R&B belle Ashanti raised many eye-brow last week when she took crack at a number of Whitney Houston classics as part of a tribute to the man penned them – David Foster.
And, almost as if a challenge, the ‘Rock With U’ singer this week performed the iconic ballad medley once again (despite these being songs even the most gifted of voices daren’t touch).
Her showing, this time, was in Manila as part of the ‘David Foster & Friends Asian Tour’.
How did Ms. Douglas fare this go round? Find out after the jump…
Kudos where they’re due, she vocally held her own. ‘Own’ being the operative word here; for while giving a nod to the originals, she showed great control in that she didn’t veer beyond her own vocal capacity. A capacity, which despite solid performances such as this, will likely remain underrated given her current industry standing.
Still, it’s not over until it’s over. Here’s hoping the masses are more welcoming of her new material when it arrives next year.
