Jessie J Confirmed As Coach On ‘The Voice’

Published: Tuesday 4th Oct 2011 by Sam

Stateside, it’s widely believed that NBC’s ‘The Voice’ has somewhat pulled the rug from the unsuspecting feet of Simon Cowell’s ‘X Factor’.

Hoping to replicate such success here in the UK, the BBC (who are producing the show’s British incarnation) have announced their first ‘coach’ – Pop belter Jessie J!

Full story below…

The signing of ‘Price Tag’ singer is no doubt a a major coup and power move by the BBC, who will be looking – very early on – to differentiate their show from Cowell’s; the latter of which has quite the strangle-hold this side of the pond.

Yet, with ‘Voice’s’ strong emphasis on vocal ability, and less of the pantomime its rival is so famed for, enlisting the 23 year old sends quite the clear message. Particularly given the names initially linked to the position – vocal jokes Cheryl Cole, Danni Minogue, among others.

The Voice UK launches early next year on BBC1.

right! just what we need, another exhilirating hour of pepped-up sobbing wannabes warbling on tv. do we have to pick up the phone and call to save our “favourite acts” on this too?

No one knows what the voice is in the UK. And X Factor commands viewership in the teens of millions now. It won’t be as successful as X Factor, but B** are brave to do it.

I actually like this one! I really enjoy her vocals and her style. She has alll the elements to be successful in the US. She has a soulful sound and she’s non-American among other things. I expect to see more of her especially after seeing her perform at the 2011 MTV VMAs and now this opportunity. Good for her.

Good move by B** to snatch her up

I think part of the reason the voice is so hot here is because it had the jump on X Factor. I’m not sure if it’ll out do X factor UK seeing as how it’s following and not leading.

This is good news for “The voice”. Jessie J can actually sing which makes her a great choice for a judge. It would have been cool if they had a guest artist every episode…..such as Melanie Fiona, Charlie Vox, and Mary J Blige….still Jessie J is a going to be a great judge. Im excited!!

uk is a different market than the usa and they already have x factor so i think it may become a success but how huge you will never know , in america it is a huge hit for the network nbc , and because of judges chrisitna aguilera was all over the news there and adam levine and blake shelton are likable also cee lo has some success. it may be huge but uk needs some hipe like simon cowell and cheryl cole
