J. Cole Readying Sophomore Release?

Never one to rest on his laurels, rap rookie J. Cole is already readying the follow-up to his critically acclaimed #1 debut effort.  And, while the September 27th released set Cole World: A Different Story is looking to move nearly 250k its first week, he  took to Billboard to reveal that fans of the album should prepare themselves for a redo – and much sooner than you think.

Maybe gal pal Rihanna has rubbed off on him in more ways than the rumored one.  Check out Cole after the jump:

Billboard reports:

“I’m trying to do nine months, be back in nine months with the next album,” Cole tells Billboard.com, adding that he’s “already tracking the second album. I’ve got the foundation of songs that I’m gonna put on it already, so it’s just a matter of taking these songs to the next level.”

“Even though I’ve been touring and I’m making money now and the struggle is not the same, I didn’t want to get away from that element of my story yet,” he explains. “I didn’t want to start talking about the success part yet. I guess I wanted to almost close that chapter with the first album but still make sure I told that story, because I felt it was an important story to tell. And I can talk about the (success) next time — hopefully.”

Lol at the shade! Ya’ll are too much!

Well, I LOVE J Cole and I am sooo happy his album did so well cause he is such a talented rapper who actually raps about real life issues instead of just s**, weed and money all the time (*cough* Lil Weasel *cough*), but I think 9 months just seems to soon. Damn that’s less than a year! Give your first album a chance to marinate first! I’m sure it will continue to sell well I don’t know what the rush is for.

But then again, real artist constantly stay in the studio writing and recording new material so he said he already has some song for a new album. All of what he has been thru in the past year or so recording, touring and preparing for his album release has given him a lot of inspiration for new material. Plus I don’t doubt he wants to produce more radio friendly hits to get him some more mainstream attention. I wonder what kind of album deal he has with Roc Nation? I still don’t trust that label!!

Either way, I am eager to hear music from him! I really think he is gonna have a long successful career. It’s good to see talent prevailing.

That’s actually the right thing to do.

He’s telling his core fans (you know those who claim that title because they know him since The Warm Up or whatever blah blah blah) that in a year or two, he will make it to the Forbes list and from that moment, his raps will be about his success.

He’s more than ready for a mainstream market. People say he’s the new Nas, I think he could be Jay-Z with Nas’ looks. He can have it all: music, critical acclaim, endorsements, movies.

Next time, I hope he will enroll Timberland or Yeezy or Swwizz Beatz to help him improve the production. He got skills but hey! there’s a reason why TGJ loves Rihanna so much: no matter what, she – and by she I mean Def Jam – always brings us a dope beat to step to. Step to, Step to, Step to.

Since we’re being honest, I do think Trey killed it in “Can’t get enough”. His swag was on full effect. That’s the Trey I wanna see and hear.

    This time, I’m out.

thats not hate though, the man is obviously a peeved J Cole fan speaking his mind. he’s not pleased with Trey getting the shine over Cole in Cole’s own video. i kinda agree but seeng as the bone of contention is Riri, im not too phased i mean …. imma stop lol

Cool, if he’s creative enough he can pull it off.And lyrically, it’s going to be a sequel to his debut, so he can release it after a short time period and it will make sense.I kind of like his lyrical prospective too. It’s good that he wants to extend that story because I’m so bored when second albums are only talking about the success of the first one.He should promote this one more and get it to gold certification, because amazing 1st week sales do not equal success 😉
