Black Eyed Peas beauty Fergie took to field to wow fans with her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner Monday night on ABC’s Monday Night Football. And wow them she did. However, maybe not for the reason you’d think.

We all know Fergie Ferg can sing, but trying too hard? Umm…definitely. The funniest part of this performance was probably not the missed notes and uncontrolled vibrato as much as it was the cringe on some people’s faces. As if that other national anthem gone wrong was not enough for one night, Fergie was on the field feeling the need to put her own special touch on the historic number. Unfortunately, her special touch was a historic hot mess only made millions of Americans touch the mute buttons on their remotes.

I agree with Sam. I literally got up off the computer and walked to the front room to see who was murdering the National Anthem…my mom and dad were looking at the TV like….No.
Fergie can sing “in general”, but that was pretty bad.

I do not have to watch the video to know that it is probably some oversung mess. Look up over-singing in the thesaurus and you will find Fergie next to it.
She sounded ok but Fergie always oversings, I guess that’s her way of sounding “soulful”? Jessica Simpson and fergie think literally screaming is sangin’ but it is not. Holding a note is great but that doesnt make a great singer, quality should be more important than volume. Loads of people are accused of oversinging and Fergie easily tops my list. But at least she remembered the words because she was clearly nervous.

She sung a little to fast, and she did use plenty of vibrato. But she did a decent job. Fergie can sing. It wasn’t bad if thats what you’re trying to make it to be.
SHE SOUNDED TERRIBLE YELLING AND FORCING NOTES OUT, AND HER ADDING IN THOSE UNNECESSARY VOCAL GROWLS/VIBRATO’S MADE IT EVEN MORE UNCOMFORTABLE. FERGIE IS NOT A BALLAD SINGER, SHE’S A POP SINGER JUST LIKE RIHANNA. NEITHER OF THEM SHOULD BE SINGING LIVE ON PURPOSE.
OK, this is HORRIBLE!I can see her larynx being tortured up and down her damn throat all the time.I feel bad for that larynx.She had no control, it’s like she tried to make her voice sound different.That “freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee” note made me want to punch my computer screen and run away from my room!!!

I don’t know who was worse…..Fergie or Cyndi Lauper. At least Fergie did remember all of the words. But it would be nice if they could get someone who could actually pull it off the way it’s supposed to be sung!
