Christmas- quite literally- has come early for fans of Pop phenom Justin Bieber.
For ahead the releas of his long awaited Christmas album, this week has seen two new songs from the project make its way to the public domain.
Now his legion of ‘Beliebers’ have one more to go crazy for.
Get very familiar with his take on Mariah Carey‘s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You‘ featuring the songbird herself below…
Sam’s 2 Pence:
Given the collective side-eye which greeted news of this collaboration, the track – once it surfaced – was always going to be scrutinised that much more than usual.
Yet with it finally here, the track is somewhat of a non-event (both if anticipating something hot or not). For, it’s essentially the same version which sat on Carey’s ‘Merry Christmas II You’ opus from last year, interspersed with Bieber’s generic vocal decorations.
And granted this ranks up there as one of the cheesiest musical decisions of her latter career, it’s ultimately inoffensive and harmless. Actually getting us into the festive spirit.

Once again, I’m surprised melodyne software doesn’t get a featuring credit in Justin Bieber’s music…I couldn’t care less about his presence on the song, the original is a true classic, one of the best holiday songs ever written, so any type of renewed version/cover will just remain irrelevant and forgotten…And his voice sounds completely different here compared to the song that Chris Brown wrote; like 2 different people…Hmm…
P.S: KINDERGARTEN!

Mariah sang so many circles around Bieber that he didn’t know where to turn. With Mariah on the record. I think it is a very constant reminder that this is Mariah’s song, and will always be her song, no matter who covers it. As for Bieber’s voice, either it’s on the way to breaking or was auto-tuned so much because he couldn’t keep up with Mariah’s voice. Either way, it’s sounds odd.
I can’t tell if it’s the original vocals for the Extra Festive version with some added vocals at the end. Those whistle notes are very new and may I just say, sound very good! And of course the ad-lib at the beginning was new as well. But the rest kind of sounded the same-ish.

No sure if I am feeling this with Justin. I think it shows he is just trying to have a hit song with a MASSIVE song. He kinda had to have Mariah on it, how could you not? I think this is a mistake.

You can barely even hear Bieber. Mariah is not gonna let you take one of her classics and out do her. I would like to see this performed live, and watch her demolish him. This Xmas album of his is not sounding so great.

He effed up Mariah’s classic. Did she even go in the studio with him or re-record this?
It sounds like they just took her old song and added Justin, and his auto-tune to the track.
I don’t like it.

As my name so nicely puts it…Ummm no. JB should have been left off this track most def. What was MC thinking, apart from that pay check, lol. He sounds terrible. Love you MC and I’ll be sticking to you’re version, this sounds like some fan made version, a kid who has dubbed their vocals over the original, a kind of “Sing along with Mariah kids’!
I love her whistle and skat add ons though.

Wow. That was horrendous.
This is the version that was on Mariah’s Merry Christmas II You CD. Basically they chopped her second verse out and put Justin in and had him ad-lib a little bit, but whoever mixed it did a horrible job. It sounds very cut and paste, not to mention that his vocals are louder than hers so their voices never quite mesh. Not that they would anyways. I didn’t think he could sing that well before, and puberty has definitely done him no favors.

I’m sorry, but he sounds no ways a part of this song…just copy & pasted, imo…I’m all for a MC & JB duet, but this was not it…this is a classic that only Mariah can and should be singing, imo…

DAMN!!! Just when I was giving JB his props with that CB record he goes and drops this! LAWD! It was worse that I could have imagined! This shit actually hurt my ears! What the hell happened to the base he had in his voice in the other song! *smacks self in forehad*
Basically all he did was re do the second verse and ad his adlibs. It wasn’t really a true duet. It was poinltess. Justin should have just left this alone and shame on Mariah for letting him do it. This was MiMi classic and he ruined it! Gosh Damnit!!
I #LowKey think Mariah just did this to capitalize off of JB’s popularity though. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt but after hearing this, I can’t. *sighs*

Sit down to the both of you. Her voice sounds excellent on this track. It sounds just about the same as the original. Her tone is very beautiful in the begining she was scatting and her lower register sounded astounding. She sounds great but Justin is another story.

A little dissapointed the arrangement wasn’t changed around but Mariah as usual sounds incredible. Love the whistle notes at the end, it kinda does take it to another level
Here’s hoping Mariah can have her 19th #1 with this song. Out of all the songs in her catalogue, this one is most deserved! A classic that continues to slay every single year!!!

But why tho?? Like I was so excited when I found out they made a song together and then this is what they give us? A remix?? Like hearing this last year was nice cause it was 17 years since the original came out but this isnt even a year later… I just expected more

A mess, but I expected as much. I’d like to get a version of this without bieber, but with Mariah’s new ad-libs and whistle notes. The new vocals add to the extra festive version from last year.
