It’s here! The countdown to the premiere of pop superstar Beyonce‘s new visual ended today with the unveiling of ‘Countdown’. The latest offering from the singer’s critically and commercially acclaimed fourth album ‘4’, the colorful clip sees the starlet pay homage to Hollywood’s golden age – namely channeling her inner Audrey Hepburn.
While the album has been mainstay on Billboard’s upper-half since its June debut (and up two spots from last week), will ‘4’ be on the rebound due to ‘Countdown’? With baby bump co-star making a well publicized music video debut, get into the Adria Petty-directed action after the jump:

Well, the concept of Audrey Hepburn was adorable, and she put on a very character driven performance for the video with different looks and cute dance moves that prove less can be more IF you have talent enough to follow through and make it entertaining.
Whatever that girl does SHE COMMITS! I don’t think the video was basic at all. I’m not trying to start a stan war, but by comparison Rihanna’s videos tend to be VERY boring even though they are stylized because I don’t find she commits, or does anything entertaining. Whether that is dancing, looking animated, moving well, or acting. Her video’s typically bore the s*** out of me because she isn’t captivating. Even in video’s like Hard, or Russian Roulette. It’s always soooo stiff, stilted, “pose-ey” and boring and dead in the eyes.

After Beyonce dropped the video for “Countdown,” a Danish blog pointed out that the treatment, choreography, and outfits looked veerrrrrry familiar. In fact, many of the dance scenes in “Countdown” looked like the work of Belgian dancer and choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
Studio Belgium called Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker who had a few interesting words about Bey’s remake.
Keersmaeker said: “I didn’t know anything about this. I’m not mad, but this is plagiarism. This is stealing. They took pieces from Achterland and Rosas danst Rosas. Including the dresses and a remake of the school of [architect Henry] Van de Velde [which served as the set for the original recording of Rosas danst Rosas by director Thierry De Mey]. It’s a bit rude, I must say. (…) What’s rude about it is that they don’t even bother about hiding it. They seem to think they could do it because it’s a famous work. (…) Am I honoured? Look, I’ve seen local school kids doing this. That’s a lot more beautiful.”

In the creative and entertainment industry theres a difference between COPYING and REFERENCING and taking INSPIRATION from something. Beyonce along with other artists reference or are inspired by things of the past, Beyonce does this very cleverly and makes it her own and relevant/current.
This vid Beyonce REFERENCED Audrey Hepburn along with other artists/icons and films that were milestones in entertainment history just like Keri Hilson in the Pretty Girl Rock video, I heard nothing about her COPYING people. There are many more examples that have gone right over your heads cos it seems that even Beyonce haters can’t help but to check for her.

The co-director, Adria Petty, recently opened up to MTV about the video.
“I brought Beyoncé a number of references and we picked some out together. Most were German modern-dance references, believe it or not,” she said, calling the shoot “an evolving, spontaneous process.”

Beyoncé brings in a number of her own people who are so hardworking. Our video was the fourth they had shot in five days.
