her existent star power and combat the claims of those who feel her contribution to ‘Jagger’ wasn’t partly what fueled its success.

I have high hopes for xtina.. Burlesque wasn’t a big hit.. but the film alone eraned around 100 million dollars sale worldwide. Plus number 1 soundtrack and million selling DVD copy.

Christina has said she is inspired by things around her, and up-tiempo songs rule the radio
if she does release a buzz track, it should be a up=tiempo catchy song, but not too generic. she needs a song of her own to grab peoples attention and to keep them interested

I think its going to be mostly power ballads with mid-tiempos like Lift Me Up. I dont think she’ll have any songs like MLJ on the new album. Shes confirmed her recent divorce will be the inspiration, and a catchy heartbreak song from Xtina is unlikely.

what’s all this crazy trash talking about ‘burlesque’? the movie cost only $55m to make and it made over $100m! and the soundtrack is still in the hot bb 200. burlesque may not be a blockbuster but it’s definitely a success! she’s a good actress and should be considered for other roles.
jennifer lopez’s movie ‘gili’ only made $9m but no one band her from the movie screen. bey’s movies weren’t all record breakers either but still gets offers to step to the screen. christina’s every bit as good an actress as she is (no bey shade intended so stans stay seated)!
by the way, why are they holding off airing ‘the voice’ until february. this makes no sense. it gives all the new talent shows a chance to grab up all the viewership. more tryin’ to keep christina’s career on a short leash.

Her next album will be great if she leaves the “themes” alone. She should just do music that she likes rather than making an album based on a theme. The main reason why her last album did not do well is because it was theme-based (ie she recorded an album focusing on the current dance music out). She has a nice voice, but she is better off working with a variety of producers.
