VH1 attracted critique from many a corner last year for the questionable line-up of acts assembled for their ‘Divas’ re-boot. However, if this year’s newly announced list of headliners is anything to go by, the hit annual is back on form and in a big way.

The network today announced the following headliners for the extravaganza:

* Jennifer Hudson
* Jill Scott
* Florence + Machine
* Jessie J
The impressive cast of vocalists will be backed by The Roots, who will serve as the houseband at the New York event which airs December 19th.

As one who remembers being a child captivated by earlier versions of the show and the headliners of yesteryear (see: Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, among others), this is certainly quite the coup for the network. Especially after last year’s random array of acts.
The ladies above -despite being at different stages of their careers-all represent similar things. Sass, confidence, and above all, vocals! Special shout-out goes to Jessie J, who is doing a fantastic job of flying the British flag. We can’t wait!

when the queen is supplying for her fans hardly anywhere singing and taking part in events. keeping her fans upbeat. the haters are still pressed. they get on her post her videos everywhere like little possessed devils. they wanted her to get pregnant. they wanted her to sit. now that she cannot even handle her era as she wishes they still complain. it just shows how much power she has even not doing much. this woman will forever reign in music. after 15 years and still has this impact.
anyway this is a great line up, talented women, great music, soulful vocies that never seem to get their shine on billboard 100.

There are artist who were born to be and some who just got lucky and try too hard. the artist who are perfected in their field no doubt last to become icons and legends because there is something special about them and the lack luster, ones eventually fall alone the wayside.
Diana ross, michael jackson, tina turner, barbara, they were all hated on but their power kept them alive to become musical legends. This is normal. It is a way of keeping an artist relevant at least 30% of the time

Great.In all honesty, after last year’s fiasco, ANYTHING would seem better 😕 😎 All of the ladies are good vocalists with different distinctive tones.I think it’s only going to get better each year from now on if they keep trying.Providing that this year’s show is a success, then next year they will be able to book more high profile acts (including a certain Christina Aguilera :D)

VH1 needs to change the name of this show because frankly for a show that has been going since the 90s has lost its purpose. What people used to consider a diva is not up to par with todays music.
